I would still recommend this product

When I got home a smile on my face and was asked "what you so bloody happy about?" and I replied "I got a bar of soap for £13" the only reaction I could expect was "£13 FOR A BAR OF SOAP!!!"

      Clinique
      So who are Clinique exactly?

Clinique was originally founded in 1968 by a single dermatologist who began with an assumption that hygeine and cleanliness was the beginning to treating all skin conditions e.g. dry, oily, normal or breakout skin. Since then Clinique has been self motivated to customise their products to individual types of skin to suit an individual persons needs.

Clinique thus created a three step skin care system which consists of cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing the skin. If you go into Boots and get a free skin care consultation they can point out for you what skin care products are best for your skin type and how to use them effectively to get the best results. Of course with the various different skin care providers they all have anti-aging and eye creams which were introduced in 1999.
      What's my skin type?
      Any person can find out their skin type online through the Clinique websites (www.clinique.co.uk) and fill out a short survey to receive a free consultation on what your skin type is and what Clinique products would be recommeded to you. I did this a few minutes ago as I suffer with spots and it's something that has cost me money on concealor and foundation to help hide them although they aren't as bad as when they first were. The questions you would be asked are;

What are your main skin concerns? Select two
Is your skin dry, oily or a bit of both?
How does your skin respond without sun protection?
What is your natural skin colour without a tan?
What is the size of your pores?
How often do you tend to break out?
Do you have any surface facial lines? (wrinkles)
      What is your eye colour?
What is your natural hair colour?
The survey takes approximately two minutes and I'd say the only question which some may find to answer would be eye colour if you have heterochromia like me (Heterochromia is when you have one blue eye and one green or you have two green eyes and one of them is half brown or if you're like me and you have pale blue eyes with green around the pupil) in case you do have this then I'd suggest to pick the eye colour which you see more of e.g. Is there more blue or is there more green?

After the survey you will then be told what skin type you have. Mine came back as a Dry Combination Skin type as I have oily skin in areas and I look like a lobster without my SPF 1000000 (I'm a walking talking milk bottle). There will be bullet points about your skin type and you will also have a customised skincare system and another tab or two recommended to you. In my case I have recommended for breakouts and recommended for pores.
Anti Blemish Cleansing Bar for Face and Body
So finding out what my skin type was I hopped along to Boots and she recommended that if I was more concerned about my spots then maybe I should try the anti blemish range which is suitable for all skin types and is specific for treating spots then said if I was happy with that I could try more of the products and go back to try different products for step two and three of the three step skin care system. I decided to give it a go but went for the bar of soap as soap lasts longer and I was told that it was £13 for 150 grams. I paid and left.

      Looking at the back of the box it states;
      ANTI-BLEMISH SOLUTIONS 3-STEP SKIN CARE: STEP 1
Cleansing Bar F0r Face and Body
      All Skin types
      Allergy Tested. 100% Fragrance Free.
Mild soaps helps clear and prevent breakouts on the face and body. Helps treat and prevent blemishes. Removes firt and excess oil. Unclogs pores. Skin looks and feels smooth and comfortabe.

My impression so far I feel that this is a little overpriced for a bar of soap simply because you go to the Body Shop and you can get a bar of soap for £2 so I wondered why I should pay the extra £11 for - a bar of soap. I also felt that the information on the back of the box was short and snappy and it seemed like there was bullet points instead of actually explaining how the bar of soap is supposed to help bannish my spotty face. I mean lets face it spots aren't really in this season are they and the last place we want them is on our face (at least if they're down there nobody can see them). So Overall at first sight I wasn't that impressed.
Why did I decide to go with Clinique?
I have spots there's no other way to beat around the bush because I'm female and I don't have a bush on my face so I can't. I had tried everything going except wee - that's just disgusting. Nothing seemed to work for me and sometimes things would start to work for a little bit but then there'd be like a glass barrier where it would only hold off half as many spots but I was still getting a fair few so I wondered if I'd ever get rid of the spots. Although I do cover them up really well.

