~ Kenwood kMix Boutique Toaster ~
After receiving some Argos vouchers and buying a pink Keep Calm teatowel!! I decided I would very much like to have a pink kettle and toaster.
My kitchen is decorated in white, black and grey with my kitchen cupboards being beech in colour with grey worktops and to be honest it felt very bland and samey so I wanted a nice bright colour, I did buy a red glass table but then decided I didn't like red after all so I swapped tables with my mum for her black glass one and chose the colour pink to add a bit of oomph to my kitchen.... That and my teatowel!
Knowing I had Argos vouchers to spend, of course my first port of call was to look online. Disappointing for me these kMix items were an online exclusive and my vouchers were for instore only so needless to say I was quite upset. However after speaking with my nan she mentioned that she was buying a dining table from Argos so I asked her if she wanted to swap my vouchers for her cash, which resulted in her being very fab and saying yes as it made no difference to her. Great!!
I put the money in the bank and went back to www.argos.co.uk and placed my order for both the kettle and toaster.
I eagerly awaited their arrival.
When they were delivered, I opened up the box and there nestled inside were my kettle and toaster. They came in their own attractive black boxes which showed the kettle/toaster on the box.
I lifted open the flap of the box and unpacked the toaster from its eggs box like packaging inside and I was delighted with how sleek and sexy it looked ..... Yep I have a sexy toaster!
Like the kettle, the pink colour didn't seem as bright as it did in the online photo's and it's more of a raspberry pink colour but it does pop and it is very eye catching. It is the perfect match for the kettle and they look very attractive in my kitchen.
My toaster gets a lot of use, every morning my four boys have toast, and throughout the day if they want more then it obviously gets used again so I really didn't mind spending more than I usually would because not only was I madly in love with these items but I know just how much use they will get.
I think the toaster is beautiful, it looks very modern and attractive. The center of the toaster is chrome in colour with two matching pink plates on the front and back. The front plate is embellished with the word kMix.
The toaster has a slide - out crumb tray, which is nothing unusual these days but this one has a funky slim chrome coloured handle allowing you to slide it out with ease .... and it makes it look classy!
On the side with the lever you will see Kenwood imprinted into the metal. Under the lever is the control knob, these are all finished with suregrip, this is a soft rubbery textured material making it easy to grip the lever/knob. (It also what the handle is made of on the kettle).
Like others the toaster features variable browning. I generally use it on 3 but lower it a little after making two rounds as the toaster is already warm by then and I find that it can then burn the toast a little.
A great feature this toaster has is the peek & view. This allows you to lift the bread up to check it rather than cancelling the cooking process altogether and having to start again.
It also comes with a bun warming rack which also doubles as a toast rack that you can pop onto the table - Very handy!
The rack will hold two sweet waffles comfortably and warms them up brilliantly without the threat of burning them, I serve them up with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream and my boys adore them.
The toaster sits on four sturdy feet which work well at keeping it in place and it doesn't slip or slide around at all.
I am very impressed with this lovely toaster, it works brilliantly and looks amazingly fabulous in my kitchen.
It is priced at £54.99 in Argos, but can currently be be bought for £39.99 in Amazon. (Prices correct as of 4th June 2012).
