I have had this monitor for around three years, over the years it has been a fantastic multipurpose screen. I attach a vga cable to the back and then this goes into my laptop, wii or dvd player. I can then have the screen in the kitchen or in the bedroom depending on my mood. I currently dont have a tv as I just moved house, so have been mainly using the laptop to watch catchup tv. The screen quality of the monitor is excellent, the images are clear and sharp. Even when it is coming from the laptop you get a fast response and even on the other side of the room I can see the bright colours the same as on my laptop screen. The monitor itself has a black rim and then a white surround which has integrated speakers. Although I only use a separate speaker on the laptop to get a good sound. It has a silver stand upon which it can be moved forwards and backwards really easily. The most trendy bit about it is the sensor on the front which turns it on and off. You just have to hover your hand under it and the blue light comes on, amber when it is on standby. It switches itself to standby after a few minutes of not feeding anything through it or when your laptop does. The back comes off easily when connecting cables, it also has the white, red and yellow sound connection sockets. It is 17" wide which isnt large for a tv size but is enough in a small kitchen. If you are looking for a versatile use monitor at a good price then do try it as the technology is old now and you will probably only pay about £50 if that second hand. LG are a great brand and this product is lasting well despite moving house several times and it getting bashed around a lot.
This is an interesting blast from the past. I was looking through some old things, and old computer parts I had lying around recently, to find something to replace my broken monitor in the two weeks it would take for them to look at it and not bothering to fix it, give me a new one. The LG Flatron L1780Q is a fun little monitor, I'll start off by saying. It's from a time when square resolutions were still considered normal, to an extent. I'm going to sum it up pretty quick - this is not a monitor you're likely to have as your main monitor, especially if you're buying it now (it's about four or five years old now). Of course its age is just in the resolution (it's a 17 inch at a max resolution of 1280 by 1024) and now it's still a decent monitor - doing exactly what it says on the tin. It connects with VGA as you'd expect and in its silver shell looks pretty decent. It doesn't feel cheap, although it lacks the slickness of LG's later monitors. There's nothing wrong with it, but there are dozens of better ones out now at probably the same price you'd see this one going for on Amazon or something. But if you come across one second hand it does make a great additional (second even third) monitor for a laptop, and small enough to fit in that corner of the desk you don't know what to put.
