“ Manufacturer: Hot Wheels / Age: 3 Years+ / Type: Toy car playset „
My 4 year old son is both car mad and a fireman fanatic, so when I saw this little playset I thought it was made for him!!
The set is a garage and fire station in one.
The garage has a parking space for one car, a moveable petrol pump and a workstation that has a hidden suprise behind it... a slide up flame! When the child decides its time for some action, they lift the flame up and it's rescue time! The fireman slides down the pole when a little lever is pulled and this launches the car off to save the day! If its a real emergency then there is also a launcher on top of the set- when the button is pressed the car shoots down and zooms off at top speed!!!
The set comes complete with a flash looking, bright yellow, diecast Hot wheels fire department car, although this set is made by the reputable Hot Wheels brand it is compatible with all the little diecast cars eg matchstick etc not just Hot Wheels.
One of the best features about this toy is that it folds away to a compact H:10cm W:15cm D:4cm making it ideal for travelling, in your hand bag to keep them ammused in waiting rooms or friends houses etc or of course just to store at home- a welcome change from the usual huge playsets that take over the house!
Another great thing, making it a perfect toy for on the move, is that it does not require any batteries! Small and battery free-Hooray!!
The fold away nature of the toy, unfortunately means that it is not made of the most sturdiest plastic, but it definitely is still very durable and copes well with my heavy handed son!! It is not too fiddly either, he manages to fold and unfold the playset independantly.
The set is very reasonably priced at £4.99, especially as the cars to buy on their own are 99p. This affordable price makes the playset a great gift for class mates or as an incentive prize on reward charts etc.
I purchased mine from Wilkinsons but they are available from many other stockists.
It is a great toy that provides lots of fun and inspiration for imaginative play - Definitely recommend!
The Hot Wheels Raceway Fire Station Play set retails for £4.99 or £5.99 depending on which shop you buy it from. Even for the higher price tag it's good value for money, and if you're lucky you'll find it in some stores included in their January sales. Wilksons had this on sale for only £2.49 which has to be a bargain by anyone's standards.
The consists of a little compact playset that fits neatly into a handbag or glove box. That makes it ideal for carrying around and keeping children quiet when you're out and about visiting friends or waiting in a hospital perhaps. It's also a great little birthday present to give to kid's classmates when they get invited to their parties, especially if you've managed to grab it in the January sales like the daughter did.
We've had one of these for the grandson for quite some time now, probably about six months. In that time there's no damage that's occured to it and it's still working great. Pretty impressive for a cheap plastic toy really.
The play appeal here is that there are lots of little functions tucked away inside the set. The front of the fire station opens out at the front and both of the sides to reveal a ramp, a plastic moulded computer station and a petrol pump. To send the car (included) racing down the ramp, you just use a little lever to pull the fireman down the pole, and that tips up the part of the ramp that's inside the building and sends the car whizzing off down the ramp that leads off to the side of playset.
There's a second way to send a car down the ramp as well, by dropping it down the roof! You can sit a car on the roof of this playset, there's a little space just behind the Hot Wheels sign to do this, and then press a blue button beside it to make the ramp drop down on the right hand side and send the car flying off down the ramp that way.
This is a great little toy because it's cheap, compact, durable and best of all fun. It's an absolute bargain if it you get it in the sales, but it's still perfectly good value for money if you pay full price for it. Out of this and the Power Lift Garage which we own, this is definitely the favourite with both myself and the grandson.