So one day I went out with the other half and his mates and their girlfriends and one of them had perfect skin and she told me she worked in boots and worked in the skin care range. I asked her what skin care products I should use and how to get rid of the spots. So she asked "Do you cleanse, exfoliate, clarify, moisturise.... blah blah blah blah blah (she talks so fast) you need to do several things twice a day to help get rid of spots if they're your main problem. How do you remove make-up?" So I wondered what that had to do with anything and she said that baby wipes might be good for a baby's bum but it DOESN'T remove make-up so when I remove what I can see with a baby wipe I'm not removing what make-up is embedded in my epidermis (skin) and make-up can stay in your skin for up to seven years (now that's disgusting). She then said to try the Clinique range as it's fairly priced (I thought she was born on a banana boat when she said that) and it works really well on the skin and even their make-up is good for your skin. So I ignored her for a bit but then decided to give it a chance anyway.
      Using the bar of soap
So I fill up the sink get my pretty pink flannel and leave that to soak for a minute and I remove my make-up with a cotton pad and Rimmel London Make-up remover (I'll do a review don't worry) and then I go back and get the bar of soap and wash my face and then I clarify and moisturise my skin (I had little travel size clinique products too which I decided to try).

Rubbing the bar on the palm of my hand the soap felt solid leaving a thin creamy bit of soap on my hand and then a bit of water and I lathered up the soap that I'd got from the bar. While I was lathering it up it felt soft yet thick and applying this to my wet skin it felt soft still. So washing my face and them removing the remainder of the soap I clarified and moisturised my face and I do this twice daily still. There's nothing more too it really it's a bar of soap there's not much more I could do with it.
      Results
So I've been using this for a few months now and at first OK I didn't have a million spots where you could play dot to dot on my face it wasn't that bad but to me it was bad enough. Over the first month I noticed that my skin was going into different stages so to speak where my spots were disappearing.

      Stage one
So I started to notice that my skin was starting to feel less oily than it had done usually which I was impressed with as I used to have to keep re-applying foundation and/or concealor so that it didn't look like I was trying to look like those women in Death becomes her. When I used the clarifying lotion I also felt a bit of a sting/burning sensation on the areas of my face where the spots were which obviously hurt and meant that they were there.
      Stage Two
After a week or two I then noticed that the spots I had were now turning into flakey skin or flat scabs and they were slightly red so I still needed the concealor to help mask those. This time I noticed my skin was feeling much smoother than it had done when I first started to use the clinique range. I was still using the clarifying lotion at this point and I noticed that actually I was starting to feel less stinging on my face which to me meant that I was either immune to it or the spots were actually going.

      Stage Three
Now the flakey/scabby bits of the spots are gone and there was a little redness but nothing much. My skin felt smoother and softer and I barely had any spots and I still don't feel that stinging sensation when I use the clarifying lotion.
So they're my results and I'm estatic with them. Yes I do get the occassional spot when I forget to remove my make-up at night when I've gone out and got legless so to speak. On the whole though I am impressed and obviously this bar isn't just a bar of soap that isn't worth £13 (probably £8 at most) but it does as promised and it's been great to actually find something that will remove my spots instead of irritating them or my skin and making them worst or just getting rid of half of them. This has removed them all and the occassional spot always occurs when I have forgotten to wash off my make-up after a night out.

      Warnings and suitability
      Well the back of the box says;
WARNING: For external use only. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Using other topical blemish preparations along with this product may increase dryness or irritation. If this occurs only one preparation should be used unless directed by a doctor. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help right away.

So in other words if you have a child who swears don't literally wash their mouth out with soap.
Obviously don't eat the bar of soap only wash your face and body with it and if it starts to irritate your skin then stop using this product or use less if you're using two or more products to help remove spots. One should be enough and they will go eventually with patience.

I would say that this is suitable only for people who have problems with spots. If you have a normal skin type then this will dry out your skin and possibly cause irritation so I would only recommend this product if you have blemishes which just don't seem to go away no matter how many products you use.
How does it affect my skin
Obviously I use this because I am likely to get spots due to my skin type and this does seems to dry my skin out a little obviously because it's to help prevent and cure blemishes which is why I'd only advise somebody with blemishes to use this.

Usually I would say it's a bad thing to have dry skin caused by products and it is but it's easy to resolve this issue if you think that you're skin is becoming too dry and you can always use a moisturiser to help rehydrate your skin.
      Does it dehydrate your skin?
I think this does dehydrate my skin a little but as far as I'm concerned as long as I moisturise my skin afterwards then it shouldn't be a problem. Moisturising our skin is important to help combat spots as well as this can help prevent spots in itself.

      My tips on skin care
I've looked into a lot of skin care tips to help combat spots and ones which I've felt have been useful include; moisturiser, your pillow, your phone and being healthy.
If you're somebody who thinks your skin is really oily then ask yourself why first. If you're using products which are drying your skin out then this could actually be the reason as to why. You see when you dry your skin out too much you're irritating your pores which release natural oils gradually over the day therefore if your skin is dry your skin will work harder to release natural oils making your skin oily. So if you use something that is drying your skin out then moisturise or just moisturise anyway as it can help prevent signs of aging later on in life.

