“ Brand: Walkers / Type: Crisps „
These crisps are another special edition flavour from Walkers and after reading a couple of favourable reviews I thought I would give them a try even though when I sw the price of 60p I almost had second thoughts. The crisps themselves are cheese burger flavour and they are a thicker ridged type of crips which remind me of McCoys in the way they look and how crunchy they are. They are an orangey golden colour and uniformly cut in size. They taste pretty nice on the whole, you can certainly detect a tangy tomato flavour to them and also a bit of a meaty taste as well, I did not get a really strong cheese flavour from the crisps at all but then I guess that would be hard to achieve in a single crisp. The crisps are a little greasy to the touch and they left quite a bit of the flavouring on my fingers which was not really very pleasant and you certainly have to be careful to make sure you do not get any grease on your clothes when eating these. The one downside I did find with these crisps is the fact that they left a rather bad after taste which sort of hit me after a couple of minutes of eating these crisps and burger breath is hardly the nicest thing to have at the best of times so in my opinion while they are not bad they do have a downside. It was not an unpleasant flavour, perfectly acceptable within limitations. certainly I did not find them very addictive or moorish, they are nice enough for a change but not something I would buy on a regular basis.
I'm a bit of a junk food fanatic, I know fine well its not the best so why I keep asking myself do I keep purchasing a MacDonalds Cheeseburger with fries. I'm not a big fan of gherkin so I always remove that first Well the answer is pretty simple really I like them, they're tasty fill a small hole and they aren't too expensive. I have however found a cheaper alternative, which tastes similar well it is advertised to taste like a cheesburger being that the product is of course Walkers MAX Cheeseburger. The packet costs in the region of 60p and contains a lot more crisps than your standard 50g pack. The crisps themselves are both crispy and ridged and pretty much uniform in shape and size. They are a light golden colour with some seriously darker shades, which are almost orange. It's the smell however that's gets the old juices going, it kicks of all the senses and the anticipation creeps in. Every crisp tastes a bit different so I reckon there are actually a few different flavours in this packet which when combined create the full cheesburger taste. The first crisp I tasted was very similar to tomato ketchup flavour whilst the next was definitely cheese and some kind of meat. The third distinctive flavour I got was that of the gherkin, not too strong just a hint, the same strength as I get on my MacDonalds once I removed the gherkin. So one there own they are pretty nice crisps, but take two or three at once and the combinations that are created give the impression that you actually are having a rather crispy cheeseburger. They aren't warm or hot obviously but they are quite nice. The gherkin bit is not quite to my liking but it is something I'm used to whilst having my normal burger, so it does add that hint of realism. I think these crisps are great value and I do belive a lot of kids out there are going to like these, and most probably quite a few grown ups. I thought at my age I was passed by being surprised by crisps and other eateries, but I found myself amused at the thought of a cheeseburger crisp and found myself pleasantly surprised at how close Walkers have got to creating some authenticity. A must try crisp for any burger fan.
I had a bag of these Cheeseburger crisps last night and was suprised at how much like cheeseburgers they tasted! They are ridged crisps like McCoys but I've only recently tried these Walkers Max crisps and I prefer the thinner texture of them to McCoys because for a bag of crisps McCoys are madly filling like a meal!!! These don't actually taste meaty and I was suprised about that but they've done something to the cheese flavouring to remind you of cheeseburgers. You can sort of taste the different flavours that comes with a cheeseburger instead of actually tasting the cheeseburger but I thought that was yummy and loads better than the greasy crisps I'd been expecting. The flavour is stronger along the ridges so always worth taking your time to suck the flavouring off and then enjoy the fresh tasting crisp after. The crisps themselves under the flavouring are proper nice, the taste of the potato is quite strong and they are lovely and crispy. Because they're thinner than McCoys they feel loads lighter to eat and I thought they were mega tasty. There's about 250 calories in a bag but for that I felt like I'd had loads because there are more crisps in the bag than normal Walkers crisps and the taste of them is strong so it satisfied my tastebuds for longer.
