For my last birthday a friend of mine bought me a handful of Weleda Pomegranate products. Now, I don't tend to buy myself body washes or lotions etc but I will try things that others buy for me. My friend loves Weleda and all things organic which is probably why she bought me these things. This particular product Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Body Oil can cost between £15 and £20 for a 100ml bottle - and unfortunately is simply a product that would be beyond my budget which is such a pity! This pomegranate regenerating oil is designed to promote skin renewal and although I wouldn't consider myself that old, I do notice early signs of ageing already, especially when I look back at older photographs and I find my skin drier than it ever used to be. It is meant to revitalise ageing skin as well, and give it back some of the elasticity and suppleness it looses The organic pomegranate seed oil, which is full of nutrients, naturally helps firm and smooth the skin and protect against skin damaging free radicals supposedly! The oils and vitamins within the oil are meant to have keep skin hydrated and therefore help combat dryness. It is also worth pointing out that this product is suitable for vegans. The product makes a pretty big claim in that it states that in two weeks, it should accelerate skin renewal by 50% (according to dermatological tests)! I tend to use this oil when I come out of the shower though you could use it anytime. It isn't at all greasy and sinks into the skin quickly. There is a faint smell but nothing overwhelming or unpleasant and in fact I find it quite nice. The really noticeable difference however is in how soft and smooth my skin feels after using this. There isn't a hint of dryness on my skin and if I run my finger over my skin it feels in such great condition. It terms of the two week claim to improve skin renewal I'm not entirely sure that I have noticed that kind of difference but then maybe those who are older than me would see a bigger impact on skin that is much more aged than mine. I do think it makes a great impact of the condition of the skin which means if it is within you budget to buy, then I would say it is a great product. As much as I appreciate trying this product, it doesn't take long to go through this bottle and in fact I am nearly finished mine and I have been using it for around a month, so I really could not justify paying the price for one bottle a month. All in all, a great product for improving the condition of your skin if you can afford it!
Ingredients - Jojoba Seed Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Macadamia Seed Oil, Millet Seed Extract, Fragrance*, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Sunflower Petal Extract, Olive Oil Unsaponifiables, Limonene*, Linalool*, Geraniol*, Citral*, Eugenol*, Coumarin*, Farnesol. (*From natural essential oils) As you can see this particular product is like an oil powerhouse. I don't usually use so many in combination as I find, even with the best ingredients they can have different effects and some ingredients will downplay or overwhelm others hence it's hard to get the full range of benefits. However, using this product showed me that the recipe was balanced and complimentary in its effect. This oil is a traditional Yellowish tone and has a strong scent that reminds me of sweets/candy but with a sourness too. I used it mostly as an overnight product due to its 'richness' and because of all the different oils included I was slightly worried about how long it would take to absorb. It turns out that I was right and that it served best overnight on my 'normal' skin (not too dry or greasy), as well as an after-steam moisturizer. It didn't have the same 'Wow' factor as the Sea-Buckthorn but I was still more than pleased with it - I had the initial (though shorter lasting than the Sea-Buckthorn) 'glow' that I tend to have when trying new products and deeply moisturized feeling but the difference was that with product the softness lasted all day. I'd top up my skin's condition with cream/lotion after washing, but overall the skin was still soft so I didn't need to use as much. With long term use I'd guess that I wouldn't need to top up with lotion as much because the oil would improve the overall condition of my skin. Overall I'd rate this as 8/10 - it does what it says on the box and over time I think would be good value for both younger and mature skin but with the combination of oils might noticeably work differently for different people. 'Pomegranate Regenerating Body Oil. Promotes skin renewal. Helps to increase appearance of skin firmness.' - Quoted from the packaging.
Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Body Oil Why Weleda? This is a company that has gained my respect and custom time and again. I like their philosophy and ethics and many of the products are suitable for vegans. Cruelty free and with a passion for producing natural treats for the body and soul - my cupboard boasts a host of Weleda delights. Why Pomegranate body oil? I have been aware of the new addition to Weleda's range. Aimed at the lady of 40 years and over this fits my age group. It boasts regenerating skills due to the pomegranate and other fabulous ingredients (all natural of course) and I may expect to see a difference in the appearance of my skin in as little as 2 weeks! I normally take that kind of statement with a pinch of salt - it was the moisturising effects I was desiring more than anything else, but we shall see what occurs on that topic. The oil was on offer so I happily took the opportunity to give this a whirl. All of the pomegranate range appears to be Vegan which is great for my requirements. That is one impressive package! Before I go any further I have to tell you about the incredible packaging and presentation. Housed in an attractive yet simple box - nice clear information and no unnecessary fuss - the quality bottle is revealed below a neat folded sheet of instructions and extra information. I am very impressed. This looks the business. It shouts quality at you. I was reassured that my money was well spent if the product matched the package. Don't splash too much of this on your body! I can tell a quality body oil by how much I need to apply and how easy it is to absorb. I have had experiences in the past where I was oiled up and come the end of the night I was still greasy and slippery. Not nice! Applied in the evening following a bath or shower the oil is luxurious. It flows from the bottle easily and at a speed that I could manage without spilling. I am careful not to tip the bottle too far too fast and have the knack - we get along just fine. Approximately 50p sized glug will do one leg - my legs are long so that is pretty impressive. Half that amount for each arm and the same 50p glug for my torso. I would say the bottle, which is 100ml, offers good value for money in terms of how economical it is and how long it will last - for me approximately a couple of months. I am delighted by the performance of the oil. It glides on beautifully and feels really good - like a massage oil. A little goes a long way, you only need a small amount as it does spread nicely. Once applied it is evident on the skin for a few hours but not in a slippery, greasy way - it is a sheen. The fragrance is naturally lovely too and I can detect pomegranate easily - it smells divine! There are other goodies in there too - I include the website link for you to browse at your leisure. I noticed a difference to my skin much sooner than the predicted time of 2 weeks. My body felt so soft and smooth and the skin appeared to be plumper! I was amazed because firstly I hadn't any issues with rough skin it was just a little dry to my lower legs. And; I just never thought that a company claim would reveal itself to me - it just never happens in reality normally. My buttocks and boobs feel amazing! The lower legs are silky and the skin is more elastic! Abdomen is baby smooth. My skin continues to feel silky soft throughout the following day though the fragrance is somewhat less noticeable. This is seriously good stuff - it is expensive but in my opinion worth every penny! Sourcing..... Packaged to impress this 100ml bottle is a joy to use. It is expensive compared to the other ranges but it is economical and definitely fit for purpose - it performs very well. Packed with natural goodies the fragrance is a delight but not overpowering - it is a treat. Visible results in less than 2 weeks for me but that is not to say that it would be for someone else - I was very lucky. My skin is smoother and feels soft and plumper - lovely. Cruelty free and natural too! I am hoping to get more of this when it's on offer - oh who am I kidding I AM getting more of this any which way I can. That's all from me... Also published on Ciao.
