Escape for men comes in a very plain glass cylinder with shiny silver plastic lad; the words "ESCAPE for men" are embossed in black lettering, with ESCAPE in 6mm block capitals.
It is an almost clear opaque liquid with a fruity, herby smell which is quite powerful at first but doesn't have the greatest staying power.
Top notes: Eucalyptus / Melon / Juniper / Grapefruit / Mango / Bergamot
Middle notes: Rosemary / Cypress / Fir / Sage / Birch / Sea notes
Base notes: Sandalwood / Amber / Patchouli / Oakmoss / Vetiver
**Patchouli is a member of the mint family**
**Vetiver is an Indian grass**
In what situation would I wear it?
This EDT was usually in my work bag (well it's really a laptop case) for going to interviews. I like the smell as it is not overpowering, but it is now causing an itchiness when putting too much on my neck; this may put an end to using it on my skin. I think I'll just spray it on my collar and cuffs to give the scent without it touching me! I wouldn't wear it for going out as I don't feel that tree bark is really a fun scent, more a professional office type of smell, that being said I have had it in my bag for a few years now and I haven't noticed any great decrease in scent which is unusual! It's definitely one for working professionals, but the 30-40 age group I think it would suit best.
I purchased this a few years ago in Semi Chem so I can't remember what I paid for it then, but a check on Amazon.co.uk has the 100 ml bottle which I am reviewing selling for £19.45, reduced from the £42.50 RRP. A 50 ml size is also available, but for a more expensive price from an external retailer.
Would I recommend Calvin Klein Escape Eau de Toilette for Him?
Whilst it has a reasonable smell, it doesn't linger for long and it certainly is a good purchase for those seeking a competitively priced designer brand such as Calvin Klein. I wouldn't buy it again though as something in it makes me a bit itchy! Overall a 2 stars product which I won't be in market for again.

My boyfriend has quite a large collection of fragrances - I tend to call them aftershaves, but not sure what the correct terminology is. Maybe it's just perfume for men!
Personally I love the Calvin Klein unisex fragrances, and have used CK One for many years, and also dabbled in CK Be (both of which I have reviewed previously). However, this one "Escape" is a fragrance just for men rather than being a unisex one. My boyfriend has the 100ml bottle which retails at around a very reasonable amount of £20. It has been around now since 1993, so is one which has stood the test of time.
It comes in quite a plain looking cylindrical bottle with frosted glass, and a shiny silver lid. There is a nozzle spray dispenser.
Amazon describes the scent as "An adventurous blend of eucalyptus and melon with citrus, warmed by notes such as rosemary, fir and birch on bases of amber and sandalwood" - I'm not really much good when it comes to describing scents, and generally stick with saying that it smells very nice. I can definitely detect the eucalyptus and citrus in there though. It's one which I like my boyfriend wearing anyway - I think it is a lovely fresh scent. It lasts pretty well throughout the day, but at that price wouldn't be a problem if it needed topping up. I would go with the recommendation that this is one most suited to wear in the daytime.
This might not be the most modern of fragrances, but it's one that you can trust and I think would suit most men (apart fro really young ones perhaps). There is also a women's Escape perfume, but personally I'm not a fan of that one.
5 out of 5 stars from me.
Kalvin Klein is a perfume which I admire. I think that the smell of this perfume makes ladies fall at a glance ;). I have been using this perfume for 2 years and it's never let me down. The one good thing about this perfume is that it sticks for days, (one spray might stay for 2 or three days during winter time for instance.)
The perfume can be applied in many occasions; I for example, spray it when I visit family, wear formal clothing, go out with old friends and sometimes during work. The perfume is not very suitable during casual or daily life because the smell is a little heavy.
One of the good things about Escape is the price, I mean for only £23 you can get this great product. I strongly recommend every man at his 20s to try Klavin Klein Escape and I guarantee that he'll like it and will use it again and again.
Calvin Klein is one of the world’s leading fashion houses and as is the norm with the major fashion houses, has created several fragrances to add to its portfolio. Calvin Klein’s fragrance business is infact one of the most successful with many famous brands. Infact recently I had written about CK’s Contradiction, which I found to be a lovely fragrance. Unfortunately I found Contradiction to be something that I did not feel comfortable wearing in the day and during working and casual hours. It was something that I used to use only in the evenings whilst going for occasions. Therefore when I laid eyes on Calvin Klein’s Escape and saw that this fragrance was recommended for office wear, I had no hesitation whatsoever in picking up a bottle at the duty free over a month ago. My bottle of Contradiction just finished a couple of weeks ago and since then I have been using Escape and now feel in a good position to give a worthwhile opinion on it. Calvin Klein launched the Escape range for men in 1993. The fragrance is very crisp, clean and refreshing and this is what makes it ideal for daywear. It has a very fruity element to it and this gives it a lot of life and character. I personally think that it is has an extremely masculine aroma and one that should appeal to the opposite sex. The packaging is another excellent aspect to this fragrance and as you would expect for the price you pay. The box is an appealing mustard coloured one and is rectangular in shape. The bottle is cylindrical in shape and has a large silver cap that incorporates about one third of the total size of the bottle. The actual fragrance is an amber colour and a darker shade of the box colour. Calvin Klein Escape comes in several variations. You have the Eau de Toilette and the Aftershave. The Eau de Toilette is also available in both the spray version and the non spray version (atomizer).
They are also available in two bottle sizes being 50ml and 100ml. The type that I picked up was the 100ml Eau de Toilette Spray version and I paid only £22.00. If you were to purchase the equivalent here in the U.K. it would cost you between £35.00 to £40.00. The aftershave is naturally a little cheaper but lacks the potency of the Eau de Toilette. Overall I have found CK’s Escape to be an excellent buy and one that I have found ideal for daywear. The fact that I work in an office helps even more and the favourable comments that I have received from both sexes makes me sure that this is a good choice and one that I intend to use for quite sometime to come.
CK Escape for Men is, as said before, an established classic fragrance for men- and deservedly so. Its fresh yet warm at the same time- a sensual blend of herbs, spices, musk and other enchanting ingredients. Its an adventurous, suggestive fragrance which you are sure to fall in love with immediately. It remains warm whilst also having a delightful crisp edge, which allows it to be irresistibly attractive yet subtle at the same time. Its an enchanting fragrance that conjures both feelings of happiness and desire. The essence of its success is probably its uniqueness- many Design houses have tried to imitate, but this is the original and definitely the best. Simply put, adventure, warmth and sensuality in a bottle. Beautiful.
Calvin Klein Escape is a bit of a classic fragrance, and there are very good reasons for it still being so popular. Rather than the run of mill 'heavy' musk - laden scents usually thrust upon the Male fragrance market, this one comes as a fresh, light and extremly summery alternative; without being too flowery or feminine. I was presented with a gift of this fragrance last year (in the Eau de Toilette version) and I haven't worn anything else since! This is the ideal fragrance for any guy who doesn't enjoy smelling like he just wandered off the set of 'Miami Vice'. Usually available as a gift set involving Shower gel, aftershave balm, and Eau De Toilette, I would certainly suggest investing. If you're looking to find an ideal fragrance which makes a fresh statement without asphixiating friends & loved ones- make it this one.
