I bought my Gear 4 iPhone speakers last Christmas when I had my iPhone 3gs in Currys last year for £45 on a special deal, which I think was a really good price, I bought it because I wanted something to listen to music on in my room and also because I thought it was rather funky looking and it was cheaper than other iPhone docking systems in store. The Features This docking system is compatible with the iPhone 3gs, it charges the phone while you are using it which is quite handy as it means that your battery won't run done while you are listening to music. There is a date and time displayed on the main boxes screen in blue, its rather funky and modern looking and more importantly it is really easy to set the date and time on this device, all the instructions are easily laid out in the manual if you don't manage to work it out for yourself. There is also an alarm feature on this device which is quite handy, and is definitely loud enough to wake me up on time for work. This docking system can be plugged in at home and does not need batteries in order to run, this was a big plus for me as I hate having to constantly change batteries. There are 3 different functions on this docking system, they are: FM radio Listen to music though iPhone AUX These features are really easy to skip through by pressing a button on the top of the main cube and selecting your desired feature. There are finally some volume buttons on the main cube that are very self explanatory, the volume level ability on this device are quite loud and I never need to turn it up to full power. What it Looks Like I really like the way that this docking device looks, there are three separate cubes, two are speakers and one is the main cube that holds the time and date on it in blue lights, this cube is also where you put your iPhone when you want to listen to music. The cubes can either stand side by side, or on top of each other, or in any design or pattern that you like, I like to keep mine two on the bottom and the main cube on top, sort of in pyramid stance What I think I am really happy with my Gear 4 purchase, I am currently unable to use the actual main iPhone dock because I upgraded to the iPhone 4s, however I can actually connect my iPhone 4 into this docking system by hooking it up to the headphone jack at the top of the phone, this is good as the docking system isn't completely wasted which is fantastic, but I cannot charge my iPhone 4s as this as the actual main dock (which allows charging) is only for the iPhone 3gs which is understandable but a little annoying. However when I actually had my old iPhone 3gs, I was able to charge my phone and listen to music through the main dock and it was really simple to do and the quality of the sound that came from the dock was great. The docking system looks really nice and is really easy to use, and when I was using it with my iPhone I found it so easy to play music from it. The sound quality that comes from this system is quite good, clear and crisp when using my iPhone to play music and also on the radio there is not much fuss, it is quite easy to pick up a good strong radio signal with this device, it is very clear and I can adjust the volume to an appropriate level. Overall Overall I would give this docking system 5 out of 5 stars, it looks the part and is really easy to use and the sound quality that comes from both the radio and the iPhone is really good quality. I think this is a really good buy and would recommend it to anyone with an iPhone 3gs. *also on ciao under lorrainek90
I bought these speakers mainly just because I wanted a cheap alarm clock where I could use my iPod for the alarm. They were only £40 so I wasn't really expecting much but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. These are actually a really nice set of speakers. The sound quality is much better than I expected and I actually use it now as my main iPod speakers. The great thing about this is just how easy it is to set up and use. Often with alarm clocks they can be quite fiddly which makes setting the time and alarm difficult but this isn't the case with this. I think being able to wake up to your iPod is a really great feature. It is so much nicer to be woken up by some soothing music than the harsh beeping of my old alarm clock. One of the other great features of the alarm clock is being able to set it so that it only comes on Monday through Friday. This means I don't have to remember to turn the alarm off at the weekends and then back on on Sunday evening.
I purchased this small set of speakers about 6 months ago for £40, mainly as a novelty set of speakers. For their size they produce a fairly decent sound, with a lot of depth, and good bass. The middle part of the speakers where you plug your iPod in has a time and date screen which is good, and it also has an alarm clock feature. There are a few disadvantages to these speakers, and the first one would be that they no longer charge my iPod. Im not sure why this is the case, but all other speakers do, and these ones seemed to stop charging it after about a month. Also, i know they are small, but they do not produce a sound as loud as i would like. Overall, a fairly decent set of speakers if you are looking for something small for your bedside table etc. Thanks.
Last summer I was on the search for an iPod docking station to charge my iPhone which included speakers. I visited one of the HMV stores in London and came across this great looking product. - Overview - The product is basically made up of three parts: 2 cube speakers which can be unplugged from the main unit and 1 control cube which shows the time and date. The product has an iPod/iPhone dock on the top with an auxiliary input in the back. There is also an under tray provided which keeps all the cubes together if required. - Usage - I personally find these speakers incredible for their size. I am currently travelling a lot and therefore find these speakers extremely portable. I literally unplug everything and place each cube in one corner of my suitcase. The display is a really nice dark blue colour which together with the black makes the unit look very stylish. The time, date and day are also shown on the screen when the product is turned off. There is an FM radio built in as well as an alarm and snooze button. What is more the unit also comes supplied with a european adaptor meaning you really can take this product everywhere. Another great aspect of these speakers is that my iPod can fit into the dock without removing the large case that is protecting it - This was a large factor when considering which to buy. - Sound - Obviously I wasn't expecting incredible sound but for the speaker size the sound quality has a good amount of depth and is perfect for my requirements. - Problems - The only real problem I have had with this product is that I get a message come up on my iPhone upon docking every now and again which states that the device does not support the iPhone. This however is not a problem as everything appears to work as normal and the device charges as it should. ---- All in all I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a lightweight portable iPhone speaker system which charges your iPod/iPhone as well, a really good buy!
