I have been using this aftershave on and off for around 4 years and in short: It's one of the nicest smelling aftershaves I have used.
Despite being relatively expensive (Around £40 for 50ml) as soon as you open the box you realise this is a premium product due to the nice metal container for the bottle and also the bottle being in the shape of a male's body.
I have found this aftershave lasts alot longer than most on the market, that long sometimes I can even still smell it on clothes after they have been washed!
The perfume combines the smells of mint, lavender and vanilla to create a very fresh scent.
Because of the aftershave lasting so long you will not need to keep re-applying it, so the aftershave does last along time due to not having to use as much.
This aftershave has been at the top of the market for such along time I believe that suggests how good this aftershave really is; the smell and how long the aftershave last's really set's it apart from the crowd.
I would recommend this to anyone based on those facts.
I have used this Aftershave off and on for years. I wouldn't say it is a favourite of mine, but I do like it and therefore I have bought the odd bottle of this, and got the odd bottle as a present.
I got this in a 50ml bottle and the last time I bought this was about 5 months ago. I think I paid about £30 for this and this was on a special offer on a website online.
I have always liked the bottle of this. It is in the shape of the top of a man's body, and to look at the bottle it may look like it will be hard to hold and spray but it is easier than you think. You just hold this in the middle and spray the area that you want to spray. This bottle comes in a large shiny silver tin as well so I think all in all it looks expensive, but then again it is.
The smell for this is nice. It does smell quite woody and forest like which most Aftershaves do smell like, but there is more of a fresh airy scent to this as well and I like it for this kind of scent that is mixed through. the smell lasts well and I just spray this in the morning and don't bother spraying anymore unless I am going out and want to smell it a bit more.
This smell has been out for a while and I think it is the kind of classic kind of smell that will last in the market place for a good few years to come. Not the same as all the other Aftershaves out there and a nice scent to choose if you want a nice rugged smell but with a bit freshness in as well.
This aftershave has to be one of my favourites as it has a very unique and distinct wonderful aroma and is very long lasting too - the two most important parts of any aftershave! I recently bought another bottle online and wear it quite regularly. I have realised that I may as well wear aftershave even when I am popping out to the shops as I have too many! I certainly wouldn't wear this one out to the shops. However it does make an excellent fragrance for casual nights out and even to work. I am sure it is a hit with the ladies too from my experience through comments I have received whilst wearing it.
The design of any aftershave could be the first thing that attracts you to it. The Jean Paul Gaultier range tend to keep the same design of their bottles for all their scents, whilst differing the colour schemes and colour designs. This bottle comes in the typical glass blue bottle shaped as a man's torso. It has more pale blue stripes on the top half and the top is nice and shiny in a silver colour to add a bit more class to the design. It comes with a safety ring, which prevents the spray button working until you take this off. You can re-apply this too, which could help to defer children from drinking the stuff, and is also ideal for traveling if you are taking the aftershave away in luggage. This beautiful bottle comes encased in a silver tin with a rather urban 'LE MALE' logo on it. The bottle is held in place within this tin in its own stand to stop it from being damaged. Overall the packaging is great and a little unique too. It certainly looks good on a shelf amongst other aftershaves and has a very masculine appearance thanks to the bottle design and blue colour scheme.
At first the aroma is quite pungent so I would not apply more than 2-3 sprays to your neck. It's nice to spray once onto the pulse points of the wrist and then rub them together. I find this makes the aftershave more effective if you are in close contact with people or go to shake hands/hug as a whiff of the aftershave will meet their olfactory receptors bringing a little delight to their mood!
The aroma is best described as an oriental one - warm, slightly spicy one with a slightly sharp finish to it. It is very masculine but deeply warming too and will radiate from your body with only a couple of sprays. It is quite a rich aroma as mentioned before so would be bad to put on too much! Ingredients include vanilla, amber, sandalwood and tonka bean - all accompanied by a fusion of other scents to add to the overall fragrance. I'd rate the fragrance itself highly due to its richness, masculinity and warmth.
This fragrance also scores highly in my opinion for lasting power. As I say, you can apply just 2-3 sprays on your neck (3 is plenty) and one on your wrist before rubbing them together and you are all set to go. It really seems to radiate off your body and especially when you've just applied it, it's really quite rich! With this in mind, if you were ever going to opt for some aftershave that's being sold for rip off prices in a toilet at a bar/club, I'd recommend trying this one out due to its rich and wonderful smell - it'd probably be your best bet - unless of course you have already got another aftershave on, which is still obvious in which case it may conjure up a nasty concoction!