Your pillow is another thing - think about it - you sleep for around six to eight hours on your pillow and how often do you change your pillow? It's not necessarily the case either so you may want to wash both the pillow and the case as you will actually get germs from your pillow which will clog up your pores and create spots.
Another thing is your phone, have you ever been on the phone and then noticed a bit of make-up on the phone? If you have then imagine what else is on your phone besides make-up. You touch your phone with you fingers and whether you realise there are germs/dirt or not you will leave bits of dirt and then somebody rings and you put the phone to your ear and the dirt is then pressed onto your face. If you notice spots more so on one side of your face then this could be why. Wipe your phone over before you make a call to help reduce this.

Finally - be healthy and happy. If you eat seven takeaways a week and you drink loads of fizzy drinks not only will you be packing more pounds than the bank but it'll show in your skin, hair and nails. Nails will chip easily, hair will break easily and become greasier and so will your skin therefore promoting blemishes. Make sure you eat your veg and better still drink plenty of water. You'll feel happier too.
      What does it look like
So this basically looks like a white/cream bar of soap with Clinique embeded. The soap comes in a green dish with a lid with Clinique on in silver writing. The inside tray which the soap lies on has a solid bubble effect and can be taken out of the tray if an individual wanted to. The box is green with Clinique and a "C" in silver writing and then a dark greeen for anti-blemish solutions and other bits of info.
I do think the packaging is a bit too much and although it looks green it doesn't exactly seem environmentally green and when you first buy the soap the soap is wrapped in thick silver paper with a clinique sticker which seems like a bit of a waste to me. When you need to replace the soap you can't just buy a new soap and keep the tray you actually have to buy a new soap with a new tray. Although I think maybe you could always sell the tray on ebay - maybe I don't know.

This was a bit of a let down and where it looks professional on one hand it just seems really over packaged for just a bar of soap in my opinion.
      Value for money
I do think there's product name to the price of course and at £13 you'd expect a bit more soap really. I do find the products on their website to be overpriced however this is the only thing that has worked for me so I will continue to use this range and will share my experiences. In Boots you just get the product and of course you'd probably want more. Buy the product from the clinique website and you can get free samples of your choice too and of course they do the "spend so much and get this free" so it might be worth ordering online to test other products before you buy them. However, I do think that it's not too far from being a fair price as the soap does last a few months and for me I find about five months and over five months that around £2/3 so it's not badly priced but it's still a bar of soap and others will last probably just as long. I think it would have been better if the product was around teh £8 mark as I would have found this to be more affordable and more reasonable.

      Conclusion
I will recommend this product or this range to a friend if they feel that their skin range isn't working for them but I will only recommend this specific product to somebody who actually needs anti-blemish solutions. I'm going to rate this four out of five stars as I don't think it's the most environmentally friendly product with excess packaging and I don't think that it's exactly reasonably priced. I'm happy with this product and will keep using this and others from the clinique range.
Sorry it's such a long review I just had a lot to say about it.

      Disadvantages

An okay facial soap bar but there are better products out there at cheaper prices

After buying a Clarins lip balm a while ago the lady on the counter tried her best to get me to spend more money (as they do) by insisting that Clarins beauty soap was exactly what I needed for my skin. Having already decided that there was no way I was going to pay £13 for a small circular bar of soap I declined politely and headed home to see if I could perhaps get it cheaper on good old Ebay.

Although I did find the same bar costing £7 what caught my eye was actually a similar product by Clinique - 'Anti Blemish Solutions Antibacterial Soap For Face and Body' (phew!) costing just £4 for a 150g bar, normally costing around the £18 mark from what I had seen in the past and I deemed this to be far more economical so ordered a bar to test it out.

I have used Clinique products sporadically over the years, mainly so when I was working full time before the children came along when I had more of a disposable income and could afford to splash out full price on such luxuries. Because of my experience with this brand I knew they were in the 'premier league' of cosmetics so knew kind of, what quality to expect.

A soap is a soap right?
This is an antibacterial soap that is designed to be used on both the face and the body to eliminate blotchy red spots and help reduce acne.

      Soapy but not ropey~
When my parcel arrived from Ebay I knew instantly it was my soap as I hadn't ordered anything else for a while so I eagerly opened the packaging. My soap was housed in a papery/card wrapping and after removing this outer layer I was presented with what appeared to be an ordinary looking bar of soap.

