“ Brand: Fisher Price / Type: Moon buggy toy with spaceman and aliens „
My friend saw that my two boys were really keen on the imaginext range when they wouldn't put down her little boys rocket, so she decided that they would enjoy this space vehicle toy for Christmas. When they opened it, it was by far, one of the most loved presents opened that morning, and a very much appreciated gift.
This particular set is one of the cheaper imaginext sets in the range, but does not scrimp on features. The main part of the set is the multi wheeled vehicle which has the wheels set up so that the vehicle bumps up and down as you push it like you are on a really rough terrain.
The vehicle is quite large and easy to push along, so would be suitable for younger toddlers. My two and four year olds are the perfect age for it. The front compartment has hinged access so the astronaut figure included can drive the vehicle about sat in his seat. There is a levered arm on the front of the truck which can be used to pick up one of the 3 alien figures that come with the set. The grippers/claw at the bottom can be prised apart with fingers. I think this would be slightly better if there was a button to press to open the claw.
The rear of the vehicle is an open top section which you can place the robot mini vehicle in. There is a blue disc on the top of the vehicle behind the drivers cab. This feature is on all imaginext sets, and by standing the figure in the footprints, and turning the disc the child can interact with the toy. In this case, there is a yellow ramp on the rear of the vehicle, and turning the disc causes this ramp to smoothly lower or raise from its folded position.
The scale of this vehicle overall is 25cm (10 inches) long, 12cm (5 inches) wide, and 18cm (7 inches) tall at its highest point at the front of the vehicle.
This set does not need any other accessories to make playing with it fun, but it can enhance playing with the space station or space launch rocket set.
My children have really enjoyed playing with this, and it is a sturdy, well made and thought out toy that we would recommend. If you like the idea of the Imaginext range but are struggling to store all your childrens toys then this could be for you.
Imaginext toys are for children aged 3-8, and i find they are ok for younger kids to play with as most parts are not too small, but i do supervise my children and they don't put things in their mouth. The gun accessory that comes with the astronaut might be considered a choking hazard.