I managed to find the aftershave online for around £31, which was for a 75ml bottle. This is a reasonably large bottle and will last a fair amount of time. You can always get it cheaper if you use cashback sites to receive a percentage of what you pay back, and also through other methods such as invites to certain sites, which will bag you further discounts on your first order! You have to just shop around but you can eventually get it for under £30. I would be careful however not to purchase the 'aftershave' but make sure it is the eau de toilette, as this is the best type that really stays on your skin.
This aftershave really scores in all areas for me. It isn't exactly cheap but it's not overly expensive such as the very profound Aqua Di Palma aftershave or other expensive ones found in Harrods, London. Due to its richness, you need minimal numbers of sprays. It therefore has lasting power, not only once you apply it, but in the long run so a 75ml bottle should keep you going for many months. This original variety has been going for a long time and I always like to revert back to the 'classic' smell, even after trying their other varieties such as the fleur du male one, which is also very pleasant. I couldn't see your partner being disappointed with this aftershave if you were to buy it for him as a gift, and if you are considering it yourself, I'd certainly recommend trying it next time you're out and perhaps making a purchase. Don't forget to look online when purchasing though as you will often find it for a more generous price here!
Thanks for reading
This is one of the most popular fragrances for men on the market and is very distinctive by its smell and look. They have recently started advertising on TV again and I always found the iconic image of the sailor representing the alpha male a little strange. That said this is very much a mans after shave although it is quite sweet.
You should be looking to pay around the 30-£35 mark for a bottle which comes in a sliver can. Now you may think that a fragrance which comes in something that represents the a tin of baked beans however the bottle itself is far more sophisticated. It forms the top half of the human body and certainly makes it stand out. In terms of the price it is slightly more expensive than some of the other competitors out there however if you are going to spend money on a a product of this type then it is well worth spending that little bit extra.
The smell is quite scented and does smell a bit like a bed of flowers however there happens to be more of a zip to the fragrance which gives it more of a mountain freshness. It is quite potent and you do not have to be really close for someone to know what you are wearing. Very much like a BMW or a Mercedes you know exactly what you are getting and that is quality. Whenever I put this on I do feel more confident with my look. I know that I can get close to people on a night out and that I can speak to them clearly because of the way I smell. It also helps to break the ice and is a good conversation starter if your chatting someone up.
There is no doubt that this will get you noticed at that new years eve party you are going to and if you are single then this could get you off to a flying start with someone you like. I am certain if you are wearing this then people will say lots of nice things, they have with me in my experience so go and buy yourself a bottle.
I have bought 'Jean paul Gaultier Le Male for my husband many a time. I really like this scent as well as how it's presented.
The EDT comes in a bottle in the shape of a male's upper body. It looks good and nice to be left out on the dressing table. The bottle is blue / turquoise in colour with a lighter blue stripe. The bottle has a stand, which is the base of the tin in which it is bought. The tin has a kind of nickel effect colour and looks good to give as a present. The bottle has a spray top.
The scent in my opinion isn't too strong. It's quite light, but has a gentle musk smell, very pleasant and smells clean. It isn't too overpowering (which I hate).
I bought this 75ml bottle in August and it is only half used (my husband doesn't use it every day). One good thing is, the scent lasts for quite a while even if the bottle isn't used up within a few months.
75ml of Jean Paul Gaultier Le male EDT Spray is currently £38.49 at Amazon, and the 125ml bottle is £41.11. There are other Le Male products e.g aftershave, body wash and I assume they come in gift boxes. Le Male Deodorant spray (150ml) is available at £20 from Amazon. Products also available in good perfume shops.
Great gift for Christmas!!
Jean Paul Gaultier is one of my fave perfumes for women and aftershave for men. I bought this aftershave for my husband for his birthday last year. My husband loves everything designer so i thought this was a good choice of aftershave.
Jean Paul Gaultier is a top of the range aftershave and has a price tag to match the luxury brand. I bought it from The House Of Fraser in glasgow. They have a huge beauty and fragrance area in the shop. I paid £52.00 for the 75ml bottle.
The bottle comes in very cool packaging, Its a large metal can with the brands logo embossed on it. The lid pulls of and inside is the unique bottle of aftershave. The bottle itself is made of heavy glass and is in the shape of a male torso. The bottle is blue and slightly frosted with white stripes. The bottle has a spray applicator and the bottle has a nauticla theme to it.