After examining it further I found though it appeared to be a creamy off white colour at first in certain lights it did have an 'antibacterial look' to it as there was a green hue to the bar.
Apart from saying this has a fresh, but also a slightly medicinal scent to it it is quite difficult to pinpoint any particular fragrance to it. It's not exactly unpleasant but it's not exactly alluring either!

      My experience of using this~
I do think I made the right decision at ordering this soap instead of the Clarins one and here is why..

Having decided from the onset that I would use this just on my face as I get breakouts of spots on my chin at times though no where else, and I thought it would benefit me more by using it first thing in a morning (though I don't know why).

I started using this the day after it arrived (almost 3 weeks ago now) and started off by lathering it up before proceeding to
apply it to my skin. I found that though it did lather a little it doesn't lather as much as 'regular' soaps do though it gave enough bubbles to apply to my already dampened face.

I found it rubbed into my skin quite well - as much as a soap can that it - and the antibacterial scent seemed a lot stronger when the soap was wet compared to in it's dry form.
My skin felt slightly taut whilst using this though at the same time it had a tingle which I normally associate with menthol type face washes, but the main factor was that my skin felt like it was being cleansed properly.

As soon as I had finished massaging this into my face I noticed that my cheeks did feel tight but as soon as I rinsed the suds away with tepid water the tautness disappeared luckily.
My skin felt cleansed and soft but with a slight firmness to it, though not uncomfortably so. There were no dry patches after using this which I had dreaded as sometimes soaps have caused flakiness to my forehead, particularly ones that claim to be solely for the facial area.

      Results then?~
I have stuck to using this on a morning now for the past few weeks and my skin has felt certainly very clean if nothing else. I haven't had many outbreaks of spots either though that could be entirely coincidental with the use of this as the outbreaks tend to be sporadic anyway.

My skin seems to have gotten used to the soap now as it doesn't feel as tight whilst washing with it so that's certainly a plus as I really don't like the uncomfortable tightness normally associated with facial soaps no matter how fleeting the feeling lasts.

      Would I recommend this?~
If you can buy this on Ebay for a similar price to what I have paid then by all means it is worth trying especially if you suffer from blemishes or acne. I don't think it's worth it's hefty price tag generally though and even if I did have a much more disposable income it's not something I would pay full price for as I feel there are far greater facial cleansers out there at cheaper prices that are much more effective.

I do highly recommend ebay though for these premium brands as I have been able to afford much more luxury items at a fraction of the cost which is ideal if you are trying something out for the first time.

Okay soap, did the job but not worth it's full price.

        .

I didn't tend to use Soap on my face all that much in the past as I used to find that it would dry my Cheeks out more than what they already were, but when I was recommended that this would help with my bad skin then I thought I would give it a try. The person that recommended it also had spot prone skin so figured if they felt it was good then perhaps it would be.

I got the 100g bar of this for £13. Perhaps a bit expensive for a bar of Soap, but this is a brand named product and the price is quite average for this brand.

This just looks like your average bar of Soap. Looks like the picture so a smooth bar of Soap with the Clinique branding engraved into the Bar.

You use this like any other bar of Soap. So wet your face, wet your hands and rub the bar between them to get a good lather. This seems to lather up well enough and produces plenty of little fine Bubbles from just a short rub.

There isn't much scent to this. It smells pretty crisp and fresh. It doesn't smell Creamy or heavily perfumed, and there is a slight hint of a sort of Anti Bacterial sort of scent.

When I rubbed this over my face I felt that this seemed to be tightening my Cheeks, which i obviously didn't want it to do, but after rinsing this off well and patting my face dry then I found that the dryness had pretty much went away and my face was left soft, smooth and clean.

I found that this seemed to dry my spots out and although they perhaps looked dry and a bit kind of flaky the day after I first used this, the next day they seemed to be smaller and less noticible. I found that this seemed to keep the spots at bay and seemed to balance my face out a bit too so it wasn't overly Oily.

This seems to be a good product from my Oily spot prone skin, and the Bar appears to be lasting a good lenght of time. I will be buying again when this is finished.

        A good bar of Soap.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        My review

The clinique brand is one of my favourites, i have had many of their products over the years.
I never really suffered with spots or acne until i was pregnant with the twins. My skin changed and i expected to be glowing however not me the more hormonal i got more spots appeared. I was already suffering from antenatal depression during pregnancy. To cheer me up my family and friends all chipped in and my mum presented me a huge gift basket filled with all kinds of goodies this was where i got my bar of clinique acne solutions cleansing soap from.

