I don't normally like white chocolate, but this was sent to me by a friend from Texas and she said it was good, so thought hey why not give it a try? I fell in love with this bar. It is Hersheys white chocolate, and it is filled with little bits of oreo cookie all the way through! I love oreo anyways, so this made it even more amazing. The chocolate is very thick, and very creamy, and tastes so much better than other white chocolate I have tried, whilst the oreo cookie pieces gives the chocolate a different type of texture and a really nice crunch with each and every bite. The packaging is a shiny foil type packaging, which is mostly white, with a silver stripe through the centre and a picture of some cookies on the front. The cookies are landing in some milk. The Hersheys symbol is also on the front, and the nutrional information is on the back. There is also some small amounts of information on Hersheys themselves and on the bar itself. Since the closure of Woolworths, I have not been able to find this bar anywhere in the UK, so I can only have it sent to me from my friend in Texas, thanlfully she can get hold of it! This bar is high in fat and calories, so do not try and indulge in its goodness too often, but I do recommend this as a treat, if you can find a bar of it near you.
Ok so after just polishing off a bar of this I thought I'd tell you my thoughts on this product! Having first tried Hershey's in Florida as a kid I found it a nice alternative to our 'Cabury's'. I am not a huge chocolate fan and find Cadbury's to be a bit sweet for me sometimes and can't eat much of it whereas Hershey's in my opinion is a bit more cocoa like. So today I spotted this Cookies and Creme version on the sandwich van that comes round to our work. At 75p I was shocked at the price as it's only a 40g bar, but when you consider these are made and imported from Brazil it's not too bad! Opening the bar, it is a very white chocolate unlike our 'Milky Bar' that has a yellow colour to it, this is more a milk colour. On the underside you can see the chunks of Cookie which are dark brown in colour and generously spread all over the bar. The taste is very nice, sweet white chocolate with the nice cookie crunch which compliment each other very well. Finishing the bar will make you want more! On the packaging it gives you the best before date and also the manufacturing date which we don't get as much here in the UK. It also lists all the ingredients in 4 different languages. It has approx 250 calories per bar so not really a light bite for the waistline! I'd recommend this to try, a bit different to chocolate in the UK but I think this makes a nice change!
Now a lot of you wont really be familiar with Hersheys chocolate because they are a company which tend to distribute their chocolate in America and other European countries. I first came across them when in America and quite liked it, it is like our version of Cadburys still not as good as but they have different ideas. The next time I saw the chocolate was in Selfridges at their food court as they sell imported chocolates and I came across these Cookiesncrème bars which I grew to love. I saw them sold at my local corner shop for a while but then they stopped selling them so I didnt know where to buy them. Hersheys is the largest North American manufacturer of chocolate and non-chocolate goods. Milton S. Hershey was the founder starting off as a small part of Milton Hersheys Lancaster Caramel Company. Using chocolate making equipment purchased in 1893 the company produced baking chocolate, cocoa and sweet chocolate coatings for the larger companys caramels. Nowadays they export products to over ninety countries worldwide. So one thing I like about these CookiesnCrème bars is the packaging. They are in a silver foil wrapper which really stands out. On the front they have a white strip across it with the big Hershey lettering with a gold outer shadow and a picture of a cookie broken off and two squares of the bar in a pool of melted white chocolate. It is a 40g bar but I feel it is quite big and you get a lot in it. The only information on the packaging about allergies is that it might contain nut traces other than it is suitable for everyone well unless you hate white chocolate as I know its not the most popular. The good thing is that Hershey does a similar bar like this CookiesnCrème one except its called CookiesnChocolate so its the exact same idea but comes in a brown wrapper and is made with milk chocolate, it tastes just as good. The chocolate itself as you peel back the wrapping you see the chocolate and it is all white but on the back you see it is filled with lots of dark cookie pieces and they dont hold back in how much they put in making the chocolate good value for money especially if you love cookies as much as I do. Turning the bar over it is one big rectangle but divided into horizontal rows of three rectangles so you can still break it off piece by piece. I sometimes find this bar too sickening so eat half and leave half for later. As soon as you open the wrapper the very sweet chocolatey smell rises up and makes you want to eat it. On each rectangular piece the Hersheys lettering is imprinted so that you cant mistake what chocolate youre eating. The chocolate is quite creamy and the cookie taste really comes out strong amidst the white chocolate taste. The chocolate to me tastes exactly like a Milky Bar but if it was to have dark cookie pieces in it. It is a very thin chocolate compared to Cadburys which are big chunks really. I have tasted a lot of chocolate bars which state that they are CookiesnCrème but in fact taste nothing like the flavouring. However, Hersheys I will definitely give the thumbs up on because even after eating the chocolate you can still taste that creamy milky taste in your mouth so that you really grasp the taste of the product. The cookie taste is not overpowered by the milk chocolate either as they have given a very generous amount of cookie pieces to the bar so that they get just the right balance of flavouring making their bar a success. Now where to buy these bars, I was actually surprised and found these accidentally. I was in my local Makro which is a bulk buy store sort of like Costco but slightly different, although you have to have a card to gain access which you get through your work. I was walking down the aisles of big tubs of sweets and big boxes of 50 bars of Mars Delight etc, its so cruel and tempting. I then stopped and saw the Hersheys lettering in bold white text. I stopped and saw that they had the CookiesnCrème bars and CookiesnChocolate bars but I had to make the hardest decision of my life in choosing which to opt for. I chose CookiesnCrème over it but for 24 bars it came to £8.50 with VAT included but that is including import charges Im sure as well as my batch were in fact shipped all the way from Brazil. At first 24 bars sounds like nothing but Ive had mine for weeks and still havent finished as they are very sickeningly sweet so its not something you over indulge in. If you dont get these bars in these superstores like I said try the Harvey Nichols or Selfridges food courts as they do sell these bars separately at about 50 odd pence a bar which isnt too bad. Or I have researched some online retailers for you who cant even access those stores. http://www.mrsomalleys.co.uk/ sells each bar for 59 p or does an offer if you buy 5 http://www.cybercandy.co.uk/aaasmt/index.php sells a bar for 94p or a bag of nuggets which are little blocks with the same flavouring but in a different style for £4.70 or the kisses which are famous in little drop shapes for £3.15. I have ordered from this site before and they do deliver promptly but postage is very pricey at £3.99 and the sell by dates are always a bit too short for my liking but if you want to eat quickly then go ahead. OR last but certainly not least http://www.americansoda.co.uk Again I have ordered with this website before their shipping is the lowest and they charge 79p a bar and sell CookiesnChocolate. Buying one bar would make your postage 80p which is really good. So if you havent tried it give it a try or even look at some of the other international treats on these websites, its quite fun.
