I have had this phone for a very long time, The look of the phone the reviews of the Build quality certainly drew me in. I love this phone even today i do! It does me great I have my social apps such as Facebook Kik and whatsapp along with the simple GPS Apps for getting around. Handles calls brilliantly texting is good on here. The screen is nice and bright and the colours in my opinion are strong. Playing some games on this phone can respond laggy but thats the only down side but not all is laggy but overall its a great phone with great build quality ive had this phone for a good 8 months and to this day it still serves me well.
Im going to go down a star just for one reason, The lag on Higher demanding apps or games but overall a good phone dont let it put you off buying the phone its a brilliant phone overall.
I obtained this handset in June 2011, and it has proved to be a trustworthy phone.
SHAPE AND DESIGN
The screen is 4" and combined with Samsung's AMO-LED technolohy, makes for vivid colour and a very bright backlight helps push this further.
The phone is quite large, but in todays market, screen sizes are becoming increasingly larger. One good example of this is the iPhone 5, which Apple was forced to provide a larger screen to compete with it's major rivals.
The camera is 5MP, and the UI is very easy to use. Can be launched from a physical button or from the lock screen. Video offers HD resolutions.
Photographs taken with the camera can be easily uploaded to both SkyDrive or Facebook at the touch of a button.
WINDOWS PHONE 7
A major push forward by Microsoft has proved to be a big step towards competition with Apple and Google. Very user friendly and reliable software. Facebook integration is included by default.
Simply signing into Facebook adds all your contacts to the phone's contact list, under the 'People' application. This displays user profile pictures and status updates.
Facebook chat is also integrated into the 'Messages' application, allowing you to switch between Text and FB messaging at the touch of a button.
XBOX LIVE GAMES
Games are handled by the 'XBOX Live Games' application. From here, best selling games, such as Angry Birds and Need for Speed can be downloaded. Xbox Live gamerscore and an animated avatar can also be seen in this app.
SkyDrive can be downloaded free from the Marketplace, and from here, editing of documents is possible from the integrated mobile version of Microsoft Office, which offers Word, Excel and OneNote. Documents can be saved to SkyDrive and synchronisation happens in real time.
Windows Phone Marketplace is obtaining new, popular apps every day, with programmers supporting the rise of Windows Phone. This does not offer as much variety as Apple's App Store or Google Play, but will soon become a force.
A good buy for the consumer.
This was the first ever smartphone that I bought. I bought it on a contract, meaning that I have had it for over a year and a half now. It's a very good phone.
I like the fact that it is a Windows Phone. Due to the fact I am a student I have used Microsoft word several times, but I mostly use it for Microsoft powerpoint. I have found it useful to view teachers powerpoints on my phone when I am away from a computer.
The camera is one of my favourite parts of the phone. I didn't use cameras or take pictures before but after having this phone I have gone photo mad! The camera is excellent quality and I find myself snapping pictures of things at every moment.
The apps and colour of the touch screen can be changed to several colours. However I feel like their should be an option to download more colours as they are very limited and many of them don't look good on the phone.
However the apps on this phone aren't very good. They are nothing and insignificant compared to something such as the iPhone and most of them cost 59p and more. The ones that they do have for free aren't very good.
Another thing that I have found is that it is hard to type. I haven't got used to the touch keypad even though I've had it for a year and a half. I can see some people becoming annoyed by this.
However, overall it's been a good phone and I have enjoyed having it for the past year and a half. I would recommend it, although I imagine that there are better phones on the market.
I really do mean this. I am a huge fan of Samsung products. I like their quality, features and value for money, and this reflects in this phone. I love the design of this phone. Its classy, sophisticated, practical and eye catching. It has some really nice touch here and there that make a big difference, like the sliding door covering the micro USB port from dust and dirt - just so much better than a flap. I like the quality of the device, aluminum housing at the back, and glass at the front. Its a very well made phone, feels like it was carved when you pick it up. I like Samsungs loyalty when it come to their phones, a vast majority of thier products are made in it home country - South Korea, this phone is no exception and this must add up to its great quality. Other than that it has the groundbreaking Windows Phone 7 which has recently been updated to Mango - much nicer to use. So much to talk about the software on this phone it would take me forever. Other than that it hasa very good call quality, voices on each end sound clear and crisp, sound quality while playing music is equally good with good bass and clarity. I am very happy with this phone. I highly recomend anyone who's interested in it just go for it ! You will not be disappointed.
Some girls have a shoe problem, others, handbags. Now I have a phone problem. I simply can't go 6 months without getting tired of my mobile phone. I have had them all and now, the successor of my iPhone is the Samsung Omnia 7 and so far so good...
What strikes me the most is the UI. The bright colours of the screen and the easy to use panel system is perfect and I fully believe that Windows has triumphed with this phone, as I assume it has with the Nokia N8 which appears to be the same phone.
The battery life is great for me. I'm not on my phone 24/7 but if I charge it and use it normally I can get about 3 - 4 days out of it.
The only thing that could be missing from this phone is the applications. Because it's a product of windows it has the 'Marketplace' which sadly doesn't quite match up to the iphone. However, it does have Zune which is the iTunes competitor and offers exactly the same products so no loss there!
It's a great size phone, and the metal casing makes it feel more expensive than some of the cheaper plastic coated alternatives out there.
Again the camera can't be faulted. 5 mp which is better than many smartphones out there as well as video recording, it's a really great way to capture some lovely pictures.
Overall, it offers everything you want from an iPhone or other leading smartphone but I think it's better. Better designed, better to look at and better to use.
I must admit, my reasons for buying a Windows Phone were based entirely on the interface. But for most people buying a smartphone, the interface is everything. And with a Windows Phone, you definitely get what you pay for. The interface, as the feature to draw customers in, is, in a word, fantastic. All the features of the phone work together to provide valuable information easily and quickly.
The hubs on the phone are an easy way to display grouped information at a glance. For example, the People hub will basically display any information from "people". It groups together information from Twitter, Facebook, Windows Live and other such online services. The 7.5 update only makes this integration stronger. This is the sort of simple ease of access that, implemented throughout the entire OS makes the phone easier to use, and makes you spend less time going through menus to get to your information.
Contacts are tied in to the various services (FB, WL etc) and available throughout the phone. Selecting messaging, will take you to your messages, as expected, but swiping the screen across will display online contacts across various services, for easy online chat. This is the sort of experience you can expect throughout the Windows Phone service.
But enough about the OS, that's pretty much the same on any Windows Phone, it's the actual device that really shines. The camera is capable of recording 720p HD video, and taking 5MP pictures, with autofocus and maximum image resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels.
The screen is large for its time, and has a SuperOLED screen, with brilliant colour reproduction and viewing angles. The resolution is standard across WP devices, 800x480, but this display really makes that resolution shine.
The usual array of MicroUSB (for charging and computer connection, either Mac or PC with sync software available for both), 3.5mm headphone jack, volume up/down rocker, standby/off button and camera button are available, with the camera button able to wake the hone from sleep mode, for shooting on the go. The three hardware buttons on the Omnia 7 are default across WP devices, a home or Windows button, a back button, and a search button. Only the home button is an actual hard button on this phone, whereas the other two are touch buttons, which is my only niggle with this phone, for example, searching without unlocking the phone would be a nice addition.
Transform your mobile reality with the exciting Samsung Omnia 7. The whole user experience has been taken to a new level with a brilliant 4.0" Super AMOLED screen, amazing Xbox Live mobile applications, and the Zune hub for music and videos, and eBook hub for the latest news, books and magazines. Add to this, quick and easy photo sharing and advanced camera facilities, and there are no limits to how much fun that can be had.
