Not strictly in Brighton but if you are in the area and like opera or clasical music it's worth a look. It has a range of performances running at various times throughout the year and information is available on their website (www.glyndebourne.com). You will need to book for most performances as they tend to sell out 6 - 8 weeks beforehand. The stage is set so that it is easily visible and you feel close to the action. Additional benefit is the inclusion of a subtitle screen set just above the stage and a flick of the eyes upwards enables you to figure out what is happening. Not needed if you are fluent in Italian or whatever language the performance is in, but a good addition for others who are linguistically impaired. Advantages - great for a cultural night out (but beware some performances are for evening dress so worth asking first before booking) Disadvantages - bar can get a bit crowded in the interval if you haven't pre-booked your drinks.
