We bought one of these TV's just before Christmas as our old TV was one of those massive, heavy things that take up half the room. We do not have a very large living room but like to have a nice size TV screen so went for the 42 inch one.
It was easy to set up when we got it, the whole thing isn't that heavy to lift, and you just had to set it up on the stand that comes with it.
It has quite a few connection sockets on it, there are 3 HDMI sockets, a PC socket, 2 scart sockets, PC/HDMI audio socket, and component audio input sockets. There is also the normal ariel socket that you plug the out door ariel into. There are also sockets on the side for plugging in things like game consoles. We use this to plug in the PS2 and it is easy to reach the sockets without having to fiddle about reaching plus being at the side they are not in the way like on our old tv where you had to have them on the front.
The TV has digital channels on it which would be great if our ariae was better and picked up them, we have a dvd recorder plugged in as well though and have the outside ariel going into this first so by the time it gets to the tv the signal isn't strong enough to pick up anything but I am hoping we can get a new ariel put in one of these days so we can get the digital channels on the tv itself.
We have sky plugged to it via the HDMI and also the DVD recorder is plugged in via HDMI. The picture quality is really good, even when it isnt on HD it is a superb picture. We have had visitors comment on the picture quality saying how sharp it is and the colours are lovely. We do get HD as well as we get it through Sky and it is really excellent viewing.
The thing that is not so good at the moment is the sound, it is not too bad as it is but the fact that the tv only has the small speakers at the side of the screen it isn't as good as the picture. Saying that it is still better than the sound on our old tv, just that you don't really get the full stereo sound from the speakers. We have the sound connected to our stereo system but this is not a digital connection so we find that the lip sync is a bit out when viewing a film on sky. It doesn't seem quite so bad when playing a dvd but there is still a slight delay. We think this might be because the stereo system we have is not a very new one and think we would get a much better result if we bought a proper surround sound system built specially for TV viewing. Hope fully we will be able to afford one before long.
The menu systems on the tv are easy enough to work through although I do keep the manual near by still as I am a bit forgetful and cant remember how to do something sometimes.
We paid about £450 for the tv and I have seen them on the internet for about this price still so not bad really for a HD tv. I would really recommend this TV to anyone wanting to buy one as it is a good quality and lovely picture as I have already said.
