Great TV would recommended to anyone!

This is a really excellent TV for the money. I had previously purchased the model down but the screen had a defect. I would have swapped it but I saw this on sale for the same price. It's not only nicer looking but has upgraded speakers and 3D. (Only 2 pies of passive 3D glasses included)

Setu: This is straightforward. The system dectects if you have anything connected to the HDMI ports and talks you through configuring them.

Webos: Superb, smart TV system, you can flick through between HDMI ports or apps such as Netflix, YouTube, amazon video, BBC iPlayer etc. Really quick.

Picture: Has multiple modes and is very configurable out of the box box standard works well but I dropped the backlighting and increased the brightness a little to my taste. Treatment of standard def from a sky box isn't that great but hd content looks amazing. 4K (tested from YouTube) is a step up again. Beautiful clear images. Almost hyper real.

3D: This is quite impressive. I watched a Harry Potter film on sky 3D and it was brill, then even more fun watched some non 3D stuff in 3D. All gave a convincing depth perception.

Sound: This is good but lacks bass. I used audio leads to output plus speakers.

The stand is the downside, it is quite a heavy TV and the stand is both long and deep. You may need to measure up before buying!

Lovely TV, great picture quality would defiantly recommend .

      Not bad.

The LG 49UB850V it's a 49 inches tv, with 3D, Smart TV with webOS and 4K (or Ultra HD).
The 4K resolution it seems an advantage but I think it's more a disadvantage, especially for this not so big size, but mainly because this technology it's still at the beginning, and until we'll have more 4k sources, and hopefully at least a few 4k channels, we will surely see much more advanced televisions.
If you want to use the Dual Play feature (with 3d glasses, 2 persons can play a game and everyone see it's part of the game on the entire screen) you have to position yourself as close to middle and as straight as possible.
The Smart part is as good as it gets, and we also receive the Magic Remote, very nice and useful. With Miracast we can mirror almost any smartphone or tablet we have even if it's not LG. If we want to see a video file (also music and picture files) from our computer or laptop, I recommend installing a free software like Serviio or Plex, they are both very good, and we can see all this on our tv screen without any cable, just through our network, thanks to DLNA. You can also do all this from a USB stick, just stick it in the USB port and the integrated player will do whatever you want.
It's a nice tv if you know your way through the settings, you can find different calibrations settings over the internet, just choose the one you like.

      WAIT AND SEE

I recently purchased this tv after seeing it running in a shop and was blown away by its crystal clear picture..... However I was fooled by the old shop window display technique. I know 4K tv is not available as such at the moment but all the blurb states that it upscales regular HD tv to a near 4K picture, so I thought at £1250 it must be pretty good, I couldn't have been more wrong. Picture quality is actually worse than my old LCD from 5 years ago that cost £500 back then. I watched football on a HD channel and it was almost unrecognisable as HD. I ran sky through my TV and pretty much every channel had a grainy look to it. 3D viewing is passive 3D which unbelievably had ghosting, which is usually a problem for Active 3D not Passive 3D. The smart TV side of things is probably the best feature about this TV hence the 2 star score.

I was absolutely gutted about this TV as it took me quite a while to save for it, I only purchased it 2 days ago and I'm definitely pushing to exchange it for another tv. I'm no tech geek but if a TV that's nearly £1000 cheaper and 5 years old looks better then there's definitely a problem......

      Update............

I took my tv back to richer sounds, where the chap kindly spent over an hour changing settings etc. I now have a stunning picture. My advice would be with this tv is to sit down and really spend A LOT of time playing with the settings. It really does pay off. It's hard work getting it right but well worth it.