I have bought a bar of the soap since receiving the first one and i bought it direct from the clinique website. The bar of clinique acne solutions cleansing soap costs around £13.00. You possibly could get the soap cheaper else where if you shop around on the likes of ebay and amazon some chemists too.

Clinique acne solutions cleansing soap comes in its own soap dish a real nice touch. The soap dish is light green in colour made from plastic and comes with a lid. The lid clips to the soap box, it also has the posh looking clinique logo written in silver on it. I especially like the box because it stops to soap drying out and perfect for travelling with too.

The bar of soap is slightly longer and thicker compared to a normal bar of soap. It is white in colour with the cliniquie long on the bar of soap too. There is no smell or scent from the soap at all. Clinique acne solutions cleansing soap can be used all over the body because not only does it help clear spots but its great from people with other skin problems like exema dermatitis etc.

Clinique acne solutions cleansing soap bar is to be used like a normal soap bar. It lathers up well and feels smooth on the skin, it leaves my skin feeling soft and most importantly clean.
I used the soap on my face where the spots were, it did not sting or cause any irritations nor did it leave my face feeling dry like some soaps and spot treatments did. I had to use the soap twice a day for around one week before i noticed a difference in my skin. The spots did start clearing up and when gone they did not come back this could have been due to another change in my hormones at the time but i do still use the soap now and again when i see spots coming.

I find it hard to express how good the soap is, it takes away the dirty and oils yet moisturises at the same time.

Clinique acne solutions cleansing soap bar lasted nearly a year but did not go off because i looked after it by rinsing the bar and keeping it in the plastic case.
I only use the bar if i feel a brake out of spots coming or when my time of the month is due because that always brings out the oily skin and spots.

If suffering with spots or blemishes then i can highly recommend the clinique acne solutions cleansing soap bar , it is expensive but will last a long time and really does clear the spots up.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A great cleanser from clinique

Usually when I'm purchasing face care products I go for those which are kind of middle of the range but after reading about the Clinique anti-blemish range I thought I would treat myself to some face care which is usually out of my budget range. But after reading about its benefits from other people who had tried it I just could not resist.

        The bar

When I received my cleansing bar it came sealed in plastic and then wrapped in a type of paper tissue material. I liked that it came sealed, as you knew no one had touched or tampered with it. What I would recommend is that you use a soap dish or keep the cleansing bar somewhere as I wrapped it back up after I had used it once and some of the tissue stuck to it. This is easy to remove but you can save the hassle by using a soap dish. Make sure you tell other people in your household that it is not soap for their hands though! That is something that you do not want to happen.
The anti-blemish solutions cleansing bar for face and body claims to help clear and prevent breakouts on face and body. It removes dirt and excess oil and unclogs pores.
I've never used this product on my body I tend to use it on my face in the mornings and evenings. After splashing my face with water I rub the soap onto my face and then use my hands to work up a lather. You only need to rub a small amount of the soap on your face as the product lathers up really well to leave your face covered in soft foam.
There is not really a distinctive smell to this cleansing bar it is fairly neutral.
All you need to do then is rinse your face with some warm water. The lather washes off easily to leave your skin feel extremely clean and refreshed.
        Results

After using this soap along with steps 2 and 3 in the Clinique skin care range my face has never felt so clean.
After just 2 days my skin even looks better. Problem areas have become hardly noticeable. When I have breakouts I tend to get quite red skin in these areas and this cleansing bar has completely solved this problem. Issues such as blackheads, clogged pores and blemishes are now either completely non-existent or barely noticeable.
And as this product is for all skin types it does not irritate.
I have only used these products all together not on their own so I cannot comment on how they work with other products but together they can work wonders.
        Price

To purchase this on its own will cost you about £12.50. I managed to get a set of miniatures to try the skin care range out on ebay for about £15.00.
        Conclusion

I'm defiantly going to buy this again as my skin has never looked or felt better. I think that it is worth paying the extra bit of money to make sure you do not get any nasty breakouts. I would rate this product 10 out of 10.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

I won't be buying this again!

I recently decided to wage war on the spots that plague my back and face from time to time. I suppose I'm fortunate not to get too many of them, but the ones I do get more than make up for their quantity by being particularly stubborn- more like large, red lumps under the skin than little pimples. Not at all pleasant. Perhaps because of the particular 'brand' of spot I suffer from, I'd had very little success in the past using cheap and cheerful face washes and creams. So when the latest batch of spots arrived out of the blue, I decided it was time to try something a little pricier, in the hope that it would pack a more powerful punch.

