go for the songs but don't expect a good story line

I had seen quite a few musicals in London before seeing this. It wasn't something that was particularly on my list of things to see but with half price tickets we decided to give it a go.

I had seen the We Will Rock You musical which like this is based around songs and thoroughly enjoyed it and so I thought it should be good as I like almost all types of music. So I had quite high hopes for the show.

I must admit it is a while since I saw this but after seeing something in London yesterday which isn't as well known I thought I'd give a review about this due to my feelings.

The songs were catchy and had you singing them for a while after you left the theatre - I like it when musicals do that and then you just remember then.

However the story line of the musical was very weak and seemed like it had been put together just for the songs, it was, to be honest rubbish. The story didn't really flow and was there just for the sake of the songs. They would have been better just doing a show case of songs and forgetting any story line. Compared to We Will Rock You (where the story fits nicely) this just didn't flow and it felt weak as a result.

this is a great musical for the songs but not for the story line.

Great feel ggod show, have you singing all the way home

For a joint xmas present, my brother/sister in law got me and my boyfriend tickets to see this show at the Apollo theatre in london Victoria.
I was really excited as i loved the film that stared John Travolta and it was a good excuse to have a good sing and dance.
It was the best thing i have ever seen, the cast were amazing, the young actor who played the lead character Tony Manero was played by the very talented Adam Jon Fiorentino, he comes from Australia and was once in the famous soap Neighbours where he played a character called Casper.
The show is based on the film saturday night fever, and for those of you who never saw the film all those years ago its about a young man called tony manero, who lives in Brooklyn and loves to dance, disco dance.
He works in a hard ware store and really dreams of getting out and making a better life for himself, he has a group of friends and they all go dancing to a disco called Montys, he's a real far out charcter but really funny.
Tony has a dance partner called Annette, played by the extremley talanted Rachel Wooding, she loves to dance and is head over heels in love with tony, but being a man he is blind to the fact.
A new lady called Stephanie comes on the scene and steals tonys heart and breaks annettes along the way, tony drops annette in favour of stephanie, played by Suzy Bastone, and enters them into a disco dance off competition which they win and go off happily into the sunset together.
It does'nt sound as good as it actually is, but believe me its fab, the music was great well, as the group the Bee-Gees had musical input into the film this carries over into the stage version, with hits such as Night Fever, staying alive, how deep is your love, and my favourite If i cant have you, which was a hit for Yvvone Ellerman, you also have Tragedy which was a huge hit for both the bee-gees and that dearly departed pop band Steps.
Robert Stigwood was the man responsible for this film and many others including Grease, and he is also the man behind many great stage shows like Hair, jesus christ super star, evita.
The lady behind all the great dance moves is none other than Arlene Phillips, she was recentley a judge on celeberty come dancing.
All in all a great show and im only disappointed that its run at the Apollo london victoria has come to an end, if however it does open up again i urge you all to go and see it, it really is an unmissable show.
        Thanks for reading
