“ Brand: Abahna / Type: Soap „
Review of Abahna Frangipani & Orange Blossom Soap I came across this range fairly recently and have now tried a couple of Abahna's Frangipani and Orange Blossom products. I was given this soap by my niece who was having a decluttering session prior to having her home redecorated. When she offered me this, she explained that she never uses bar soap these days as she prefers a liquid type of soap. Now, I am never one to be offended by hand me downs and although I wouldn't want a partially used bar of soap, I'm happy to say this was completely unused and still in the original wrapping! Please note:-my soap was presented in a different coloured box to the one depicted by Dooyoo. **The Soap** This soap bar was part of a gift set and it was presented in truly lovely packaging, a slide open box in a deep cerise/maroon shade embellished with gold accents. The box was almost too pretty to open, but open it I did, to reveal the creamy white oval bar of soap. The scent of this soap is a little unusual in my opinion, it is predominantly a floral scent, but far richer in depth than most florals. The initial scent is sweet; it reminds me of good quality honey. As the soap warms with your washing water, the scent alters and becomes a rich, warm, almost exotic fragrance. It is earthy and sensuous, but almost too earthy as I feel it has a slightly musty aroma. I have to admit that I do not think I would like this as an actual fragrance. As bar soaps go this is very good. The soap lathers well, is easy to rinse off and it leaves my skin feeling cleansed and lightly scented. The fragrance does not last particularly long which suits me as I am not overly fond of it! The soap does not dry my skin out and after use my hands in particular feel quite well hydrated. I tend to use bar soap mainly for hand washing as I prefer to use shower gels for my daily shower. This soap is produced in Belgium by artisan soap makers and according to the information on the packaging it is a triple milled soap, made from organic natural ingredients and pure essential oils, organic wild flower honey and shea butter, blended with natural coconut-based cleansers. **My Thoughts and Conclusion** I afraid I am not particularly impressed with the fragrance of Abahna's Frangipani & Orange Blossom soap, it is not one I would go out of my way to obtain again, but of course this is my personal perception of the scent. The soap does everything one expects a luxury bar of soap to do; it cleanses, moisturises and scents your skin, at a price. As mentioned I did not buy this product for myself and having taken a look on the internet for an indication of price and availability to add to my review, I am horrified to find that this 170g bar is currently priced at £9.00 on Amazon. The soap is very nice, it is reasonably long lasting as it is a fairly hard soap, it is well scented, but is it worth £9? In my view, no! To conclude, this soap is good quality, attractively packaged and would make a lovely gift. It is however rather expensive, and I feel this knocks the star rating down, therefore I am awarding Abahna Frangipani & Orange Blossom Soap a 3* rating. Thank you for reading. ©brittle1906 April 2013 **UPDATE** I spotted this range in my local branch of TKMaxx recently so it may be worth checking them out! N.B.