I adore walkers Max Paprika crisps and of late have gone through bag after bag of the things. However today I fancied a change from my now norm and picked up a bag of Red Skye crisps. Not feeling very at ease with this option when I spotted this flavour I was delighted and so fancied them on sight! At 54p a bag they're a little more than most other brands of crisps in my local Nisa store but I love the quality of this, Walkers Max brand and they you do get a bigger size than most standard bags! The Packaging: 47g bright yellow on the front and white on the back foil bag. On the front there is a photograph of a crisp and a potato and in large white and black letters I'm told they are 'New' Walkers Max Deep Ridged Taste Cheese Burger Flavour Potato Crisps , the size is stated (as I've listed already) and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there. On the back of the bag other information includes being told a bit about potatoes (lol), there is a full nutritional chart given on there, ingredients and dietary information is given, I'm told how to store the crisps, the best before date is stamped on and contact details for Walkers are listed. It's a nice bright no nonsense bag and it's informative but I'm surprised there is no allergy advice given on here. The Crisps: Wow! Yummy! I was sort of expecting them to taste like a meaty crisp and that was it but was a pleasant surprise I got! I loved these, and I mean loved them! Upon opening the bag I got a smell of like a Burger King Whopper burger. Beefy, tomatoey and even smelt a slight hint of gherkin it was really an impressive smell and I was drooling even before I picked a crisp up lol! On appearance the crisps are large, slightly curved to the middle, golden in colour with deep ridges all over them. They have a deep crunch and although these are really heavily flavoured you can really taste potatoes which I appreciate. Flavour-wise...well what can I say? These are truly sensational. I could taste a cheese burger and my brain got well and truely fooled. In fact it was like eating a good quality cheese burger and chewing chips all at the same time. Nicely seasoned, not one bit sugary these were bizarre! They are suitable for Vegetarians though I got the taste of a brilliant quality cheeseburger, cheese slice, onion, tomato sauce, gherkin and bread all in a crisp. I can't believe I'm writing this! Everything was included in the taste of this cheeseburger crisp, even the hint of mustard. Just divine! Not only is the flavour amazing, the crisps are tasty too and not one bit greasy and today I fell in love. Just gorgeous crisps...you must try them! Wow! Nutritional Information Per 47g: Calories: 246 Sugar: 0.8g Fat: 15.4g Saturates: 2.0g Salt: 0.66g Dietry Information: No Msg No preservatives No artificial colours Suitable for Vegetarians Available in all good supermarkets, independent shops etc and these are the only size I'm aware that they're able to be purchased in at the moment.
I must admit when I first walked into my local Costcutters across the road I was not expecting when I went to pay for my purchases that there would be a stand that was selling Cheeseburger Flavoured Crisps and my first notion was that Walkers had gone truly mad and that they had come up with this new flavour of crisp as some kind of joke. But not put off by my initial fears about these crisps and their strange flavour I thought to myself right I will give them a try anyways and they may just prove me wrong or so I was hoping. As I got home and in my room and took the first bite there was a taste of similarity like when you order a Cheeseburger from McDonalds but then also for most people that hint of gerkin that you turn your nose up at but I did finish the bag of crisps and thought nothing more of it. The next time I went into the shop there were the Cheeseburger Crisps staring at me saying "Buy Me Buy Me" and even though my first experience was not a great one I thought okay I am willing to give you another try and see if I can get used to the taste. To my amazement this time I actually found myself enjoying the crisps much better this time around and took the time to savour the flavour a bit more and I found that I was getting used to these crisps and now with every bag I purchase I enjoy them even more and it takes me back especially to my childhood when I used to go for either my own party or one of my friends party`s and we used to always love to go to McDonalds and for me the Cheeseburger was the best part. I would love to go to the place where they make up the different flavours and then I would ask if I could make my own flavour up there are so many that have not been tried yet but if this sounds appealing to you then you have to give these crisps a try even out of curiousity.
