      If you like Mini Cheddars, these are worth a try.

      When I first discovered Mini Cheddars Crinklys I was in heaven. They are a moreish twist on the old classic Mini Cheddars with a crisper texture and a really intense flavour. But then suddenly I couldn't buy them anywhere. Next time I found them, they seemed to be carrying a Jacobs not Mcvities branding. I then came across a Financial Times article that said Mcvities were rebranding most of their savoury snacks under their Jacobs label. So at least my beloved Crinklys haven't disappeared, they just have new packaging.

      The Crinklys are cheese biscuits with different extra flavourings, such as bbq or salt and vinegar. I find the little 25g bags a great snack because the flavours are strong and satisfy a savoury craving. They aren't that filling admittedly, but sometimes it's nice to have a light snack that won't spoil your appetite for something healthier later. The cheese tends to take a back seat to the other flavours, but it is there. The salt and vinegar is my tangy favourite although I couldn't eat more than one bag as they make me a little thirsty. The bbq ones have a delicious smokiness that means they come a close second.

      The texture is really what makes these stand out from classic Cheddars. They are thinner, crispier and of course have a crinkled, ridged surface. I love how crunchy they are as a result and the fact they aren't too crumbly and brittle. Being baked not fried means no greasy feel either. They are bitesize so more of a biscuit to eat as is rather than top but they have a lot of flavour all of their own.

      You can buy these in individual bags in places like newsagents for around 50-60p but the multi packs are easier to get hold of and better value. The six pack are usually in the Poundshop, otherwise you will pay about 1.75 in the supermarkets, on the rare occasion they aren't on offer. I think some varieties are only available to buy in a variety pack anyway. I definitely recommend these to Mini Cheddars fans, providing you like the favoured varieties as the Crinklys are a more intense and crunchier version of those. A little bag has 6.9g fat in and 129 calories which could add up if you find these as moreish as I do so restraint is in order!

      Great snack to be enjoyed every once in a while

      Now this review is purely for the Cheese and Onion variety as I haven't tried the other flavours shown in the product picture above. After having a packet of these with my lunch today I thought I'd tell you what I thought.

      Normal Mini Chedders are not my first choice when choosing crisps / snacks. I found the original's to be a bit bulky and quite stodgy. When this new range of baked Crinklys became available I thought I'd give them a try and I have never looked back! These really are delicious.

      As this range is baked not fried, they are healthier than the original range and contain less calories. A 50g bag of cheese and onion Crinkleys contains 253 calories. Even though they largly advertise the fact that they are baked and therefore better for you than the original's, these still contain a huge 13.5g in saturated fat (not the good kind!).

      They have a light and crispy texture and have plenty of flavour on them. Even though the packet is taller when bought seperatly than in the multipack, it does only come half full which I have always found but then again this applied to most other brands also.

      These crisps are very morish and if you like them you'll no doubt be buying them again in the not to distant future, just watch the intake due to the saturated fat.

      They come in BBQ, Salt and vinegar and ready salted.

      The packaging lists the ingredients and also allergy advise. It also lists a website to find out how exercise and a balanced diet can help a healthy lifestyle - www.123healthybalance.com. The packaging also boasts that there are no artificial colours of flavours.

      Overall very tasty snack just be aware of the calories and saturated fat!

      A unusual version of mini cheddars

      I'm partial to a bag of mini cheddars now and then, or maybe a whole tube at Christmas so when I seen Mini Cheddars Crinklys on offer in Iceland for just £1 a multibag in fact, 10 for the price of 7 I just had to buy them and give them a try.

      Mini Cheddars multibags come in the same pale orange as cheddars doing but each different flavour has a different colour to represent it. The multibag I purchaed contains Cheese and Onion, Salt and Vinegar and Prawn Cocktail. No Aritificial colours and No Artificial Flavours it says on the multibag as well as light and crispy texture. The bags of crinklys within are snacksized bags really.

      No matter what flavour you have the mini cheddars all the same shape and style, all being circular like the original mini cheddars but alot thinner and of course crinkled, but only slightly.

      Salt and Vinegar come in the bright blue bags, they are quite crisp and crunchy and as the multibag suggests, light to eat but the flavour is very intense. A wincing eyes vinegary tang with the subtleness of the salt. A very strong salt and vinegar flavour not for the fainthearted. I have only ever had the odd bag that's been bland and boring with a very light salt and vinegar flavour.

      One bag of these contains;
      125 calories
      6.7g fat
      2.2g saturates

      Prawn Cocktail come in the hot pink coloured bags. The shape, style and texture remains the same of course. The intensity doesn't stop at the S&V flavour either. These are just as powerful and strong this time tangy yet sweet, fishy and exactly how you'd expect prawn cocktail to taste from a snack like this yet very strong.

      One bag of these contains;
      126 calories
      6.7g fat
      2.2g saturates

      Yes you've read right these do contain an extra calorie for whatever reason?

      The cheese and onion come in the lime green bags with the same shaped and styled crinklys within. These are smellier than the other two flavours which is to be expected from cheese and onion. They again have a very strong flavour, they taste more like spring onion and cheese to me, they have that sourness from the onions and an equally strong cheesy taste. These are my least favourite flavour in the bag but then cheese and onion has never been a favourite of mine.

      One bag of these contains;
      126 calories
      6.7g fat
      2.2g saturates

      I'd recommend these to anybody who enjoys mini cheddars, although these are alot stronger flavourwise, thinner and of course, Crinkly!
