George animal print weekend bag
I love bags. I have loads and loads of them but recently after becoming a new mum I realised that the majority of the bags I own are just not suited to the task at hand, I need something with lots of space because with a baby even the shortest of trips outside can require quite a large amount of equipment, from nappies, baby wipes, soothers, toys, changing mat, etc, etc, etc. It was initially the size of the Asda George animal print weekend bag that appealed to me, it is large but it isn't overly bulky - I tend to think of it as a large handbag.
I bought the George animal print weekend bag from my local Asda store for a really very reasonable £5.50 in the sale and so far it has been a great bag for the price. But, there is an element of you get what you pay for with it. The bag itself feels a little flimsy, the material is a little thin and the bag just feels slightly on the cheap side, but then it was only £5.50. I do believe that it originally retailed for £9, so still a bit of a bargain. It is the first bag that I have bought from Asda / George and I would buy more from them in the future.
As I mentioned the bag is a little on the flimsy side and for example, does not really have any structure to it and when you place it down somewhere it will just collapse in on itself if it is empty, which is not necessarily a problem but it just doesn't always look the nicest. However, even despite the material of the bag feeling a little on the thin side it still looks really good with a nice turquoise animal print design with faux leather handles.
So far I have found that the main zipped compartment of the bag holds quite a lot. I regularly fill the bag with all my daily items, i.e., phone, purse, kindle, some make up, a drink, etc, as well as carrying a full supply of baby items. And the bag holds everything well. Admittedly sometimes it might be easier if the bag had some sort of internal separation so everything didn't end up in a jumble but because you can open the bag very widely it is easy to root around and find what you are after. The bag also has a small pocket on the outside side of the bag which is great to hold a baby toy that you might need to get your hands on quickly so they don't go missing in the main compartment.
Overall, I really like the George animal print weekend bag and I would happily recommend the bag to anyone looking for a cheap and cheerful large tote like bag. I would more than happily buy this bag again in the future, but in a different design because so far after months of use it is still going strong and not really showing any real signs of wear and tear despite often being heavily filled and thrown around the bottom of the pram. But I don't use the bag on a really regular basis. I do think that it does look a little cheap, but for the price it is a bright and useful bag with loads of space.
I do notice that the George animal print weekend bag is shelved in the suitcase category on Dooyoo, but I don't think it would hold up to being used for anything more than a night or two worth of items. I do tend to think of it as a large tote like handbag or baby changing bag.
From me the George animal print weekend bag gets four out of five stars and comes highly recommended.
I have always been someone who uses a big bag and carries around loads of stuff... I have tried using smaller bags but I can't fit all my 'essentials' in! This may make me sound extremely organised but actually I always forget at least one thing. Not to mention the difficulties that arise when it comes to paying for something in a shop, a lot of the time this means putting my bag on the floor and rooting through it for a ridiculous amount of time before pulling my purse out!
I bought this bag while I was food shopping in Asda, it cost £9 which I think is a good price. I am a big fan of leopard print so this caught my eye. The print has turquoise kind of colour spots with a black outline, I like it because it's a twist on the actual leopard print colours. The handles are a tan colour and if I was the one who designed this, I think I would have chosen a different colour for the handles because I'm not sure they suit the pattern that well. I still bought it though and I do like the look of this bag.
One of the main reasons I decided to buy this bag is because of the pockets, this bag has a big pocket over the front of the bag which is a good idea. This means I can put the things I will need to use a lot in the front so I can pull them out quickly and easily. There is a bit of a problem with this pocket though, it's not very secure and there is no zip, just one popper to fasten the whole pocket which isn't very safe. If safety is an issue but you still want to carry things in the pocket then I would suggest maybe carrying it with the pocket side facing in to you instead of outwards. This pocket is definitely useful, I really think it should have a zip or a more secure fastening though.
There are also two more small pockets inside the bag, a phone pocket which fits my wide smartphone which isn't always the case so that is a plus and a zip up pocket that is handy for things that you want to keep safe but easy to access, I like to keep my purse or money in there, because it's a zip pocket I feel fine just putting loose money in there when I am in a rush and my purse is in the main section of the bag along with a load of other stuff that I would have to search through.
