      Disadvantages

Ok game which will keep you from boredom and entertained.

First it was called Northen Lights then when they were making the film they changed the name to The Golden Compass. If you have read the book you'll know most of the charcters like Lyra, Pan, Roger or Iorek. If seen the movie you'll find this game really broken with bad control quality and dead graphics like The Chronicles of Narnia which was anothor broken game that load people brought and found out that it was awful to them. Gameplay really straight forward when you playing as Lyra and Pan. Pan can change to other animals like Hawk, or Sloth or WildCat to get to high places or climbing, also there are also items to collect to evade or deceive enemies where there a few mini games while your talking to a person in order to move on or get something rare. There is also compass work where you have to find what everyone else is up to kinda like reading peoples minds but The Alethiometer is a tool to solve puzzles and recognising symbols where ever you go to look for clues. Ultimately this is a fun game designed for children, especially those who have seen the movie and can relate to the characters. The storyline is neat but as you would expect the graphics and game play is not amazing.

ok game with very little fun

The Golden Compass is based on the first book in Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. I read the book years ago and when I heard a movie was being released was rather ecstatic about it. I also knew a game would come out so I was excited about that as well. The question though is it worth playing. Graphically the game is okay on the eyes. You won't be screaming for someone to come and look but it gets the job done. The ice has a nice shine to it, character models look like the actors for the most part and the levels have a fair amount of detail to them. The game also uses clips from the movie. The game isn't overly long but it offers a lots of stuff to find. You also get achievements for finding these odd little things and while that seems rewarding and it does give a lot of points, everything else in the game nets you a measly 10 or so points which is just absurd. overall this game is ok for the very young children but for the older kids boredom will set in very quickly. worth renting than buying
