Looks lovely, a shame it was slightly drying

I got my bar of Adventures in Eden soap in a Bomb Cosmetics gift set. I was interested to try this out as it looks very pretty and jewel like. The soap is glycerine based and the yellow soap is studded with tiny layered chunks in reds, whites and greens, so visually it is very appealing. I actually think it would make a nice little gift on its own, perhaps tied with a raffia bow.

The official description of this soap, taken from the Bomb Cosmetics website, is: 'Oriental influences fused with a modern floral heart create this light and uplifting fragrance.' I was very surprised to read that the soap contains tea tree oil as tea tree is quite a strong scent, yet I hadn't picked up on that at all when using this. I actually felt that despite having a sharpness to it (which on reflection can perhaps be attributed to the tea tree oil), this soap had quite a floral scent to it - at least it did to me! I actually thought it smelled like rose and geranium, yet neither of those are mentioned in the product description, so maybe there's something wrong with my nose! The only ingredient that is mentioned (or at least the only ingredient I recognise) is the tea tree, yet I personally feel that the overall scent is feminine and floral.

The soap is quite solid feeling and when first used the edges and corners were quite straight, so it was a little uncomfortable to use. I have found that the soap has become softer over time and the edges rounder. That said, I should note that my bar hasn't worn down evenly - the small chunks inside have not worn down at the same rate as the outer yellow colour, so the soap is now looking a bit lumpy!

The scent of the soap is quite intense as I use this, but I find that it produces quite a thick lather quickly. My main gripe with the soap, is that like a lot of glycerine soaps, I find that when I wash this off, my skin feels quite tight and has a sort of 'squeaky clean' feeling to it. My husband who has also used this soap, said the same thing. Thankfully the tightness seems to go by the time I get dried off, yet I still feel that I have to apply a good moisturiser after use. As the scent is quite strong I do find that it stays on my skin for a while after use too.

A bar of this soap costs £2.49 and can be purchased from www.bombcosmetics.co.uk. I have also found that a lot of gift shops sell Bomb Cosmetics products and it's worth checking Amazon as you can sometimes get them there too.

Overall, I thought this soap was OK, however I would not use it again. The positive points were that the smell was nice and it lathered well. The only real negative (yet a negative big enough for me to outweigh the positives) was that it made my skin feel really tight and uncomfortable and I had to moisturise afterwards. Whilst I would be open to trying other Bomb Cosmetics soaps, I would not choose this one again in the future.