The smell of the afershave is amazing, it smells very masculine and sexy. I love when my husband wares it, i could sit a smell him all day! I have never found any other aftershave as sexy as this before. The scent has hints of mint, lavender and vanilla.
My husband was delighted with his new aftershave, he liked the bottle design and agreed the scent was amazing, he said this aftershave gives him pulling powers now (as a joke)! I am going to get him another bottle of Jean Paul Gaultier range for christmas this year as i know its a winner!
It might be a bit expensive but has lasted my hubby 1 year and he does go a bit crazy when spraying it.
I give this 5 dooyoo stars
I have to say I was rather lucky in finding this aftershave as I always thought the brand was aimed at women and not men. A friend in work let me borrow some one day and I was actually amazed at how good the fragrance smelt and I was hooked after the first smell.
I paid for my bootle from boots which cost me about £35 for a 125ml bottle which is pretty reasonable considering the design and packaging the aftershave comes in.
I was lucky enough to get this on offer as it usually wil cost £40 plus but I have also found that there are other online shops that sell it cheaper, so the bargains are out there.
The Jean Paul Gaultier spray comes in a blue bottle which is uniquely shaped like a male torso, at the top of the bottle is the spray function which I find 2 sprays is usually enough to give the desired smell.
The outer packaging of the spray is a tin which is a great marketing tool alone, I have yet to find any other aftershave with some much detail put into the packaging.
When you spray the aftershave it releases a fresh musk type smell with a hint of flowers but in a manly way which is quite hard to explain, next time you are in a shop which sells this aftershave give it a try if at all possible, you might be pleasantly suprised.
The best thing is that I have had so many positive remarks about this aftershave even more than when I wear Joop and that is saying something.
Welld one Jean Paul Gauultier it seems like you are onto a winner here!
Jean Paul Gaultier is one of the most recognised perfume and aftershave makes on the market due to it's distinctive bottle. The bottles are glass versions of the upper torso of a male body (for the aftershave) and the upper torso of a female body (for the perfume) rendering the bottle extremely recognisable. The aftershave bottle comes in a silver coloured tin, similar to a baked bean can without the label (or the beans!) and seems quite trendy packaging for the distinctive bottle. The bottle itself is an aqua-turquoise colour with a silver top which sprays the aftershave and the torso of the bottle has frosted stripes across it, I think the bottle is really nice and I absolutely adore the colour of it.
The aftershave comes in various sizes, the 75ml, 125ml, 200ml sizes. The review here is for the standard and original version of the aftershave, yet there are frequently limited editions which are recognisable by the different patterns displayed on the torso of the bottle.
The aftershave itself is delightful, along with Issey Myake this has to be one of my favourites. Having done a bit of research, the base notes of the aftershave contains sandalwood, vanilla, cedar, tonka bean and amber, these are the smells that last for the longest and the aftershave certainly does last a long time, which could be a drawback, the base notes linger on clothes and skin for over 24 hours, so I think they can clothes can smell "worn" and may need washing frequently if you don't like the stale aftershave smell.
The middle notes of the aftershave are Lavender, orange blosson, cumin and cinnamon. The spice of the cinammon and orange combined with the sandalwood and vanilla really make this aftershave stand out for me. There is a very sensual smell to this aftershave and I think it really draws people in. It is a smell I like very much and find myself drawn to people who are wearing it which may or may not sound stalkerish.
The top notes which are what you smell first and wear off the quickest are mint, bergamot, artemesia and cardamom. Having only got a clue what mint smells like, I assume this is what gives it the fresh smell when it is first sprayed.
The price of the aftershave is a premium, usually £30-£40 for the 125ml. I would suggest that the larger version (200ml) would start to smell stale after a while due to being exposed to air for that long, unless you obvious drown yourself in the aftershave on a daily basis. You really only need one or two squirts a day and so the aftershave does last a good while, probably the best part of a year for the average user, so approximately 1p-2pence per squirt per day represents good value for money for such a lovely scent.
I first encountered this aftershave when I passed a man in the road who smelt absolutely gorgeous, don't worry it's not one of those cheesy romantic endings. I asked him what he smelt of and he told me Jean Paul Gaultier Aftershave. The next day I went out and bought it for my husband.
