I love having a bit of a tan, it suits my skin tone much better than being pale and makes me feel much healthier. A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive a free bottle of this to test from Alba Science. I have used some St Tropez tanning products before (not the gradual tanner) and think they are good but are too pricey and would normally purchase a cheaper brand. It is also available in light/medium and as a mouse and spray. The packaging. The product I received to test did not come presented in a box but if you were to buy this from a store or on line it would normally come in a white cardboard box with the St Tropez name in black across the front. The actual product comes in a white plastic tube/bottle with a black plastic flip lid (slightly different to the picture shown above) The St Tropez name is shown in black lettering down the right hand side of the tube. On the left side it tells you that it is gradual tan and everyday body medium/dark and at the bottom gives the bottle size (200ml) On the back it gives you some product information, lists ingredients, brand contact information, shelf life (12m) and confirms that it is against animal testing. The packaging gives the product a classy appearance. The product and use. The product itself is white in colour with a creamy lotion/cream consistency. It has a lovely fresh smell and moisturises the skin as well as giving it a bronze colour. It is best used after exfoliating the skin as this will make sure it goes on evenly and does not leave any patches. To use flip up the lid and squeeze the desired amount into the palm of your hands and massage into the skin. The website advises you to wait until it has fully absorbed into the skin before getting dressed. The lotion contains Aloe Vera so it very easily and quickly absorbed into the skin. Make sure you wash your hands after use and use daily to for a gradual subtle tan. Once applied the lotion does leave a lingering fresh smell for quite a while after which is really nice. Please note that the website advices a skin patch test is carried out 24 hrs previous to application in case of any adverse reactions. Price and availability. It is widely available both in store and on line. Prices vary. It is currently out of stock on the St Tropez website (www.st-tropez.com) but usually retails at £14.30 plus p&p from the site. The gorgeous shop currently have it on offer for £11 plus free delivery. (www.gorgeousshop.co.uk) My own experience and verdict. I really like the product. Is smells great both when applying it and for quite some time afterwards. I have applied it before going to bed and in the morning when the product has fully developed there is only a slight hint of the usual horrible fake tan smell. It leaves my skin feeling really soft once it has been applied and gives a really nice colour (no orange included!) that builds up after daily use. I would recommend this product and would purchase it again if I had some spare pounds and wanted to treat myself.
Recently, I received a free St Tropez sample bottle with ELLE magazine, after a few weeks of use I decided to buy the full sized product. The everyday gradual tan retails from anything between £9 to £16 for 200mls of product and is widely available from numerous online stores, and many beauty and cosmetic shops. The self tan is available in two different shades; light to medium and medium to dark. The free sample bottle I received was medium to dark, and this seemed to look okay, so upon purchasing a full sized bottle, I chose the same colour. This 200ml b The fake tan is packaged in a white upturned tube, with a black flip lid and black writing on it. The bottle has 'ST. TROPEZ' written up the side of the bottle, with other details on the front. On the back, there is more in-depth information, including ingredients, directions, and manufacturing details. The packaging is quite plain, but is informative and practical as it dispenses the product easily, and the flip lid is not difficult to shut-even with slippery hands. The actual product is a white cream, which is of a medium consistency. The fake tan smells much nicer than any other tanning products I have ever used. It's very fresh, and much more natural than you would expect. After applied, the smell lingers for a while, before fading to almost nothing. Depending on how much you use, this 200ml bottle will last a few weeks with numerous applications. To apply, I would suggest using a mitt or glove to prevent getting strangely tanned hands. You need to squeeze out a blob of the cream, before evenly spreading it all over the area you want tanned. After 4-5 hours, gradually your skin will start to show signs of the self-tan. After 5 hours, the product has done its job, and you should be able to see a significant change in body colour. With the medium to dark shade, I find that after one application, my skin is glowing but not too tanned, so after another application I am satisfied with the colouring of my skin. However, this varies from person-to-person, depending on skin tone, and expected result. But, for me two applications is plenty and it gives the desired result of looking naturally tanned. The false-tan lasts around 3 days before it starts to fade, but obviously this can be topped up if you want a longer lasting tan. Also, after showering the tan will significantly fade and wash off, so reapplication may also be needed after washing. Overall, this is one of my favourite fake tans, as it has no outstanding smell and it gives a nice desired colouring. Also, although application is needed for a longer lasting tan, I have found this to be perfect what I need. 5 stars from me!
I've never been interested in fake tans or building up a tan, I embrace and accept my extreme paleness! However a few months ago I managed to burn my back and shoulders pretty bad and left with a tan (this is very weird for me...) so now I look a bit weird being brown on top and white on the bottom. I was never that fussed to match it up but I received a free mini bottle of St Tropez Everyday Gradual Tan Body Moisturiser in Elle the other day and since I was going clubbing that weekend I thought it might come in handy. I know St Tropez is a very expensive but also one of the best tanning brands on the market so I thought I'd give it ago. The one I got was Medium to Dark which is definitely not what I would have picked out myself as I'm so pale but I thought I would just apply it every other day for a more subtle shade instead of everyday like the bottle says. So I squeezed some into my hand and smoothed onto my legs, I really didn't need much at all for each leg meaning it's going to last a long time, especially as I'll only be using it every other day as it's too dark for me too. I did one leg and then realised I probably shouldn't have done it over my knee as I've been told tanning stuff around knees is supposed to come out looking weird and it did haha. So I took more care applying it to my other leg, avoiding my knee. The product didn't have a particularly distinctive smell but it wasn't unpleasant and that's good enough for me, I've heard self tanning products often have a strange biscuit smell but this didn't at all. It didn't stain my hands either. It didn't take long to sink in properly, it left my legs feeling very smooth and soft but I couldn't see any difference straight away but when I woke up in the morning there was a very noticeable difference in colour. Not enough for someone else to notice but I could see as I'm so pale and the moisturiser was medium-dark. There was also no strange stains on my bed covers or pyjamas which i know can be a problem with other products. I applied it again that night I went to bed and then the next day it had worked fully already, my legs had a very natural glow to them which I liked. When I had a bath the colour had faded a little (and I had used a harsh soap and glory scrub) but it didn't go patchy or streaky which is a great plus. I'm very pleased I received this freebee and I think when I run out I will actually purchase a full bottle although I will probably get the light colour as I've found if I apply this one too much it's too dark and very obvious but I'm sure it'll be better suited to people who are darker or just want to keep the tan colour they already have. I can't really comment on whether it works well for the rest of the body as I only use it on my legs because this is the palest part of me but I'm sure if it works fine here it must do everywhere else as it is an all over body product.