I don't think this is big enough to be a weekend bag, unless you're a really light packer. I would say this is more of large handbag, I think it's good for a day trip where you need to carry a few more things than usual. It does look smaller than it actually is, when you open it you see that it's surprisingly roomy.
I recommend this bag but I don't recommend it as a weekend bag. It's roomy, looks good and I like the pockets. At £9 it is good value for money because I have got a lot of use out of mine and it's still going strong.
George Animal Print Weekend Bag
Over the past few months I have been lucky enough to go on a couple of short breaks and hen weekends and wanted a fancy bag to take with me. George at Asda has been a godsend for me recently and this bag is no exception. Again it is leopard print, my favourite, but this print is a bit more funky!
The Weekend Bag
I have a suitcase that I usually use for going away on short trips, but it is just a little too big for a night or two and quite awkward to carry about. This weekend bag is a great size for a mini break away with dimensions of - Height approximately 35 cm, width approximately 50 cm. It is big enough to hold lots of clothes and goodies, but no so big that it rips your arm off while you are carrying it! You wouldn't be able to fit a big selection of your favourite shoes in there but it is good for a couple of sets of clothes.
The bag is a bit of a bowl shape, with a rectangular bottom and rounded top where the zip goes. The zip is relatively chunky and goes right the way across the top of the bag, sealing your valuables inside, it feels pretty sturdy and secure. The handles are a warm brown rubbery/faux leather chunky straps that are long enough to fit easily over your shoulder even with a thick coat on. These are attached to the outside of the bag on either side with discoloured gold loops.
The print is the main attraction for me with this bag, it is not only animal print, but a nice, funky turquoise and brown print on a light off white backing. There is also a large side pocket on one side of the bag that has the print on as well, again with a little zip to seal it. Inside the bag there are a few more pockets in the lining for your essential items such as phone, make up etc. which is really handy although I tend to always have a separate hand bag with me when I use this bag so I don't have to cart it around everywhere.
Now onto the price, George at Asda has such reasonable prices, I love it and this is no exception. It cost me the princely sum of £9. I like buying handbags and bags and they usually set me back a fair bit but I don't mind because I know they will last. This is not a bag for life, but for a few weekend breaks away a year I think this will do pretty well.
I saw this bag in Asda recently while I was shopping for other things (isn't that always the way with supermarkets these days!?) and I liked the shape and size of it as an occasional weekend bag. They had it in three different prints, the leopard style pictured above, zebra print and a print with lots of rabbits on (?). All were the same shape, size and style and priced at £9 - I bought the zebra print one.
You effectively get what you pay for, this is a cheaply produced bag made of man made materials in a combination of faux leather and plastic. It has two large handles attached with rings to the main body of the bag and they do seem pretty sturdy. It has a smallish zip pocket on the front and a large main compartment.
The zebra print is on the main body of the bag and then the base and the reinforced sections around the handles are a block black colour. The base of the bag is flat and it sits easily upright. The measurements are as follows: height 13 inches / 34cm and width 20 inches / 50cm.
For £9 this is a stylish and fashionable bag which serves a basic purpose and it does have enough space for a short break but you would have to be very economical with what you took. It looks pretty good but is also pretty basic.
Hi, my name is Amelia and I'm addicted to leopard print. It feels good to get that out!
As soon as I saw this 'animal' print bag I knew I would end up buying it. I was actually looking for a holiday bag anyway, something I could take to the airport and use at the beach. It seemed to fit the bill and also was nice enough that I might be able to use it for other things too.
I found it really good for carrying the things I needed in the airport on my most recent holiday and I have also found it great for using on the beach. A slight issue that arose was that it has a load of nooks and crannies in which sand can easily get and survive for a while. The bag is also described as a weekend bag but personally I think it is probably a little small for this kind of use. However, for what I bought it for it is fine. I have also found it useful for taking my books and folders to Uni and back, this is a nice unexpected usage which is really handy for me.
The bag has a leopard style print all over it but with a nice colourful twist. Some of the spots are a greeny/turquoisy colour which adds a cool playful edge to an otherwise quite tame bag. The bag also has a tan coloured trim in a faux leather fabric. I personally think this looks a little cheap but for a back that was inexpensive you probably can't expect any more! The handles on the bag do feel pretty sturdy and I haven't had any problems with them. They are long enough for over the shoulder use but also sit comfortably on your lower arm.