The packaging is simple and pleasing to look at. It comes in an industrial style plain silver coloured tin can; inside the can is a smooth glass bottle in the shape of a man's torso. It's striped in blue and greyish white, quite nautical. It's nice to look at and to handle. It's a spray top meaning it lasts for longer and cannot be spilled.
The smell as I mentioned earlier, is absolutely gorgeous, it definitely adds to the attraction levels of my partner. It's quite strong but not in a nasty or overpowering way. Other people have made nice comments on the way my husband smells and have asked for the name of the aftershave.
The cost is a little on the expensive side, for my budget, at round about £45 for 125ml depending where you get it or about £35 for 75ml, but it is a luxury worth having.
Le male is a fine fragrance first released in 1995. It is the highest selling men's fragrance in Europe based on sales according to Wikipedia.
It has a very distinctive bottle which is shaped like a man's torso & upper legs. It is coloured in two shades of blue horizontally striped across the bottle making it fit very well with Jean Paul Gaultier's famous nautical themes.
I absolutely love this fragrance. I have done ever since the first moment that I smelled it. It is a very good quality item (as you would expect for the price you pay!) The smell is very long lasting & pretty strong without being over powerfull. I find the actual smell to be manly & deep. It doesn't smell fruity or particularly flowery but does have a little sweetness to the fragrance. I also think that it is quite unique & doesn't seem to smell similar to anything else. Also, the product lasts a long time & maintains it's smell for ages. My bottle is over a year old & still smells as good as the day I bought it.
I would recommend this to all the guys out there. I guarantee that wearing this will make you feel good & that you'll smell nice. I've even been at a party & been told by a woman "you smell really good" while wearing this. My favourite aftershave by a long distance.
As you can see by the other reviews, they all mention that this fragrance is an absolute woman-puller. And i couldn't agree more. I have owned several bottles for over 3 years now, and i can never see myself using a different bottle as my main smell. Women complement me wherever i go for haivng such good taste, and it drives my girlfriend wild, and she has mentioned how it was that that pulled her in in the first place.
I personally have the 125ml. which tends to last me around about a year, wearing it most days. So, i would imagine the 75ml would last a least that with moderate usage.
Furthermore, just look at the bottle, its a work of art in itself, and the tin that it comes in is very usefull indeed, so usefull have kept all mind to use as money pots etc.
So there we are, buy JEAN PAUL GUALTIER if you wanna attract alot of (the right) attention. :)
I have owned this aftershave since my birthday about 12 months ago, and have barely gotten through it- 75ml is a lot for such a fragrance!
The smell is absolutely beautiful and my girlfriend simply loves it. It's hard to describe; deep and complex with floral and oriental notes, and among the nicest things that i've ever smelt. I find that it is too nice to wear on a day-to-day basis, and as such I use it on the weekends and for going out, resorting to lynx for day-to-day normal wear, which is why I haven't used it as much as I expected.
The price is a little high at about £35 but it's 100% worth it. The complex and deep aroma garners attention from a surprising amount of people, for an aftershave, definitely more than other, more standard offerings I have tried from diesel, boss and lacoste. I love the smell so much and am told that it suits me enough that I bought the next fragrance in the range (fleur du male) and am contemplating buying Gaultier 2.
What can I say... I think this was the reason I stayed with my ex husband for three years and why he managed to pull me in the first place. I don't know what it is about this aftershave, but it makes me wanna sleep with whichever man (i would like to think within reason) is wearing it. Mmmm, it instantly screams "sleep with me" or "i'm good in bed" and is possibly the sexiest smelling aftershave there is out there and instantly gives men sex appeal when they are wearing it.
it has this enticing fresh, musky sexy smell which makes men smell as if they are successful/ powerful and flirty. and i cant describe it but it makes them instantly really attractive. I say this because I have since been on a few dates with a guy who wasnt wearing it on the first date, and there wasnt really a very strong sexual attraction there but then he wore it on the second date (i didnt know until later) and i felt much more attracted to him. it was only after i saw it in his bathroom that it all fell into place. and in a club/ airport/ public place if a guy is wearing it, i will always notice and check him out.
so bottom line fellas, if you wanna drive a woman wild with desire, then use this. but dont tell every guy, I would hate to become immune to this any time soon. And girls, make sure your guy only wears this when he's with you! otherwise women will be all over them. I hope you enjoyed my review and it was useful.