I'd heard great things about Clinique's Anti-Blemish Spray, so I went straight to the website, only to find that they'd discontinued it (surprising, given the rave reviews I've heard about it). They suggested an Anti-Blemish Cleansing Bar as a suitable alternative, so I bought it, inwardly wincing at paying £12.50 for what looked like a bar of soap. Still, if it did the trick, it would seem like a small price to pay.

When the bar arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it came in its own container- a green soap dish, with a domed lid that lifted off. Yep, I'm easily pleased! But it was a good idea to have somewhere separate to keep the bar clean and dry. The bar itself looked exactly like a generously sized soap- white, and domed like the lid. The only difference was that it had no fragrance at all, probably a good thing for people with problem skin.

The good thing about this bar is that it can be used on face and body, and, being a soap, it's easy to apply it to those hard-to-reach places like your back. You use it exactly as you would a normal soap- lathering it up in the bath or showering and applying it to the areas where you're prone to breakouts. The idea is that the bar will help treat blemishes and prevent breakouts without drying out the skin, although quite how it does this, I'm not sure- there's a dearth of information on the Clinique website, although Salicylic Acid, commonly used in spot creams, features near the top of the ingredients list on the bar's box.

I started using this daily on my face and back, and found it as easy to lather up and apply as any other soap. I was also pleased that it didn't dry out my skin at all, like some cleansers do. However, after about a week's use, I was surprised to see that a large, angry looking spot had sprung up on my back. Optimistically, I thought that maybe I hadn't been using it for long enough for its preventative effects to have kicked in, but at least now I had something to test out its efficacy on. Over the next few weeks of use, however, the skin on my back went from bad to worse than it's ever been! I can't blame the bar itself- my skin is always sensitive to changes in climate, and I think that the onset of summer was probably the cause of this breakout. But the bar did absolutely nothing to prevent or reduce these blemishes, and I was left feeling like I'd wasted my money and my time.

So now, a month or two down the line, I'm left with a huge chunk of white soap sitting aimlessly in my bathroom. I might find the will to use it again at some point, but I don't hold out much hope for its effects after my last experience. The only thing I can think of that might explain the poor results I got is that my spots aren't stereotypical pimples- I suspect that they're somehow related to some problems I have with my immune system. But maybe I'm just making excuses for an ineffectual, overpriced product! Based on my personal experience, I certainly wouldn't recommend this glorified soap to anyone.

A soap for blemished skin that is great value for money!

Clinique's Anti Blemish Soap is the best value soap you could buy for skin that suffers from blemishes. Clinique seems to be the only skincare house that seems to have got skincare right for people who suffer from blemishes or acne. The soap soothes and cleanses the skin and helps to treat blemishes.

            ***Why I love this soap***
I purchased this soap for the first time over 6 years ago. One bar of soap lasts me a whole year which is incredible!! It costs £12.50 so I worked out that it costs me 96p to use a month which is amazing, such great value for money.

Another great pro to this soap is that it is antibacterial and specifically formulated for blemished skin. Something so great about Clinique is that their leading dermatologists have realised that not everyone with blemished skin has oily skin. So it has been formulated for all skin types and it is non drying.

            ***The only con***
It does not remove makeup so you need a separate makeup cleanser.

***How the soap looks and its packaging***
I love opening my new bar of soap, it comes in a 'Clinique green' box and inside it has a soap container in blue with Clinique written on in silver. The soap is white in colour (even though the picture on Dooyoo shows it as green/blue, it changed to being white about 3 years ago).

The container looks very posh next to my sink which I love and it saves you the hassle of having to buy a container. Similarly when the soap was green/blue in colour it did not come with a container and it used to drive me nuts when people in the house used the soap as a hand soap!! I had to explicitly tell them it is my face soap!!!!! (However it can be used on the body too, but I tend to use it for the face only, I think if it is to be used on the body the best place to keep it is in the shower).

            ***Would I recommend this soap***
I certainly would because what is so great about Clinique is that they will give you a personal consultation to check what skincare is correct for you and if you buy it and have a reaction, they have to give you a full refund (which is very reassuring). This is because they have a rigorous testing scheme for all their products. They are tested 12 times on 600 people and if anyone of these people has a reaction the whole product is reformulated.
All I can say is if you have blemished skin and are at your wits end on what to do next for it, try it and buy it!!! It's £12.50 that you won't regret spending!!

not right for my skin when they said it would be.

Before you buy this 3-step product please read this!

I followed the online skin tester on the Clinique web-site, I told them I get breakouts occasionally, my skin is freckly during the summer period, my eyes are blue and I have dark brown hair - they recommended the 3-step anti-blemish method. I assumed because of the price and the Clinique prestige, this would be a fantastic saviour: I was wrong.