There is a long pocket on the front of the back which is pretty handy for all those belongings you need to reach quickly. I have used it for my phone though I do worry a little because it does up in the middle with a single popper and probably isn't super safe. I would avoid putting things in here if you are using it in a busy or dangerous area. Otherwise there are no issues. In the bag there are also a phone pocket and a zip pocket. I don't tend to put my phone in this pocket because I like putting it in the outer one and I find it hard to get out of this one when in a rush. The zip pocket is good for keeping small change and other important belongings. Everything else goes in the main body of the bag and is easy to reach.
The bag costs £9 from Asda which is relatively cheap for such a big bag. I would definitely say it is good value for money, though if you plan to use it for a weekend bag then you need to pack lightly!
Overall, a nice bag which indulges my love of leopard print.
I've always been a sucker when it comes to handbags. I can't help myself when I see a pretty one, especially when it is sale or on offer. Asda is a great place for well-priced bags and here is where I bought an animal print 'weekend' bag.
This bag comes from George so is only available from Asda stores or online. Currently, Asda Direct has this on offer for £5.50 instead of the original £9. Even though this is described as a weekend bag, there is no way that it is big enough for this, or as big as some as my other weekend bags. The actual dimensions for this one are; 30cm high, 50cm wide and 15cm deep. However, it is big enough to fit a fair amount of things in it so suited my needs well.
The bag has a very colourful animal design to it. The spots are green which are outlined in black while the background is a gold/ yellow colour. All of the trim to the bag is a brown leather. There is also quite a large pocket on the front of the bag. The handles are quite long although not adjustable but they are long enough to put the bag on your shoulder and have it safely tucked to your body.
The inside of the bag is lined with black material and also has a pocket which has a zip fastening. This is a great feature as it will keep items like phones and mp3 players safer than if they are in the outside pocket. The outside pocket only closes by using a small popper button so it wouldn't be advisable to keep anything expensive in here.
The bag is quite spacious and as I said earlier, can fit quite a lot in it. I like using it to take to university as it easily fits in my books along with some lunch and other bits and pieces. It is quite disappointing that I wouldn't be able to use this as an actual weekend bag though as I do really like the design and it stands out in comparison to some of my other weekend bags. Still, especially at its current price, it is a good bag and I'm really glad I bought it.
I have a caravan at the coast which we like to visit most weekends but being blessed with naturally curly hair and aging skin, the amount of toiletries and hair products I take with me is fast outgrowing the number of clothes. Rather then putting all these items in the suitcase, I decided to by a bag and keep them separately.
I spotted this a few weeks ago whilst buying some school uniform for my daughter and decided to buy. It is part of the George range so only available at Asda, I brought mine online and I don't go into Asda often so not sure if you can buy it in store too. It cost me £9 (delivery was £2.95 but you can get free delivery to store).
The thing that first attracted me to the bag was the design; it is a silver/gold background, on this there are lots of black shapes with what looks like turquoise feathers on. The handles are leather effect, and a tan colour. I wasn't expecting it to be fantastic due to the price but when I received; I was quite pleased with the look and despite the price, it actually feels quite well made.
The bag is advertised as a weekend bag and measures approximately 54cm x 32cm, to me, this is quite small for a weekend bag and even without all my toiletries, I don't think it would be big enough. Inside the bag there are two smaller pockets, which are both quite generous in size, one has a zip on to keep things secure if you need to, There is also a pocket to the front of the bag, this measure around 25cm x 30cm but this only has a press stud opening on, I don't really use this pocket as I find things are too secure.
Overall, I would recommend the bag, although it does what I need it to, as it is advertised as a weekend bag, I would only give 4 out of 5 stars due to the size.
Thanks for reading.
Now it must be said that I am one of those girls who generally has everything except the kitchen sink in their handbag, I can't be doing with little itty bitty bags that I can barely fit a lipstick in, instead I like to be prepared for every eventuality which means stocking a full assortment of tissues, plasters, chewing gum, body sprays, notebook and pens (just incase the first 3 decide to run out), hair grips, stuffed make up bag and even a pritt stick as you never know when one will come in handy. With this in mind I need quite a large bag to accommodate all my necessities and whilst browsing through the George section of my local Asda I stumbled across this bag which although marketed as being for overnight use I thought it would suit my requirements quite splendidly.
