“ Brand: Kurt Geiger / Type: Wedge Shoes „
Apart from my new gorgeous flip flops and sandals I had bought from my holiday I still wanted a pair of shoes which were heeled but casual. Something I could wear in the day (if need be) without looking over the top and then something on the evening just to give myself a bit of height! Even though I do have a rather large shoe collection I do try and buy shoes I can wear more than once, something that is versatile and will last me for quite sometime.
When looking for my flip flops and sandals on the Kurt Geiger website I had a look at the shoes to see whether there was anything suitable. As I said I wanted something casual but still suitable for an evening out. As you can imagine there are plenty of shoes which fit the bill on the website but a pair I really liked come in a variety of colours and are called Cairo. They are under the Miss KG label which provides slightly cheaper shoes for Kurt Geiger.
What Miss KG say:
"Cairo by Miss KG is a super high wedge platform adding stature without compromising on comfort. Available in an array of gorgeous colours; some with contrasting platforms, you will be spoilt for choice this season. Team with a tailored jacket and skinny jeans so all eyes are on these!"
Cairo come in black, metallic, and pink and the textures are different depending on which colour you choose. I opted for the metallic which are in fact more of a grey colour with a contrasting platform/ wedge. The grey version feature a snakeskin patterned platform/ wedge which is in tones of greys and blacks which is slightly unusual. I opted for the grey as I preferred the contrasting platform as it was a bit different to other shoes I had seen.
The heel height is around 11cm which I think is quite a reasonable heel height but as you have the wedge and the platform they don't seem quite as high as 11cm which is nice. The wedge makes them incredibly easy to walk in and you feel more supported than if you were wearing stiletto heels. The platform isn't too high either and doesn't throw you off balance which can sometimes happen with high platforms.
The snakeskin platform/ wedge is quite pale in colour but adds detail to what would be quite a plain shoe. I sometimes think the snakeskin pattern can look a bit cheap and tacky but Miss KG seem to have got it spot on with Cairo. I think it is down to the contrast against the shoe as it works really well and it isn't so bold and in your face as some patterns can be. The grey colour of the shoe has a slight shine to it and is quite a pale grey which again matches the snakeskin effect.
The shoes are made from leather which manages to soften up enough when they have been worn a few times but it doesn't soften up too much so they don't become loose which is great. The shoes don't offer much support as the sides of the shoe is quite low so they may not be suitable or those that do need a bit of support.
For me these are a great pair of shoes which suit both day and night making them a bit more versatile (Miss KG class these as evening shoes). On holiday they didn't rub or cause any irritation which I thought may happen as sometimes feet can swell in the warm weather. They softened up a little which gave my feet a little more room which was appreciated but they don't gape at the sides or lose their shape. They are incredibly comfortable and I found it easy to walk in them. They will definitely be a pair of shoes I hope to wear more in the spring/ summer (should we have a decent summer!). But in the meantime they are perfect to wear on a night out.
Cairo are available from all Kurt Geiger stockists and retailers but I bought mine on the Kurt Geiger website and they currently cost £75.00 (other styles are on sale). As I said above they come in a variety of colours and fabrics. Sizes start at a 3 (36) and go up to an 8 (41).