After using this method for 5 days my skin became really dry, I mean to the point where it looked scaly. I had to put a lot of the moisturiser on to cure the dryness. The clarifying lotion is what did it. Also, after using this for 2 weeks the whole 3-step system gave me an unprecedented amount of spots around my mouth and nose area.

So, would I recommend this system? Erm... the short answer is no. So words of advice; don't rely on the web-site's skin tester, go into a local store and talk with a Clinique specialists. This system might not be right for you and your skin type.

I've found giving your self a face steam over a bowl of boiling water helps with clearing your skin. Also, after the shower using cold water on your face to close pores, then applying moisturiser.

              Hope this advice helps.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Brillant product, that does help to get rid of your spots. Doesnt leave your skin feeling dry.

I was recommended this soap by a lady on the Clinique counter, along with a few other Clinique skin care products. I was having alot of out breaks of spots and really needed a solution to get rid of them, as at 24yrs of age you hope that your days of getting spots are behind you. So i was recommended to try the Anti Blemish range.

And for the big bar of soap i paid £10. Which seems like alot for soap, but 6 months down the line i havent even got through half of the soap. And that is using it twice daily - morning and night. It also really helped with my spots. It didnt get rid of them over night. But i did notice a difference in my skin after the first use and after a week of doing the 3 Steps Skin Care routine, my spots were less noticeable. Also, i was a little worried about using a soap on my face, as i was worried about it drying out my face. But it didnt do this at all. It left my skin feeling lovely and clean. Not dry in anyway.

I cant rate Clinique products highly enough. They are brilliant products, but they are also excellent value for money. And the ladies on the Clinique counters are always happy to help you in any way that you need them to and they will find you the best product to suit your skin type. You cannot go wrong with these products.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

I don't normally get spots, but when I do it really shows! I have quite pale skin and because I only really get one at a time it's like a blot on the landscape! If I had lots it would just blend in...oh well I shouldn't complain! I bought a bottle of Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clear Blemish Gel with a particular blemish in mind. I felt a spot coming on just above my lip-the worst kind-so I rushed out and bought this! This is priced at £9.50 for 15ml, it's not cheap! That works out as a whopping £63.33 per 100ml!! For that "bargain price", you get a tiny bluey-green bottle with the famous Clinique logo proudly stamped on the front. The bottle has a twist off cap and small nozzle. The product claims to reduce irritation and control sebum (oil). On the Clinique website it also says "Targeted exfoliation", non drying, oil free and it contains alcohol and witch hazel to provide a "refreshing sensation" (so thats stinging faces for us then Clinique??) I'm not sure I believe the exfolation one but lets rate the other claims! I squeezed a small dot onto my finger and put it on the offending area and gently rubbed it in. I must say, it did sting slightly bit to me-that normally means things are working! The product is a gel which is absorbed very easily-you only need a tiny amount to do the job. The bottle says apply once to the area daily and if no dryness occurs and if required, you can apply it 2 to 3 times a day. I was impressed with how easily it absorbed-it did seem to make the skin in the area feel slightly tighter and less oily. I don't actually have oily skin-I have quite dry skin but the spot seemed to "calm down" and redness was reduced. The next day the spot was practically gone-when I get a spot in that area it uses hangs around for day so I was pretty pleased! I have continued to use this product occasionally when needed. This would be great for using if a
spot appeared before a night out! It would reduce the redness very quickly and be easily covered with makeup! It is also fragrance free and has a bit of a medicated smell. Heres my scores for certain aspects of the product! : 1-5 (5=wow 1=poor) Reduction of redness: 4 Ease of use: 5 Miraculous dissapearing of annoying blemishes: 4 Ability to hide under makeup: 5 Washes the dishes: 1 Hmph - doesnt do my washing up?! *lowers leg to refrain from kicking boyfriend out onto the street* It does score pretty well though. I also should mention that despite the hefty price and tiny (seems like a sample-size!) size, a little definitely goes a long way! I have used mine about 10 times since I first bought it and you can hardly tell it has been used at all! If you have dry/combination skin like me I would recommend this product. It hasn't dried out my skin and has done the job-I also have sensitive skin so I am impressed that it hasn't irritated my skin. (Technically all skin is sensitive but as you know, some need special treatment!) On very dry skin or very oily skin I'm not sure how effective it would be. I think on very dry skin it may be too harsh-one application a day I expect would work. On very oily skin, perhaps you could combine it with other products from the Anti Blemish Clinique range: Anti-Blemish Solutions Night-Time Gel, 50ml, £13.50 Anti-Blemish Solutions Cleansing Foam 125ml, £ 13 Anti-Blemish Solutions Anti-Bacterial Facial Soap, 150g, £10 Touch-Stick, 15ml, £10 Anti-Blemish Solutions Concealing Cream, 15ml, £9.50 Anti Blemish Solutions Daytime Shield, 50ml, £13.50 Anti Blemish Solutions Back and Chest Spray, 100ml, £13 As you can see the range has pretty much everything you could possibly want to beat those spots! I would really recommend chcking Ebay for these products before shelling out full price-there is lots of Clinique on Ebay :o) I hope my op has be
en helpful-all comments welcome of course! Christina xx (ooh-ps-I paid a lot less than £9.50 for mine-I couldn't afford it otherwise!)

