“ Brand: Ted Baker „
I've always wanted one of these make-up bags for ages, not just because of the brand but it was so beautifully presented with the patterns, material used, I knew that this was going to be the perfect must-have! When I first saw these, they were quite expensive, about £18 for a small one, and between £22-25 for a large one. The large ones are more wash-bags, whereas the small ones are more make-up bags.
I wanted a larger one because I own so much make-up, it's crazy. But when it came to the summer sales in 2012, it was discounted to a good, but reasonable price as these are quite expensive, even with student discount (which is 15% in Ted Baker stores)
The good thing about these bags is that Ted Baker has them every season, every year, so you will be able to use it over and over again, without anyone judging you because you bought something that is now 'out-of-fashion.' They come in a range of colors and patterns, new colors and new patterns for every season, you can get classic colored ones like black, baby pink, cream with a bow for a cute touch, you can get bright, neon colors ones like green, pink and blue (mainly for the summer seasons) You can get the patterned ones in this make-up bag, but the patterns are mainly the Ted Baker season patterns, which changes often. The one I own is a classic and patterned which is nice, because you get the best of both, and that is red with clove patterns with a heart stuck on with 'Ted Baker London' written in gold writing which makes the product expensive and really shows the value it is worth.
I bought one of these in the sale, a large one for £20 and from day one it is the best make-up bag I bought! Loved the material inside, which is a satin -feel and I loved the outside of the bag too, the waterproof material which makes it even nicer looking! The good thing, and surprising was that I managed all my make-up in one bag, I thought I was going to need to buy another one, which I wouldn't have minded because I love Ted Baker make-up bags and I believe that every girl should own one! I have had my make-up bag for over a year now and I cannot believe how the quality looks even after a year, still looks brand new! The only downside would be that the satin can get dirty if you have too much loose make-up but if you have a dark colored one, it is not really that noticeable, but if you go for a brightly colored one, it will most likely will. But honest opinion, I would opt for a classic one, rather than a fashion one. Another good thing about this make-up bag is that the zip has not bust or broken since I bought it and when you zip the make-up bag up it does not loose its shape, like most make-up bags do. So if you need a new make-up bag I would recommend highly, a Ted Baker one, and I believe every girl should have one, and like me you will love it from day one! They may be pricey for some people, but it is worth your money!
I received this bag as a hand-me-down from my sister. She was actually going to throw it out before I saved it from the charity bag! I was surprised to find out how expensive the bag is to buy as it costs approximately £22 from department stores such as Debenhams and House of Fraser. Even if the bag is Ted Baker I still think this is overly expensive for a small washbag.
--- The Look ---
The bag is simple but pretty with a plain background decorated with the Ted Baker logo and an eye-catching glittery, folded bow. It is available in 3 different colours; black with a pink bow, pale pink with a black bow or the one that I have which is "rose gold" or brown with a pale pink bow. The bag has a broad base which narrows towards the top making it into a triangular shape. The shiny, plastic-like outside material is made from 100% polyvinyl chloride while the soft inside lining comprises 100% polyester. There are no pockets except for a single main compartment fastened by a zip. The washbag is reasonably small measuring approximately 18 (W) x 11 (H) x 9.5 (D) cm so fits nicely into most suitcases or overnight bags without taking up to much room but is probably to large for a handbag.
--- Functionality ---
I love this bag and have ended up using it a lot. I have several different washbags but I'll always choose this one first. Apart from the fact that it looks really stylish it is also really practical and the ideal size for my make-up. I can easily fit in my foundation, powder and eye pencils alongside some eye shadows or lip balm if needed. Sometimes I can even squeeze in some small sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner. The zip feels very secure when fastened and I'm always confident that the contents will remain safely in the bag. The sides of the bag are quite stiff and so hold in place very well to stop the contents from getting squashed and the waterproof material protects the products inside. It is very easy to keep clean as I've found that any marks wash straight off by wiping the sides with a damp cloth. It has kept its quality well and there are no signs of wear yet. The colour is as good as ever and there aren't any scuff marks or scratches on the material which is quite impressive.
--- Summary ---
Overall, this is a brilliant bag. It looks very cute and is perfect at keeping my make-up together when travelling without having to worry about it getting squashed or leaking onto my clothes. It is durable and I've gotten a lot of use out of it. However, for such as small and simple bag I think the price is very expensive and so I would only recommend it if you can get a cheaper one from eBay.
For my birthday last year November I went away with my sister and 2 good friends to Amsterdam as a little weekend break. My best friend was absolutely lovely and surprised me with a whole bag of presents so I was mega excited as I hadn't received so many birthday gifts in a long time! (When you have kids they get all the presents really!) She bought me a MAC Gift card, a pair of shoes, Dot by Marc Jacobs perfume and this Ted Baker makeup bag. I also have a Ted Baker Bowtote bag so this was a nice collection to my Ted Baker goodies!
I have this bag in gold with a black glitter bow which is a really nice, and glamorous look. It is made from PVC so it does look a bit plasticky, but the caligraphy of Ted Baker along the bottom makes it look more elegant so it doesn't look cheap and tacky. The Bow is really sturdy, and whilst it can look flimsy it has stayed in place the last 6 months and hasn't lost it's glitter so it is really good quality.
