I purchased this to go with my new tv to get a cinema feel to my living room, and it worked im really happy with it. At first i was unsure if to buy this one due to the price but it really is worth it. My daughter makes me turn it on really loud when we watch her cartoons so she can scream along to the songs. I have never bought this brand before but i wouldnt look past it again.
This stands about 90cm high and slots into the smallest of places as it is only 30cm by 30cm. Giving a good 60watts of sound.
It has four lovely feet that make the base of the stand almost look as if it is floating above the carpet, or laminate flooring, depending on what your preference is.
It's powered from the mains, with the socket and the on/off button being on the rear, just above the base.
On the top is where the ipod goes, slotting into a cradle that sits at the back of the top section. In front of the cradle there are the control buttons and dial. These are the power button, next/back buttons, volume up and down, stop, play/pause and more, with them being spread out in such a way that it is impossible to miss the button you want.
This did come with a remote control, which meant that there was no need to get up and down when I want to swap tunes or adjust the functions. This remote let me do everything I wanted from the comfort of my chair. I could flick through sounds on the ipod, even listen to the radio at the touch of a button, or two, letting me browse through radio stations at my leisure. I could even mute the device using the remote in case the boss called and wondered why I was not in work.
I recall that this came with a few bits that were designed to let you swap the connection in the cradle, but I never used them so I don't know if they were any good.
It's not one of those speakers that has a really popular brand name on it but it is surprisingly good for a name I've never really heard of. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and it does it well.
The only downside was the cost, which was close to £100. This sounds a lot for a speaker but it is worth every penny.
Purchased to partially replace my low level iPod dock I almost didn't buy this one as I didn't know enough about the brand. After procuring a voucher enabling me to purchase for half price I thought this a far more reasonable price to test out a new brand.
The dock stands just slightly lower than 1 metre in height, the iPod sits at the top.
The dock amplifies sound enough to fill my downstairs living area, sound is replicated as downloaded to the iPod so can only be as good as the original quality of download.
Alternate uses are possible, there is space for an SD card as well as USB port. I use it as much to listen to music from my phone using the USB connection as using it as an iPod dock.
The remote control is sufficient but not always responsive when first used after a break.
You need enough diy skills to screw the base of the dock into place, screws are provided and it's very simple to do and requires no special knowledge.
Placement of the speaker needs consideration as you don't want the sound to be eaten by walls or furniture too close to the speaker. A corner placement is ideal but pulled forward to prevent sound distortion against the walls.
A five star product but with the disadvantage of been priced very high for a brand that has little history and is not by any means a household name.
From the name and images, it is obvious that this isn't your typical ipod speaker, but is infact 208 x 189 x 870mm, which includes the base stand. This makes it a very unique product and means that the ever increasing price of things as they decrease in size has suddenly been turned around.
The speaker contains two 25W speakers as well as a 30W subwoofer. Amongst this, it also has, an SD/MS/MMC card reader, LED display, sleep timer (so it's perfect for in your room) and an FM radio. Of course the docking station itself also charges your ipod/iphone, so there is no need to worry about this.
The colours are slightly disappointing from the pictures present online, as they are not quite what they are assumed to be, but all in all this is no reason not to buy this handy speaker.
We can tell that cost has been cut in some areas due to the quality of it, such as the cheap, plastic feel of the base stand which does not match the rest of the tower, making it look un-elegant. The remote is also not great on the eye. It looks cheap and probably could have been bought from the supermarket for under a fiver! So what am I really paying for?
Excellent sound quality. The sound that comes out of the tower is amazing and can easily fill an entire room without having to have it up as loud as it can go. I am reasonably glad that I bought this product, but as mentioned there are just a few things that I would alter if I could.
Because Lenco isn't a well-known brand, I was wary of buying this product without testing it out first. I ended up getting from HMV for £100. I'm so impressed with it, it's the best iPod dock you can get for that price. If it had a popular brand name on it, you'd be looking at paying at least twice the price for the same quality.
When I got it out of the box, I realised I had to screw the stand on myself. The screws ended up going in a bit bent, but that could just be my bad DIY skills.
The sound quality is incredible. It easily matches up to the bigger brands, which was surprising.
As well as a dock, I can plug a USB lead in, an SD card, and it can be used as a regular speaker. You can charge your iPod in the dock, your phone in the USB, and have your laptop plugged in playing stuff at the same time.
If you need to buy an Xmas or birthday present, or replace your smaller dock which you probably spent the same amount on, you definitely need to get this. The brand is becoming more recognised so I'd suggest getting the products cheap before the price goes up.
There's no doubt the Lenco high power ipod tower looks good. It stands about a metre off the ground but i am always wary of products like this because usually if the products looks really good, it will either be stupidly expensive or there will be something wrong with the quality of sound. At around £100 i thought i might be buying a rubbish speaker that looks really good but actually it works well for the moeny, in any case if it was made by Bose or another big name brand i bet the price would be about £150 for the same speaker. Building upwards is a technique that has been tried before in the speaker market. It saves space by making the width of the speaker smaller so you can fit it into smaller spaces.
The speaker is not difficult to set up only taking a few minutes but every time you turn the system off and on it goes back to default settings so you have to fiddle around to get it back to your method of input which can can be annoying. The speaker is plit up into two with a 25W speaker and 30W subwoofer. The sound quality is not top of the range, but this is not a top of the range speaker. It does come with an FM radio but unless you don't have a radio on one of your devices by now it's not a very good feature as it is low quality. If i was paying £200 i would be dissapointed but in terms of value for money it's really good. The speaker has a small LED display which is quite dim and the controls are a bit fidely. Also the speakers remote is made of plastic and feels a bit cheap and chunky.
Despite a few flaws this is speaker i'd say is definetly worth the money. There are better out there for more of your money but most of all it sounds good for what it's worth and will look swish in your bedroom.
I ordered this product from amazon after seeing one displayed in my local HMV. The main draw to the product is not only its looks, which I personally feel are beautiful, but also its sound quality which can rival that of companies such as BOSE, and at a third of the price I don't think you could ask for more. Not only that but the product has an iPod/iPhone charging dock, a 60 preset radio, an AUX port and a side USB port for playing music for a USB drive. This means that you get so much versatility in how you can play music from this product it blows competitors out of the water. Furthermore it comes with a small black remote which works perfectly, even in controlling the music playing from your iPod. After purchasing this a couple of my friends saw it and wanted to buy the same, by which time amazon were sold out. So my advice would be to buy this amazing product while stocks still last, because at this price, they won't.
Got this at asda last year for £75 and I have to say it's a real bargain. It's basically an oversized ipod dock for the living room. Not only does it amplyfy your ipod (or other audio device) it has an integrated FM radio with 60 preset channels.
The main draw however is the sound quality and appearance both of which far exceeded my expectations of such a product at this price range. Another the advantage is the remote control.
I have only tried it with my ipod so far but it comes with usb, sd and aux sockets so you should be able to use pretty much any cd / mp3 player / pc with it.
Great sound quality.
Equalizer allows bass/treble adjustment.
FM radio which picked up a signal well and comes with presets.
Can be used with a variety of audio / multimedia devices.
Excellent value - this sort of thing often sets you back two or three times as much.
Variety of colours to match your decor.
I want one in every room!
Over all a great product which does the job flawlessly. Sound quality is equivalent to similar products going for £200+. Recommended to all.