The first time i tried this was when my girlfriend bought it me as a christmas presant (only because she liked it). This is a very good pulling aftershave for any man I will say.
When you watch the lynx advert for the lynx effect this is what it is like. One spray and I have found my girlfriend is all over me they must have made it with an enzyme that works with the female brain. It cost her £47 from boots and came in a mans torso shaped bottle which is blue. The case is a metal tin that in the base their is a piece of plastic that this bottle stands up in. I have always had the 75 mil bottle but it does come in smaller quantities and one bigger. It costs alot of money in my opinion and a bottle will last me about 5 months so it is a good job my birthday is 6 months after christmas because I don't have to buy it then.
I don't use mine unless I am going out but my girlfriend has taken a liking to using it on the bedsheets to make them smell nice she says. I will say that I think it is a bit expensive to use like this but she is the one that buys it for me as she will keep reminding me.
Overall this is a nice smelling aftershave that comes in an unusual bottle and case, it seems a bit expensive but is worth every penny (if it keeps my girlfriend attracted to me).
Mr Lools has been accosted again in my pursuit to review all of his fragrances for the good of all dooyooers. This time he had just come out of the shower and was sat watching Come Dine With Me. With having clean skin I thought this was the perfect moment to spray, smell and then review.
Before I go into the product details I must point out that Mr Lools actually bought Le Male as an impulse purchase when walking around Boots about a year ago. Venturing into Boots alone is unusual for him in itself as he usually would ask me to get him what he needed or tag along onto one of my shopping trips. Secondly Mr Lools does not make impulse purchases. I am the shopper in our house and he frowns upon my shopping habits or when I defend my impulse purchases as "a treat" or "I just fancied something new". All I can say is he must have REALLY liked this fragrance to break his own rules!!
The outer packaging of the fragrance is the same as the JPG female Classique perfume; A shiny metal tin. In embossed writing Jean Paul Gaultier is written and underneath Le Male is written. The top of the tin pulls off and the base of the outer tin has a stand for the bottle to fit upright in.
The bottle is in the shape of a male torso. The torso has broad shoulders and toned looking body. The bottle is a semi opaque turquoise/ blue colour. Across the chest of the bottle is some lighter blue/ white horizontal stripes; which make the figure look like it is wearing a stripy vest. The liquid inside the bottle is visible. The theme is very nautical and in my opinion looks like a sailor type outfit. Although very masculine in shape the whole nautical theme is quite tongue in cheek and suggestively camp. Mr Lools disagrees with this however.
The RRP for 125ml of this is £45.00. Mr Lools purchased 125ml in Boots for £40.00. The fragrance is also available in a 75ml bottle for £32.00. Prices vary between retailers but I have spotted a 125ml bottle available online from directcosmetics.com for £28.99 which does seem very reasonable. The price of the item does seem quite expensive however the scent is quite strong so because you do not need to spray a lot of the fragrance on the skin, it means the bottle does last a long time and better value for money than a cheaper but weaker scent.
The official description of the scent is:
"This fine fragrance for men has notes of Mint, Artemisia, Cardamom, Bergamot, Lavender, Orange Blossom, Cinnamon, Cumin, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Cedar, Amber and Tonka Bean."
I was very impressed by Mr Lools' impulse purchase the scent of this fragrance is amazing. The whole nautical theme runs to the scent not just the bottle, there is such freshness to this scent which I feel comes from the notes of mint. This is not like a toothpaste type smell though it's a lot more subtle and minty and made sweet by the mix of cinnamon and vanilla scents. The overall scent is a fresh spicy slightly woody scent which I feel it is clear there are essences of sandalwood and cardamom.
When the fragrance is initially sprayed the scent is very strong and at first appears to be slightly overpowering and very spicy. This strong scent dies down however the scent can be smelt all day, and does not re applying. It is very easy to spray too much of this scent on which could mean it is too overpowering and spoil just how nice the scent of this fragrance is.
The scent is very unique and if you walk past anyone who is wearing this scent can very easily be identified as Le Male due to its spicy, yet fresh slightly woody scent.
This fragrance is totally unique in its scent. Its very fresh and clean smelling, with a spicy and woody twist. When I smell this scent walking past a guy wearing it, it gives a very clean scent. It's suitable for men of all ages. The packaging looks great and although it is slightly above average in cost it is a good investment as the bottle lasts a long time. An absolutely fantastic fragrance just don't be tempted to spray too much on!
