      Very helpful

A cheaper option, but not of the same standard as more expensive models

I bought this hoover as it was less expensive than the main bagless vacuum cleaners advertised (for example Dyson) but claimed to do everything I wanted it to. It isn't an attractive appliance (I suppose most vacuum cleaners aren't!) but does come with various attachments and claims to have an anti allergy filter as well as being great at removing pet hair. I don't have any pets but I do suffer from eczema and allergies so I wanted something that would get rid of all allergens and specks of dust.

The hurricane hoover is a fairly smooth vacuum to use in terms of manoeuvrability - it moves backwards and forwards effortlessly enough but it only moves in these directions so when you want to turn you do have to swing the hoover round a bit. It is quite a chunky and heavy appliance - easy for my husband to lift and carry up the stairs but I struggle a lot to carry it up or downstairs.

There are several different small attachments - a dusting brush, and a couple of nozzles. We found it a bit difficult to work out which part of the hose needed to be removed to attach these nozzles but once we got the hang of it they were easy to use. The hose is a little short for my liking and also the holder for one of our attachments broke quite soon after purchase so it is clumsy to keep that particular attachment with the vacuum.

The hurricane claims edge to edge cleaning, however I find that even pushing the vacuum right up to the skirting board, there are still small particles of dust and fluff that have to be brushed away or have the nozzle applied to them. There is a carpet height selector which we don't tend to use - I can't see much of a difference on our bedroom carpet whichever height I select, but the suction is very good and the hurricane does leave a very clean carpet.

The bagless dust bin is great as you can just remove the bin easily and empty the contents (this can get messy and requires some care!) but I'm personally not a huge fan of seeing all the dirt and dust circulating round the inside of the bin. Unfortunately the power button on our vacuum has now broken which means that the vacuum is permanently in the 'on' position and powers up as soon as it is plugged in to the wall socket. It can now only be turned off at the plug socket which is rather inconvenient and can give you a fright if you're not expecting it!

The hurricane is quite obviously not on par with the more expensive models such as Dyson in terms of appearance and durability, but in terms of cleaning I have no complaints. It would benefit from being less clumsy and possibly more aesthetically pleasing, as well as the attachments being less prone to wear and tear. For the price this model is obviously a cheaper option, and this does show, but it is a decent product. If you have the money, invest in one of the more expensive options. However if you are looking for a budget item, this won't leave you astounded but will do the job.
