A brilliant direct drive machine which I cannot fault.

This washing machine is brilliant! My other washing machine buckled one day, the whole drum just mangled during a wash, ruining everything inside. I had never seen anything like it before so when I was researching which new machine to get, I decided one with a direct drive was the way to go. Direct Drive machines don't have a belt, which is one of the things that is most likely to go wrong with a washing machine.

I opted for this one for £350 from currys, delivery was next day at no extra charge and I paid a small fee for them to take away my old mangled machine.

The machine is a lovely silvery grey colour which chrome plastic door surround and nice chrome turnable programme selector dial. There is an electronic display and some push on and off buttons and buttons to select the temperature and RPM.

The capacity of the drum is huge. It takes 2/3 of my washing basket so two loads a week and we are done which is fantastic. It has an 8kg load capacity.

When you turn on the machine it makes a lovely little tune, which I thought at first may get annoying, but to date and I have had the machine for two years I haven't yet got irritated by it. It also plays the same tune at the end of the wash to alert you to the fact it has finished which is actually quite a nice feature.

There are the usual programme settings to choose from, duvet, babycare, quick wash, cotton etc - the good thing about this machine is that when you choose your setting and load up, the machine actually weighs up your load and adjusts the wash time accordingly, which they displays on the LCD screen which I think is a fantastic feature. It then counts down how long there is left to run. I think that is great as you always know how long your wash is going to take and also it doesn't wash needlessly in that it sets the appropriate time for the setting and weight of load.

If the load is a little uneven, e.g. you have some huge bath sheet towels and a lot of t shirts, the machine alerts you to this and pauses so you can readjust the load so it is even. This has only happened on a few occasions, but I believe this also prolongs the life of the machine in that it is sensitive to the fact that the load is uneven and it needs an even load to work effectively.

You can adjust the RPM and also the temperature setting, both are useful features.

It is such a quiet machine too, gone are the ridiculous vibrations of former machines, it operates very quietly and hums away nicely to itself. This is very good, meaning I can wash at night and not wake my little one. This again is due to the direct drive mechanism. Even when it is on a fast spin, it is pretty quiet.

The drawer is easy to release and fill, no issues here. The rubber seal is good and easy to clean.

      The machine looks stylish too.

I have not had an LG machine before but based on my experience of this product, I would always go for a direct drive LG again. I believe they were the first to introduce the technology to the UK.
