      Nice tasting gums

I love jellies of all sorts, shapes and sizes. I especially love haribo, my two favourites are these Strawberries and the Hearts that come in the starmix. I have bought both in bulk from Amazon at times and while it's well worth it I have no will power and they won't last long!

A decent amount come in the bag and they are fairly big, big enough that you wouldn't be able to eat one whole, or at least I can't. This is a not a natural strawberry flavour, it's very much a candy, synthetic flavour, but that's okay because it is in no way a horrible or nasty flavour, it's really nice, just not the natural kind.

I also quite like the appearance of these. They are quite large and are a rich red colour, with a little green on top to look like the stem.

Like a mentioned a fair few come in the bad, I would guesstimate around 15. If you haven't ever tried these before then I would certainly recommend them. Do be aware that these are like other Haribo Jellies though, they are quite a bit harder, it's hard to describe or liken them to anything but the closest thing I can think of are Maynards wine gums. As a result of them being that bit harder they are terrible for getting stuck in your teeth, it's actually quite annoying and it's bad enough for your teeth eating sweets never mind having it get stuck in them.

Also available in giant strawbs and sour strawbs

I absolutely love these sweets. They are so tangy, fruity and juicy, I can eat the whole bag and still want more!

Retailing for approximately 99p per 200g bag, they are great value for money as you get so many in the packet. You get about 45 sweets in a bag, which are shaped round at the top and flat at the bottom. They are sold in a green, white and red bag with a picture of the haribo kid in dungarees. The packets stand out as much as the flavour. They are in the top 20 Haribo sweets currently on the market-although many supermarkets don't even sell them!

The benefits of strawbs are that they are Gluten free, Nut free, Milk free and most importantly for kids, free from artificial colours . They are actually made from real fruit juice, which is noticeable in the flavour. They contain 0.4g of fat per 200g bag.

You are also able to purchase giant strawbs and sour strawbs. It depends on your personal taste, but I think the normal strawbs have a lot more flavour and that the other ones are marging on being two sweet! These sweets are ideal for kids and adults as they don't contain half as much sugar as quite a lot of sweets. Haribo is also a reputable company- which is why kids and grown-ups love it so, the happy world of haribo!

These are by far my favourite sweets that I have ever tried. Although unfortunately not everywhere stocks them. Haribo first started in 1920, although Strawbs kicked off a while later. What Strawbs are is a replica strawberry in the form of a jelly sweet. Personally, I think they taste unbelievable, and I have reason!:)

      Taste
      ---------

Strawbs taste awesome, fantastic, out of this world, words can't describe them. You get the point. Unlike similar sweets trying to take on the strawberry taste, Strawbs hit the target the cleanest. Instead of trying to go straight at the strawberry taste, Strawbs take some of the vividness of the favour out and replace it with jelly. As you will probably know, sweets that take on a complete strawberry taste don't taste too nice. I would even go as far as saying they are the best tasting product in the Haribo range. Its just unfortunate that more places don't stock them.

      Appearance and Price
      ------------------------------

As you can see from the picture, a Strawb is a rather small replica of a strawberry. They are about 1.5cm in height and around a centimetre in width. I know this sounds small, although there are lots in a pack, again, see the picture. If you are looking for slightly bigger strawbs, some dedicated sweet shops stock the giant ones. These cost around 5p each but are about 10x the size. In terms of pack sizes, Strawbs only come in the 1 size which equates to about a medium pack of Haribo Starmix. Unfortunately, I found that they aren't available everywhere, although I always tend to find them in Morrissons, other big supermarkets may well stock them too. If you do find them, I think they cost around £1 a bag. Which is not bad considering the taste and quantity that is inside them.

So overall, Strawbs taste amazing, really really amazing. The price is decent too and look out for those giant Strawbs, there twice as good!

        Disadvantages

        .

I love Jelly sweets and although I tend to buy a mixed bag rather than all the 1 flavour, I still sampled these at home last night after a shop at Asda. Asda are selling quite a few 200g Haribo bags for 50p each, so that swayed me!

Packaging wise this is alright. It is a bright red bag with a large see through part in the middle so you see the Red Jellies through the bag. The red on the outside is meant to look like the Strawberry symbol which has the yellow flecks through it. The Haribo brand is quite large up the top and stands out well. There is a cartoon boy on the front of the pack as well.

