New house, new furniture and a new television to boot, with all of this talk about the digital age I wanted to make sure that we had a decent enough television that was HD ready and a fairly decent size. My last television was a mere 28 inches and very old looking and bulky and I definitely did not want that in the new house, well maybe in the bedroom.
So to my delight John came home with a lovely 40 inch Sony Bravia KDL-40D3000 to give it its full title and my god in comparison to my other television it is huge, it actually feels like it takes up half of the lounge. Anyway this super television has the following features:
Motionflow+100Hz for smooth motion
24p True Cinema for viewing in accurate cinema experience
Theatre Mode picture settings optimised by Sony Pictures Entertainment
Bravia Theatre Sync for easy control of AV devices
S-Force sounds giving surround sound effect
10-bit Panel for smoother shades of colour
3 x HDMI for easy connectivity - 2 on rear, 1 on side
Bravia Engine picture enhancement technology
New remote commander
Digital TV terrestrial tuner (also receives analogue) built in.
The first thing I noticed that when using HDTV the colours are amazing, they really do stand out in comparison to what I am used to watching, but you do need to be subscribing to HDTV channels or have an HDTV Sky/Cable package to get the better quality.
We bought this television direct from Sony for the bargain price of £1,195 but having now looked online today you can get it from £945 to £1300. My television package came with a wall mount bracket which is an optional extra but definitely worth having if you intend to display your television on the wall or you can have the television stand which we had agreed we didn't want before hand because we needed more floor space and I have always wanted a television on the wall and this television is quite lightweight at 29kg. A whole host of cables and wires also accompany the television as you would expect along with the remote control which I think looks very space age but doesn't really differ from your average television remote control, the buttons are just smaller and more compact. This television also hosts teletext and does come with alot of manuels which go through the television specs which is very easy to understand and follow.
Now the sound is amazing, because there is a built in sound booster and digital amplifier so it really does bounce the sound around the lounge and it feels like we are sat in a cinema with surround sound and you don't have to put the volume up too far to create an impact that is for sure.
I really do love my television and only wish we had bought it sooner; I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a new television soon.
