I'm not a big fan of heels and in the job I do, where I am standing on my feet a lot, I need comfy shoes that are either flat or with a small wedge. My last pair of CLarks wedge boots had been worn until the sole was no more and I desperately needed a new pair. My husband said he would get me a pair as part of my Christmas present but I would obviously have to try them and pick as he quite openly said he wouldn't have a clue! Being a fan of Clarks shoes and a fan of their online service offering free returns and free delivery, I immediately looked the Clarks website, which before Christmas were offering 20% off their shoes. THere were some boots that had a rubber style wedge but I didn't want that and instead I opted for these CLarks Marilyn Zoe which have a 'raw stack' wedge, much more my style. At full price these retail at £59.99, but as I said there was a 20% offer when I purchased them (on behalf of my husband!)
The other thing that I didn't want when it came to new wedge boots was suede as there is never a shortage of rain where I live so I didn't want to be restricted to only being able to wear my boots on dry days. These Marilyn Zoe boots are made of leather, but are in fact a soft nubuck, so they do need to be cared for more than plain leather, but they still have that better durability than suede. These boots come in a choice of two colours - the rust colour that is shown in the picture above and which I opted for and a black version.
What makes these wedge boots slightly different is the lace up style, rather than a pull up zip, or slip on boot. Again, I thought this was a nice change from the norm and if I sat down with my boots on show under my trousers, they would look very different.
These wedges also come with softwear foam layers to cushion the feet and I have to say that this really does make these boots comfy enough to be worn all day, without any pain, especially since I don't wear heels in general so my feet would typically get sore when there is height added. I can walk around in these Boots all day and I don't feel any pain when I take them off at the end of the day. I have never tried to go for a long walk in them, but they are not that type of shoe and are a dressy style of show anyhow.
When these Boots arrived before Christmas I couldn't wait to get them on but my husband insisted he wrap them and I wait to Christmas Day. Well, I have had them on almost every other day at work since going back after the Christmas break, and they have been such a good purchase. They look sleek and stylish and perfect for work but also under jeans when wanting to dress up a little. I was really impressed even from the first time I wore them how comfy they were and how they fitted like a glove on my foot. The first day I was expecting something to hurt, either the heel or the ankle part, since most shoes take time to be broken in, however, that just isn't the case with these shoes.
All in all, these are perfect wedge boots. They are extremely comfy, look great dressed up or down, and are worth the money in my opinion.
