love these shoes but need to get a lot more wear out of something i spend a lot of money on

i bought a pair or rieker boots 4 months ago. they were great for the first 3 months, unfortunately the upper part decided to split from the sole last week. i am really shocked and disappointed because they are beautiful boots (and i am very fussy about my shoes) and because i believed rieker shoes to be a high quality choice of footwear. i brought them to a cobbler to see if anything could be done and he pulled back the sole to show me that there was nothing but a thin layer of worn material between my foot and the sole of the shoe. i really was shocked at the poor quality. i have tried to find an email address to make a complaint to the manufacturer but cannot. i am curious to see if anyone has had similar problems with these shoes or did i (hopefully) just get a bad, one off, pair?

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I bought a pair of Reiker anti-stress shoes (I think the style was "Doris") a couple of months ago for work, and while they are comfortable enough they have destroyed all my work trousers as the velcro is always catching on the hems. The strap is not large enough to completely cover the velcro and I keep having to tear the trousers away from the velcro. Very disppointing for expensive enough shoes.

      Fantastic shoes, love them!

I must admit since childhood I had Rieker brand stuck in my mind as maker of "those unappealing orthopedic shoes" for nurses etc. However couple years ago I came across their range of "normally wearable" shoes and fell in love instantly. Rieker is a reputable shoe brand, as they are manufacturing "healthy footwear" since 1874. I believe the "Antistress" innovation has only appeared in this century, however it works a treat. As Rieker advertises (you have to look out for advertising, they don't seem to need to spend much on it) their Antistress shoes are lighter, flexible, shock absorbing, roomier, have four different types of soles (OPU - Soles (Polyurethane), ORubber Soles, OMulticolour Soles and OThermoplastic Rubber (Moulded)) and are manufactured in Rieker-specific way - apparently a single shoe can be made of 50 different pieces! Obviously I can't review manufacturing process or types of soles, but the rest is absolutely true - Rieker are the most comfortable and flexible shoes I have ever worn - I have had several pairs over the years and have been happy with every single one of them, covering casual trainer-type shoes, sandals, formal and leisure ones. They are all comfortable-type shoes, so no high heel stilettos nor wedges. They are generally made of very soft leather and are soft inside, too. They also passed heavy weight maternity-wear test during my pregnancy with highest grades. They are quite easy to care for with good quality leather care products and can be long lasting if taken care for. Two-three years is a minimum you will get out of them if worn regularly. I also find designs quite simple, suitable for everyday wear, but not extremely fashionable (hence you will still be ok to wear them next season). Price-wise I would say definitely good value for money. Riekers are not cheap, but they are quality leather shoes - for that prices ranging from approx. £40 to £120 (depending on type of shoe) I think is not much. Highly recommended!

They start off very comfortable, but when the insole becomes thin they are unbearable..

When I first bought my Rieker Anti-Stress shoes I thought I was in heaven. They were very wide fitting (great for my feet) and comfortable to walk in with no initial wearing in problems. Now that they are six months old I am having real problems with them. After walking for a short distance the underneath of my foot near the heal becomes very painful. I decided to look under the insole and found that the rubber sole is like a grid, this has left an indent in the sole of both feet. I cured this by buying partial length cushioned inserts. The pain now affects the front of my feet. Again I have investigated the problem only to find that there is a raised 'nipple' caused when the sole of the shoe was in the mold during it's manufacture. As I am on my feet a lot during the day I had hoped that I had found the perfect shoe. What a shame that this isn't the case.

if you like comfort they are the shoe shop for you

Reikers anti stress are a company who have been manufacturing shoes for over 130 years, they specially design there shoes to make them as comfortable as possible and as kind as possible to your feet. All of there shoes are made from light weight materials which i thought would mean they were poor quality but the quality is excelent. They fit corectly all around my foot which is unusual for me and they didnt give me any blisters when new. The material is very soft and flexible meaning that this gives me added comfort and they will wear well. you can choose the sole of your shoes from 3 choices depending on what you are purchasing the shoe for and how much you need it to protect your foot, as well as this all of there shoes have shock absorbent soles which means that the walking pressure is distrabuted evenly around your foot not centered in any one place so they are comfy to wear. There shoes are not cheap but do wear extremely well, they begin at around £40 my only dislike of this shoe store is that a lot of there designs are aimed at the more mature woman and there is very little in my age range but i suppose that is to be expected as it is impossible to make stilletto heeled shoes comfy but i do find that the mules i got from there for work are excelent quality and realy comfy to wear which is exactly what i want when i have to be on my feet for 8 hours.

Sensible shoes for sensible people but without the square reputation

Rieker Antistress have been making shoes for over 130 year so by now you'd think they would know what they were doing. They do! Rieker opened the first factory in Germany in1874 and after his death his sons Ernst, Heinrich Jnr and Karl took over the company. The company quickly grew and despite exponential growth it still remains under family control. Markus Rieker thas been in control since 1975 and the company has moved strength to strength. The company remain constant in producing high quality shoes which are good for the sole - sorry, couldn't resist. We've suddenly got a store in the Meadowhall Shopping centre. This particular store is wider than it is deep and stocks only Riekers products. Despite being an old company Riekers still produce some great modern shoes suited for most ages. There are the odd pair more suited to pensioners rather than party pants but that's a good thing. The store has plenty of seats and mirrors to further aid good fit with time and comfort and helping you with staff members to make an informed purchase. Most shoes cost around £45+. I found some lovely summery shoes I liked at £45 but I don't need them so desperately to indulge. Perhaps if they go into a sale I'll invest, antistress shoes have got to be a good thing. Rieker Antistress shoes are lighter than average, have a snug fit at the heel to restrict slipping and decrease movement inside the shoe, the shoes are especially flexible to maintain movement of the foot, flexible stitching to maintain movement and thermoplastic soles. The price can be high but the suitability is worth it.