What attracted me first was its bold yet pretty animal print design, the dooyoo picture shows it as being quite blue in colour but I found it to have more teal/green tones. The print is dashing without being extremely brash or "in your face" and I thought it would be great as an everyday bag for my vast amount of supplies due to it's reasonably large size. The material is quite thin and I was dubious as to how much wear and tear the bag would be able to take but since it was only £9 and I had already fallen in love with its design I decided to purchase it anyway.
The bag itself is 32cm in height with a width of 54cm, whilst I think this is generally a good size I know for certain I would never be able to fit in a weekend's amount of clothes and other bits and pieces; I daresay for people that travel light this wouldn't present a problem but for me a suitcase is most definitely needed for such occasions. The lining of the bag has a phone and zip pocket and there is also a large pocket on the front, this is ok but for me more pockets are always better; especially for really tiny items that may well get lost or end up right in the depths where locating them involves turning out the entire contents of your bag, rooting around frantically and usually in my case wailing and cursing as to where the dreaded thing has got to.
The straps of the bag are reasonably sturdy and are made to look like brown leather, though of course for the price you can't expect the real thing. I've owned the bag for a month or so now and I must say it has stood up quite well to daily wear and tear, I find it spacious enough to hold all the items I need and I have had a few friends admiring the overall look at it; they have been quite amazed that it's actually from Asda as it does look in my opinion quite a bit more expensive. In parts the material is quite light and so I imagine that soon enough it will start to look a bit grubby around the edges but as of yet it still looks pretty new.
Overall I think that it's a great bag that would be wonderful to take to the beach though should be bigger if it is to serve its intended use of being a weekend bag. Love the look of it but could be improved by a thicker material, just to give it that tad bit more of quality. 4/5 stars.
Once we had booked our week away to Spain, I set about looking for holiday buys so I could by things a little at a time to save one big expense. One of the first things I bought was a bag to take on the airplane. I needed a bag that was large enough to house a portable DVD player, book, extra nappies, wet wipes, snacks and the like. When doing my weekly shop, I spotted this in Asda and thought it would be perfect.
The bag, although described as a weekend bag, is quite small. There is no way I would be able to fit all of my things in for a weekend away. It is approximately 30cm high, 50cm wide and 15cm deep. This is bigger than your average handbag, but not big enough to be a weekend bag.
The bag has a funky, almost leopard print, design. With the green spots outlined by black sitting on a gold/yellow background. The trim around the pocket and end of the zip is tan in colour, matching the tan handles. The handles are very strong and feel safe when you hold them in your hands. They are long enough to be able to put over your shoulder and be able to reach inside whilst the bag is still sitting on your shoulder.
The bag has a pocket which sits on the front of the bag, this pocket covers the majority of the front so it is nice and roomy. This only problem with this pocket is that it only does up with a single popper in the middle. I haven't used this pocket for anything over than rubbish when we was on the plane. I don't like the idea of putting anything of any value in there in fear of someone slipping their hand in.
Inside the bag is a phone pocket and a zip up pocket. The phone pocket isn't like old bags with the thin little pocket, it is quite big and I can fit my Blackberry inside without any problems. The zip up pocket is the perfect size for a purse, I can just squeeze mine in. These pockets are ideal if the bag is being used as an every day bag, it saves you rummaging trying to find each item.
The main inside of the bag is quite roomy, I was able to put in everything I needed for the flight and my wrap around small handbag with room to spare. Before and after the holiday, I've also occasionally used this bag as a main bag as it is the perfect size to fit in my daughter bits and pieces, nappies, wet wipes, drink, change of clothes. Like I said previously, I wouldn't be able to use this bag as a weekend bag as it isn't THAT big!
I paid £9 from my local Asda for this bag. I think that is fantastic value for money. It has a trendy design and is of a nice size. It's big, but not too big to not be used as an every day bag. It isn't big enough for a weekend bag, however.
