A great monitor, and you really can't go wrong

So my old computer screen packed in a few years back, and so my dad bought me a new screen. He chose this, for its good value, good size, and that HP is a reputable company. This arrived, and it was easy to set up, just plugged it in, connected it with my PC, and it did the rest. I stopped using my PC for a couple of years, because it was so slow, and therefore stopped using the screen, however our main computer screen has now packed in, so we've started using this instead, and after a year or so of non-use, it works great

      Styling
The monitor looks great, my one is black, rather than the silver in the picture, and I prefer the black. It looks cool, and its got a few flashes of silver here and there, and it looks great. The stand also doubles as a small tray, so its good for keeping USBs and things there, however its just bit too small to use it for anything slightly bigger, like a few wires or something. The monitor can also be tilted, which is almost essential.

      Display
The actual display is good, everything is clear and sharp, just as an LCD TFT monitor should be. There are plenty of options for the display, brightness, Contrast, image control, colour, language, management, and OSD control, aswell as information and factory reset. There is also an auto adjust buttons, which makes it easy for setting up the monitor.

There are no speakers on the monitor, so this means that you will have to buy some speakers, if you don't have some already. This feature isn't completely necessary, especially at the cheap price of speakers these days, however it would be nice if there were some built in.

So overall, a good computer monitor, and at a good price, you cant go wrong!

Great for both buisness and home use

I have owned the L1908w now for about 10 months after purchasing from dabs.com for £120. I was in need of an upgrade from my 17"TFT monitor and this fell perfectly into my scope on both budget and size.

The design is elegant and practical, with a simple slim frame and arched stanchion, leading down to the base which incorporates a handy dish that you can't help but fill with your office essentials. The angle of the monitor can also be adjusted to suit your needs, with a reassuringly stiff movement.

Looking around the back of the monitor there is a handy built in lifting handle, and the standard connections; VGA and computer style power lead. One small design niggle (and this goes out to nearly all monitor designers) is that the VGA plug is too near to the edge of the monitor, meaning its frustrating to screw in the connector as your fingers don't fit in the gap to the side wall.

As for performance the L1908w is crisp, clear and as bright... I have mine positioned facing a rather large window, and I have never had problems with glare obscuring me from my work.

There is an in depth yet clear menu that allows more experienced people than me to tinker with the settings. I personally found the factory setup more than acceptable, plus the monitor includes a feature to auto adjust to the best resolution, so the install was simply plug in and off I went.

The monitor has been used 8 hours a day, and as yet no problems, I will update this review should any occur...

          An All-round Great Buy

I bought this product as an extra screen for my laptop (bought from PC world: in store, terrible service, probberly lack of staff).
It works very well with my laptop, and when my mate borrowed it, it projected the image so clearly and with the array of brightness and contrast settings it can suit all tastes. There is an auto function aswell which lets the screen adjust itself to best fit the programme which is running.
I bought this screen after alot of research into screens because in the price range £100 to £150 it has one of the fastest refresh times.
The build quality is great, it is securely pieced together with a sturdy frame and stiff angle setter to keep the screen at the right angle.
I have had it for about a year now, and i have had no problems with it, although this might be too short of a time span to make a statement over its reliability.
The maximum resolution is 1440x900, and a 0.285 mm dot pitch.
Overall I would recommend this product as it does exactly what it says on the tin, and is relatively cheap (you can find it on sale in most computer outlet stores, PC world if you do not mind the wait)
