I am a lover of the ever evolving technology and the fast paced changes happening in the computer industry. I would not describe myself as a computer geek, but as I am a bit of a computer hoarder (the insides fascinate me), my co workers often come to me for advice with hardware and software problems in the hope that I can resolve them. I was therefore, quite excited when I learnt our computer systems at work were about to be updated. The systems we had were over five years old and the small 15inch computer screens plonked on my desk was beginning to wear on my eyes. I did not know quite what to expect, but must admit, that I was highly impressed with the wide sleek looking Benq screens and the excellent screen resolution. Although, I largely use my computer for typing up letters, I occasionally have to design flyers or watch videos and the vibrancy of this HD screen jumps out at me.
The product specification can be found in the technical details, but the features that I find endearing were:
The compatibility of the screen with windows 7
The wide 16:9 panoramic view
The High Definition vibrancy of colours on the screen (my desktop picture looks surreal)
The excellent response time of 5ms
I use this computer monitor largely for office tasks such as typing reading email and surfing the web. I occasionally use it for viewing videos and designing posters. I find the screen well suited to an office and home environment and I would recommend this product as I think this is an excellent product with great value for money.

I play a lot of games, watch movies, and go online, so when I was searching for a monitor, I needed one that was good all around and had the characteristics needed for fast games and high quality video. For me, 1080p was a must, and the 16:9 aspect ratio was a nice addition, as this gives you a little more screen width and more viewing area for movies (no black bars). For bluray or PS3 it's a huge difference and I'd recommend 16:9 to anyone. As far as gaming, the response rate of 5ms is more than enough for even the fastest movement, and there is no noticeable input lag. This basically means that while you're playing, you don't notice any distracting slow-downs. This also makes a difference when watching fast paced action movies. The last important thing is use as a computer monitor. With 1920x1080 resolution, there is a lot of real estate to get whatever you need done. I frequently put full pages side by side with extra room to burn. One problems that monitors commonly have is color inaccuracy, which looks bad and can make it difficult to read text. That is not a issue here at all and the text looks good right out of the box. However, if you do want to make it sharper or more blurry, it's very easy to adjust. This is a really great product and I'd buy this monitor again in a second.
I've used this monitor as a secondary screen with my desktop PC setup for the past 10 months, alongside another Benq as primary. Benq are a relatively low budget manufacturer, and although they make fairly reliable products, are not really in the same ball park as names like Samsung, LG, or Panasonic.
That being said, in terms of value for money, this has been one of the best purchases I've made. It cost around £150 when I bought it, and after 10 months, is still going strong. The response time of ~5ms is pretty good for a budget monitor, and the field of view is quite expansive too. Colour can at times appear over-saturated, but in general I've had no complaints with regards image quality.
Recently the cable connection to the monitor itself has started to 'go', and the connection seems a bit loose, which results in some blurring on screen at times, but I feel this is probably more due to me having it pulled taut for 10 months due to poor monitor/desk position.
Overall, this has been a very reliable monitor, and at this price is great for a secondary screen. If looking for a primary monitor to game on or do intensive graphics work, I would suggest investing slightly more though.
