      Decent bag here!

In around 3 and a half months time I'm embarking on a trip around Europe with four friends. We are travelling via train, utilising some £300 inter-rail tickets we have ordered. Because of this I've been routing through my loft for a suitable bag - the Cordoba suitcase I found is a great looking bag, but is it suitable for a travelling holiday (where I'll be moving around frequently instead of staying in the same hotel)? The suitcase has wheels (two plastic flimsy looking things) on its back side which are supported by two stumps at the front to give the bag stand-ability. Accompanying these components is a retractable handle at the top. These additions to the main structure of the bag make it suitable for pulling around airports, and they work excellently in unison on smooth surfaces. As soon as you encounter any bumps of any kind however, this formula fails. Working best with this suitcase are its simpler elements - the pockets need to made with ease of use in mind, and they have. The interior (largest) section of the case is accessed via a hooped double zip which can be pad-locked. Within this compartment (used to hold larger items, such as clothing) is a smaller interior zipped compartment. The small storage pockets (zipped) on the inside and outside can be used to store smaller items, such as toiletries and journeying entertainment (books, mp3 players, etc) in a secure environment. Due to the tight, rigid structure of the bag, the outside compartments do not flex out much, restricting what items you can contain within them. However, they are a welcome and useful addition to the bag - and they are especially useful once you are stationed in your holiday apartment, for there's room for storing things where shelving/cup-boarding is restrictive. the bag weighs approximately 3KG, which is something to consider when you are travelling with a weight restriction - I.e. the standard 20KG for many plane journeys. It can carry around 45-50 litres of items within - combined across all of its compartments. The materials the bag is made from are high quality and durable. They are NOT slash proof (as some new models are), but they do the trick and will survive multiple long journeys over years and years. Overall there isn't much to fault, the bag contains all the elements required for a standard holiday journey - I.e. car to plane to hotel, hotel to plane to car to home. For my travels I think I need something which is a little more hands on, which can be picked up and carried on your back while travelling.

        good suitcase

I have a smaller and larger cordoba expander case and I think the two are well made. The 55cm suit case is well made and gives a lot of protection to your gear when you need to pack it all in to a case. When you go on your holidays or on short trips its good to know that your stuff will be safe and I think its better to pay a bit more and get a decent suitcase. I have seen these cases on sale for £119 but when I got mine I was lucky because the cases were reduced by a lot. My bigger case was £79 in the sale and the smaller one was £55. I was happy with the price because these are very good cases and they last well. The cases can be expensive because they are made by samsonite and I know you can buy much cheaper cases. I think the quality of the samsonite brand makes it worth spending a bit more to buy suitcases made by them. I have noticed the samsonite cases are better made with good stitching and zips. The 55 cm case has storage space for shorter trips but its not as good for longer holidays because its smaller than my other case. I think it is useful to have a couple of sizes of suitcase because I don't always need a great big case all the time. The front pockets on the suitcase can store extras if I need them to. I think this is good because I sometimes end up wanting to pack in a few more things and end up short of space in the main compartment. The inside of the suitcase is not as roomy as my larger case but it works well for weekend trips etc. There is a top zip section inside the case which is helpful. The wheels on the samsonite cordoba suitcase are good and I haven't had any problems with them when using a fully packed case. The wheels don't get stuck and they are easy to clean if I need to clean them up a bit. The way the case is made is good when it comes to locking the case. The zips can be locked up on this case and I find that very easy and useful. The built in combination lock is there ready to use. When you put the zip tags in place and it holds them shut and locked tight. With this case you don't even need to get a padlock and that saves a bit of money and stops me looking for keys to open locks etc. The case is very well made and it comes in black or red. I think both look good but the black is more masculine. The material used is very good it has a quality that I like and I think it looks smart. The handles on the case work ok and I like the way the top handle pushes in or out when you need it. I would recommend it the case because it works well.

        Disadvantages

Recommend this case to everyone although the price is on the high side.

Needed a new case as my current one is battered and bruised from travelling hundreds of miles around the world, I opted for the Cordoba Cabin Suitcase. At just over £100 to purchase it wasn't the cheapest case available, as I saw several other similar look a like cases for around half the price but I went for it because it seems to hold better and looked better compared with the other inferior cases. When the case is empty it weights in around about 3-3.5kg and with a capacity of around 45-50 litres that isn't too shabby. When travelling I do carry quite a few clothes with me and using this case I've never had to downsize what I've wanted to bring with me. When I bought it the case came with a three digit combination lock to protect it from thieves although it isn't the thickest of padlocks and could probably be broken into using a thin metal pipe. The case features small storage pockets on both the inside and the outside. I found these aren't the greatest for storing large items. They are mainly meant for really small items, like the things you forget till last minute to put into your case. The interior is made of denier polyester which isn't the thickest material and after several uses I can tell it is starting to wear and could split in the near future. The wheels are large enough to give good balance and coordination while rushing through the airport. There is both a side handle and a top handle depending if you'd rather pull or carry the case. For added durability and protection the case has plastic base protection and ABS side panels. I found these faired well when thrown around and because of the material used it keeps the overall weight of the case light.