The bag is quite sturdy, and even when empty it retains it's shape. This is quite good as in my luggage it doesn't get squashed and squished sits perfectly upright when full/empty on my chest of drawers at home! Personally I don't actually use this for makeup - even though it is the perfect size for it - as I don't have that much and use my little brown cosmetic purse from bloomingdales for this. I use this bag to store my jewelry in as I have endless necklaces, bracelets, rings, bangles etc! They all fit in her really well and compactly and looks lovely. The bag is a really good size, a bit too big to take out as a clutch bag, but larger than the size of your average pencil case so to speak.
Overall I really love this little bag and its a stylish travel bag which would make a lovely gift to any lady without breaking the bank too much. My best friend works in House of Fraser so I know she got it on some kind of discount, but I think at full RRP it costs roughly £22. (Yes I am one of those people who researches how much someone spent on my gift!) It is a bit more expensive than your bog standard makeup/wash bag but for the name, the quality and the look I do think its worth it and no doubt I'd pay this price myself for it. I'd definitely recommend it and give it 5 stars!
Ted Baker is a nice brand that produces stylish and chic bags and clothings for women. Some of their products are a bit of hit-and-miss but I do love their flowery print and lady-like designs. However, as you all know, Ted Baker do tend to price their products on the high scale, which means I don't really tend to buy their products much. This doesn't mean that I don't enjoy receiving Ted Baker products as presents. Therefore, I was really pleased to receive this Ted Baker wash bag and a shopper as a christmas present last Christmas from my aunt.
The wash bag I received is from the Ted Baker Normar range. The appearance is just like the picture shown above; the wash bag is spacious and decorated with a simple bow. The wash bag is made of synthetic PVC with a glossy finish. According to the manufacturer's description, the capacity of the wash bag is H11 x W18 x D10.5cm; personally, the dimensions are alright for a make up bag but comes off a little bit small for a wash bag. At the front, it has simple and elegant writing of 'Ted Baker London', and has a sweet two-tiered ruffled bow. The wash bag comes in a variety of colours: it comes in bright pink, glittery bronze and simple black colour combinations. The one I have is just like the one shown in the picture.
I've done some research and I found that these wash bags are retailed for around £22.00 plus possible delivery charges. However, I think they have discontinued this range; Ted Baker still brings out wash bags with similar designs made from the same material every year. So, similar wash bags are on sale and can be bought from various retailers such as John Lewis, Debenhams, House of Frasers and so on.
From my experience, this bag makes a very good make up bag for a short break/holiday. Due to the PVC material and the glossy finish, it is very easy to clean up the foundation spills and stray powders. Also, it is waterproof, which makes it very convenient to put it in the bathroom sink while I'm fixing my make up. However, I do find that the bag capacity is a bit small to be a proper wash bag. If i put all the necessary make up tubs and bottles, it just about fit all the elements I need from my foundation bottle to mascara, eye make up, brushes and highlighters. Therefore, I wouldn't be able to fit shampoos or conditioner bottles, even small size. This mean I tend to carry two bags, one for make up bag and another one for shower necessities/toiletries.
Overall, this is a very wash bag/ make up bag for a short trip. I wouldn't pay £22.00 for a wash bag because it is just simply expensive. However, receiving this as a gift is very nice and I do get a lot of use out of this bag. It would make a nice present for someone as well as a nice treat for yourself.
Thank you for reading and reviewing. :) x
Until now, I have always just used cheap make up bags which end up getting tatty or falling apart after a few months. I had never really considered investing in a good, well branded make up bag. For Christmas, I was lucky enough to receive this Ted Baker Normar wash bag and I absolutely love it. I have always took an interest in Ted Baker products, particularly their accessories so I was thrilled with this.
This is the smaller wash bag, although there is a slightly larger one available too. This is suited for make up, but I still find that it is generously sized compared to most make up bags. The Normar wash bag comes in two varieties. The one I own is shown in the image of this review. It is a gorgeous pale pink in colour all over, with black detailing. The contrasting black is typical of Ted Baker and I love it. There is a huge black bow on the front, as well as the Ted Baker logo. The other wash bag on offer is a black wash bag with the bow and writing in baby pink. As these are two of my favourite colours, this is right up my street and I love its appearance.
One of the things I like most about the make up bag is its material. It is PVC plastic on the outside which Ted Baker is well known for. I find that this is quite practical as it is easy to clean and does not stain from make up on the outside. The inside is just a polyester lining so make up will mark this, but nobody sees the inside! It has a lovely detailed zip along the top of the bag which is easy to use and keeps make up stored securely. Due to the plastic feel of the make up bag, it means it is very sturdy and strong and stays in position. I like this as it means none of my make up will get squashed or break if thrown into bags or suitcases. I have owned this a good few months now and it has seen no damage at all considering the amount I carry it around.
This leads me on to talk about the sizing of the bag. Although it is the smallest one available, it is still quite large for a make up bag. It fits in my foundation, powders, brushes, eye liners, mascaras, blushers and lip products. It really can fit in a load! This is good for me as I find it very practical as I also store tablets and small health products in it. The only issue with this is that it is not too effective for carrying around on a daily basis due to its size, as it would take up quite a lot of room in a handbag.
Apart from this, the only reason I could fault it would be on price. It does cost £22.00 which is very expensive in comparison to what I was paying for make up bags. I was lucky enough to be gifted this which I am really happy about. However, I can honestly say that it is worth the money as it is such a practical and sturdy make up bag, and does everything which I require from one. If you are interested in purchasing this you can buy it from Ted Baker or good high street department stores such as John Lewis or House of Fraser.
Thanks for reading and hope it helps!
