“ Brand: Lidl / Type: Peas „
Early last year I made a massive bulk purchase of mushy peas at Lidl. They had an offer on where if you spent £30 you got £10 off. I ended up spending a tenner or more on mushy peas to get my £10 off and effectively they were free. Sadly, we recently ran out of our 'stock' so picked up another tin recently while I was in store at Lidl.
We brand we had last year is no longer available so I picked up a tin of these Freshona Mushy Processed Peas. A 410g tin cost 29p. I used to pay 25p a tin and use them regularly so I only bought one tin to try them. I am glad I only got one tin.
The tin has a built in ring pull to make it really easy to open. The metal tin is recyclable as is the paper label. The label is mostly pea green in colour, with the word 'Freshona' emblazoned in red, thus making the tins easy to spot amongst the other tinned goods. However, I would urge you to avoid!
The peas are a really yucky pale green in colour and do not smell at all nice on first whiff. At first I honestly thought they smelt like newborn's nappy (sorry for the TMI), but they do smell a bit more like mushy peas once they have been heated.
On taste they are really bland and I was not at all impressed.
Per quarter of a can the nutritional values are as follows:
Cals - 82
Protein - 6.1g
Carbs - 13.5g
Fat - 0.4g
Make your own mind up but I really would not recommend them.
Don't breathe in...