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

I use quite a few products from this range and believe me ... at the age of 35 and still suffering from oily skin, dilated pores, spots, acne flareups, blackheads ... I've tried a lot of "miracle solutions" in my time. Although none of these Anti Blemish lotions and potions will turn your skin porcelain-like overnight, they make good on their promises! Clear Blemish Gel is great on the odd spot, reduces redness and helps clear them up after a couple of days. It is a little sticky at first but dries quickly and disappears without a trace. I use it during the day and follow with SPF. Night Time Gel is best used at night not just because it says so on the packing but since it contains exfoliators can make your skin sensitive to the sun. I use it all over my face (every second night) and just below the jawline (where I break out the most) and my skin looks clearer in the morning. When my skin is at its worst (red and inflamed) I use it every night for a few days and it takes all the redness away and makes my skin soft. I really lke this. First time users : let it dry a little before you go to bed as it can be somewhat sticky to begin with. Cleansing Foam is my favourite. One of the few face washes for oily and troubled skin that does not feel like soap. It is really light and foamy and after rinsing there is no tight feeling, dryness or residue. My skin just feels cleansed and soft. I hate washes that strip my skin of all the oil and anything good along with it. I want to control my breakouts but not wreck my skin. This is different and truly excellent! All the above products have a slight medicinal fragrance but not in any way overpowering. Just a nice clean smell. I have not experienced dry patches or any kind of adverse reactions whilst using all of the above. The packing recommends that users do not combine too many of the Anti Blemish products in case of irritation so it's best to check out one
product at a time and use them alternatively to begin with.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

I have tried plenty of spot lotions, particularly ones with Tea Tree oil, to try to counteract the spots I'm still getting on an almost weekly basis (I'm 26 for christ's sake!). None seem to do any harm but also don't seem to make any difference, meaning the spot stays there and develops at its own pace! Anyway I was persuaded by those nice ladies at the Clinique counter to try their Anti-Blemish Solutions. Now before this I hadn't in fact ever tried Clinique products and would never normally pay so much for a beauty product - a whopping £9.50 sterling or ?15! However this time I had specifically gone in to buy 2 Clinique products because of a special offer they had on. On the bottle they tell you that this is a clear blemish gel which is allergy tested and 100% fragrance free. I can vouch for the fragrance bit as it has a non-offending clinical smell. You just apply it to the spots once daily, or more often if you do not experience any flakiness or dryness. I found that once daily was enough and, more importantly, that it seems to do the job! Whoo-oh. You only need a small amount of the solution at a time. You have to squeeze the bottle to get the solution to come out so that helps you not to use too much. I've been using the bottle for a couple of months now and I've barely made a dent into it! So basically the product works! And even though it feels pricey when you're shelling out for it, because it works and lasts for ages it is well worth the money.

Thankfully I don't suffer from spots too often.... but when that party is coming up you know that suddenly you are gonna have a little friend at the end of your nose or in between your eyebrows. HAving tried loads of direct-to-the-spot treatments, I found that most of them left that area of skin very dry, and the spot was still prominent. So now I have a red and flaky friend - nice! Then whilst in New York last year I came across Clinques Anti-blemish solutions night time gel. As I was paying half the price I would be in the UK, and I was on holiday, I decided to give it a go! What a great buy! The UK price is £13.50 - ouch! But it is truly worth every penny. You simply apply to the area prone to spots or the spot itself before bedtime, and when you wake up the spot is significantly reduced or completely gone and no dry flaky skin in sight! You only need a small amount of product so the tube lasts a long time, mine is over half full still from April! The gel is easy to apply and drys quickly, you may experience a slight tingling sensation, but that means it's working! It also has a slight clinical-antibacterial smell as with all anti blemish products, but it is not unpleasant.