The blurb on the back states that these have No artificial colours, made with real fruit juice, is gluten free, nut free, milk free and soya free. Being Jelly sweets they are nearly fat free as well.

Nutritional Infotmation per 40g (a 5th of the bag)

        139 calories
        31.6g carbs
        0.1g fat
        0g saturates
        trace salt.

Now to the sweets. They look like Strawberries due to the shape of them. They are a deep red colour and have a little green blob at the top. They have some textured bumps on them also. The bottom of them is flat and the other side is slightly curved.

These taste very Berry. I think you can taste the Fruit Juices in these straight away and they have a slight tang and are fruity and refreshing. Perhaps some people would think a full bag of the same sweets would be boring, but you don't have to eat them all at once, and I tend to take the odd handful of these to munch on.

A great Jelly sweet at a great price - especially at 50p!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Love them as a treat

I normally don't buy sweets (well apart from chocolate!!) But when I was in Asda the other day I noticed they were on offer for 50p a packet for all Haribo bags. The bags weigh 200g which was really good value for money. They are usually priced around £1.09 for a pack.

The packaging - Well because they are strawbs the pack is red and green, with Haribo written in large white writing along the top. There is also the the Haribo kid on the front holding up a strawberry that says "with real fruit juice".

On the back of the packet it has all the information you need with ingredients and nutritional information. There is also the food facts which state that strawbs are - Gluten free, Nut free, Milk free and Soya free. It's easy to read so you can check easily whether they are ok for you to eat incase you have allergies etc.

The sweets - Well in one word I would describe them as addictive. They are small jelly like sweets in a strawberry shape. They are red in colour with the small green stalk at the top. They are quite small about the size of a real cherry.

The taste - They are quite hard for jelly like sweets but once you chew into them, they taste very fruity and definately like strawberries. Again they taste like strawberry jelly and thankfully the stalk doesn't taste like a real stalk :)

They are mouth-watering and the taste does stay with you for a while. But once you do start to eat them it is hard to stop. Like most jelly sweets I do find if I eat to many I do start to feel slightly sick. (always go back for more later though!!)

The nutritional info for 40g serving -

        Energy - 592KJ / 139kcal
        Protein (g) - 3.1g
        Carbohydrates (g) - 31.6g
of which are sugars - 23.4g
        Fat (g) - 0.1g
of which are saturates - 0.0g
        Fibre - 0.1g
        Sodium - Trace
        Salt - Trace

Give them a go, each to their own....

Well, unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with this Product, I usually love the Haribo range.

Upon purchasing them, you could smell the sweet, fruity aroma, even before opening the packet!!!! They smelt just like ripe strawberries, and I'll be honest, I just wanted to rip the packet open there and then, they smelt gorgeous.

When I finally gave into temptation, I ate some. And, to my surprise, they, in my opinion, didn't taste remotely like strawberries. They were quite bland, they had a flavour, ish. I couldn't tell you what this flavour was. It was mostly just a sickly sweet taste, that could almost make your teeth ache.

I'm quite disappointed that they didn't live up to the expectations. I would even say strawberry bon bons taste more of strawberry.

I do not feel that I would purchase this product again, but don't get me wrong, I will still finish the packet! - And I will still eagerly buy other haribo products.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

a yummarific treat though probably not best for everyday

What can I say for these except yummmmmm. I remember when you could only buy these for 2p from the corner shop, well before 'bagged' jellies came out!

They are a firm fav of mine when I goto the cinema. They are bigger than usual for a jelly sweet probably twice the size of a jelly baby, and come in the shape of yes you guessed it; a strawberry! Being haribo means that you are guaranteed a good quality jelly sweet, its texture is very smooth but perhaps more 'gummy' than say a jelly baby. Also the strawberry taste is delicious although too many can be sickly! (but isnt that part of the fun of going to the cinema?).

Although they are one of my firm favs I do find that I have to mix them with other sweets otherwise I get borred quickly of the 'sameness' of flavour. Another downside is that they can stick to your teeth so probably not ideal for that 1st date cinema appeal - gummy strawberry teeth isnt something a 1st date will forget quickly! LOL

Price wise they are quite cheap, I paid about £1 in my local supermarket - which is a fraction of the cost of what the cinema pick n mix will charge you - however I still feel the need to purchase the pick n mix!
