I think you have to own a Vorwerk to appreciate the difference. I have tried several major brands in the past and not one of them lasted me more than a year or two. Having two dogs who constantly shed hairs, it is quite a difficult task to find a lasting vacuum which works well.
Having said that my Vorwerk which I also purchased abroad, cost is much lower if you shop in Germany and it is fairly easy to do online now, works a treat. I am 6 years down the line with this one and it's working as well as the day it arrived, I should mention that it is used daily sometimes more than once, depending on whether or not the dogs are shedding.
Pro's, lasts well, picks up hairs and dust, even after years of use on hard floors and any carpet pile length, with the EB350 head or later you just use your foot on the button to change from carpet to hard floor, easy to clean and parts are easily changed. Light, easy to push and quiet.
Con's, expensive if bought in the UK, £1000 if bought with all the tools and case which are not needed here, £500 for the vacuum, need to shop abroad for the best price.
The UK price for these machines is ludicrous & significantly more than on the continent. We bought ours many years ago through a friend in Belgium. The cost was about one third of the UK price. It has proven to be an excellent buy, & I rate it highly, but not at UK prices!!!The plastic case has broken at the rear, & since this is a stress point, , there should be some local strengthening in the moulding-but maybe this is their idea of built in obsolescence. The consequence is that the handle does not remain in the vertical when not in use. After 15 years this is a small price to pay for the very light weight & all round performance
I have use vorwerk vacuum cleaner for over 20 years and it still running well. I never had to buy any new vacuum cleaner. My friends have been using other products and every 2 years they have to buy new ones. I think vorwerk is just the best. I have recommend vorwerks to all my friends. I would like to buy a new vorwerk vacuum cleaner for my mum. I know it is costly but I am thinking in the long run. It wll save a lot of money. Thank you for reading.
Having been subjected to and had a trial use of the Vorwerk range of Vacuum cleaners I have very much mixed feelings about them. The sales pitch of the visiting salesman was excellent - very convincing, and very knowledgeable of the way in which a standard 'beater and suck' upright vacuum cleaner worked against his more 'professional cleaning system'. I must admit that the Vorwerk really does do its job, and the carpets in the house have been shown to be cleaner through the use of the cleaning system. However, I don't think that the cost of the cleaning system really justifies spending the money - the salesman will show you the full range of adaptors and tools, and the total cost is somewhere over £1000! The dry-cleaning system, which takes the form of a massager, and various spot and standard carpet cleaning granules does not work as well as the Rug-Doctor which can be hired at a resonable price from your local DIY store, and the need for a separate motorised carpet vibrator and suction system seems to have been dispelled by the better cyclone / bag-less vacuums such as Dyson. I would say that the back-pack arrangement for use in high situations (ie up a ladder or cleaning the car interior) is a welcomed advantage not offered by many rival companies. All in all, a very costly piece of equipment, and the cost of which would be better used employing a person to do the job rather than spend the time having to cart two or three hold-alls worth of equipment around with you.
