My in laws have a caravan and my children think it is fantastic. They like to just sit in the caravan outside the house and pretend that they are sleeping in it. We have used the caravan for a weekend away and I think this is probably one of the most talked about trips we have ever had.
With this in mind when I saw the Teamster Car and Caravan set in my local post office I instantly knew it would be a big hit. I was in a bit of a hurry and only noticed the toy on the way out so made a mental note to pick one up next time. I think the price displayed on the box at that time was either £3.99 or £4.99.
A few weeks later and quickly approaching Christmas I had cause to visit the post office again and remembered the toy car and caravan I had seen before. I was relieved to find that they still had them for sale and even that the cars available were Land Rovers which I hadn't noticed when I had seen the toy previously. My in laws drive a Land Rover to find a car and caravan just like Nana's was a real plus. Luckily for me they even had the Land Rover is the same colour as the one my Mother in Law drives so I picked one up straight away. When I got to the till I noticed that the price on the box at that time was only £2.99 so I was really pleased with my bargain find.
The car is quite a sturdy metal car with a black plastic part underneath.
Ours is a Land Rover but I think you can get the car in a different make of 4x4 vehicle. The front doors and the boot open and obviously the wheels move. There is a small plastic loop on the back to attach the caravan to. The caravan is made of quite thin plastic and looks like quite a nice size caravan. There are some clear windows in the caravan but none of the windows or doors open. The two pieces fit together easily and are easy to take apart again.
Although I was pleased with the quality of the car I was disappointed with the caravan because it is quite flimsy. After only a short time we lost the tow bar off the front of the caravan and that has now been replaced by a small loop if string. This obviously means that it won't fit to the original vehicle it came with but we luckily have others that it will fit onto. My children were disappointed that you couldn't open the doors or get inside the caravan but for £3 I didn't expect this anyway.
We have had the car and caravan set for almost two years now and both pieces are played with regularly by all three of my children. The car is looking a little battered but the caravan is amazingly still in one piece apart from its bit of string.
I would recommend this toy to anyone with children who likes cars as it is quite a robust toy and for only £3 it has been worth every penny.
The Teamsters Car and Caravan is another bargain buy kids toy for little ones who are mad about cars. This set is very affordable with an RRP of around £5. We paid £4 for this set in our local factory outlet shop, though you can get it from lots of different places including from Amazon for £6.99 or ebay for £4.49 (plus P&P).
This is a surprisingly solid little set for the price. It features a diecast car that's slightly bigger than average. It's probably twice the size of a standard die-cast car, making it more exciting and appealing to little kids because it's that little bit different.
Attached to the car is a solid, plastic little caravan. The caravan has opening doors on the back of it, which youngsters will absolutely love. It makes this a more interactive toy than your average standard toy car, and means that little ones can do some proper role playing with it. Although it's not meant to be used with Lego, I can confirm that little Lego men will fit in the back of this!
This is a fun little toy that's both cheap and well made. I'd be happy with this if I'd paid twice the price I did. The grandson thinks it's great fun, and loves taking his Lego man on holidays in this!
