Hi, My name is Manisha Dahiya. I am pursuing my MBA from IPEL Centre for Distance Learning, Ghaziabad, which is an authorised Study Centre of LOVELY Professional University, Punjab. My experience is very good. The Study Centre is very good and at a very good location just adjacent to State Bank of India. In Distance Learning usually the classes are not provided, But in LPU & specially in IPEL I experience that the classes are properly conducted with proper time- table & with very qualified teachers. The teachers are very good, if any doubt they clear all the doubts very nicely.

We're do I start, I have had nothing but problems with edistancelearning, I lost my job and asked to half the payments, to which they agreed, and wot happens, they take the full amout, so I phoned them and spoke with a so called adviser who had to email some one, who had to email some one else, and still awaiting for an answer, and this has happend twice, it's a joke and stay well away, because from my experiences with these people all they want it your money and to be quite honest don't give a damn about there students and I only had to give a star rating as it would not process my review

      Choose another provider

Distance Learning College and Training Before I decided to start a course with the Distance Learning College and Training, I looked for reviews in the web. I did not find many and most of them were pretty decent. Unfortunately for me the experience with the Distance Learning College and Training has been a real nightmare. I found the hard way that my over 800 pounds only paid for very poor customer service, very poor and insufficient tutoring, an awful lot of time wasted, a lot of ignored emails and "ghost books". After around many unanswered emails I finally found out that most of the "books" included in the course were not really "books" but "mails and other information"... If I have to describe with few words the attitude of the Distance Learning College and Training to customers is: "ignore the customer". So, do not make the mistake I made. Choose another provider. It can not be worse than this one!

More opinions and ratings and reviews are needed!

During the last days I was very busy to find the right course for becoming a Teaching Assistant Level 3. There are so many guidelines, akronyms, course titles, levels and Certificates... For those who want to find the right course, here are my research results: I. Via Presence Course 1. a local college Mostly not a full-time course, so there is time for other jobs or family. But a placement in a school is necessary. At the Hugh Baird College in Liverpool they also told me (this is not on the website) that not only a 2-days-placement during the course is needed but also about four months experience in this very school before you apply for the course. If you are unlucky like me, who volunteered for four months in two primary schools, which were outside Liverpool, they wouldn't accept that, because they wouldn't drive so far to observe you on your work place. So I tried to find another school within Liverpool but for any reasons all of my 40 applications for volunteering were unsuccessful. So this option fell off. 2. Adult Learning Centre or other institutions Evening courses, so there is time for other jobs or family. Costs in L'pool about 440,-. Quite expensive. If a placement in a school is needed I couldn't find out yet, as the info evening is in 3 weeks. But I decided for a Distance Learning course anyway. II. Distance Learning There are sooo many colleges!!!! It took me four full days to compare, consider, and decide. Things you have to look at are - which Level do you want? - Is the qualification officially accredited? Look for NCFE, CACHE, or Ascentis as one of the awarding bodies and for the governmental QCF (Qualification and Credit Framework) accreditation. These are the official bodies to ensure the official requested quality of the course. A certificate just given by the college is useless and wouldn't be recognised or accepted by any employer. - There are Level 1 - 4 for TAs. And within these levels you can find Awards and Diplomas. The Diploma is the higher title. So if you want to go for the higher qualification because you are changing your career completely and want to do it as reliable and effective as possible, then go for the Diploma. But there are not as many colleges which offer the Diploma. Some of them give you a college related Diploma, which is not an officially accepted title. Most of the colleges do the Award. - There is a new course called "Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools". Where the different in content to the Teaching Assistant Level 3 course is, I don't know. I was just told by two colleges that this is a more up-to-date-course than the normal TA L3. And you need a placement in a school for a few hours a week. But I still couldn't say, if this one is higher then the Diploma or not. So I decided against it. - Look at the contents. For me the ICT and SEN were very important as these qualification are the most questioned and challenging ones. As a TA you need to know about new media in teaching, and you will always deal with children, mostly 1-1, with special educational needs. So a course which doesn't cover that doesn't make much sense in my opinion. And will restrict your possibilities. - Try to find reviews. It is hard and there are just a handful of colleges reviewed. A well-equipped comparison website for that is missing. I eventually went for the TA Level 3 Diploma with eDistance. The price is reliable, estimated working hours are 360 (colleges with less than the half were suspicious to me. You have to work for a degree. And I think, the information and learning content you'll get are more efficient). And I know sb. who just finished the course with eDistance and was satisfied. Apart from that I took following colleges for closer consideration: UK Open College Cambridge Open College DCA Home Learning eDistance Learning At Home UK Open Learning My Distance Learning College The Teaching Assistant College Open Study College UK Distance Learning Oxford College Stonebridge I will see if my decision was the right one. But I hope I could help the Researchers a bit.

A brilliant route for those who don't want to spend masses

I started a Distance Learning Programe last November with Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance doing a BA HONS Theatre Studies Degree, the only one of it's kind online. Asofar, I have found it to be very valuable and convienient for my life style. The most attractive thing about higher education Distance Learning Programes are the cost. For a standard or conventional university cost a school leaver (or indeed and adult who wants to gain further qualifications) is looking to pay thousands and land themselves in dept which will take years to pay back. With Distance Learning, you are able to save thousands of pounds and prevent landing yourself in masses of dept. The other attractive aspect of Distance Learning is that you can fit it into your everyday lifestyle around work, family and hobbies. I dedicate and hour a day to my study as well as working full time, running a martial arts class and having a social life. It is all possible when usuing a Distance Learning course to achieve what you want in life. Thos only problem with this is that you have to be increadibly self motivated and disciplined which I have sometimes faultered with! But, you can always catch up as all the material you need is available constantly on the Vertual Learning Enviornment. Overll, I believe Distance Learning Programes are more atttractive than conventional routes which are times consuming and wildly expensive.

I wouldnt of picked anything else!

I have just been beginning my BA in Business for the final year of study awarded by Wales university. I decided to study this with RDI a charming and respectible United Kingdom company and my Diploma will soon be a degree. They offer lots of courses in finance, business and managing and the best for me was the staff who helped me get my offer letter. I haven't met a more friendly person before and she gives me any support or help I need. Even now I am studying she is still happy to hear form me and will help if you have any problems The study materials are brilliant and I have not needed to buy anything else with my studies. I thought I just wanted a short course (which Rdi do not offer) but I'm very glad I chose to get a real degree. Thank you Rdi, a truly professional distance learning company not like all the other company's you might make the mistake to pick.

Although the content of the course I am doing through the Distance Learning Centre (Property Development Level 3) is of a good standard, the course is disjointed and full of spelling and grammatical errors. Considering this is supposed to be an A-Level equivalent course, it does not give you much faith when it is sent out without even basic proof reading! The assignment questions are ambiguous and do not give you any idea as to what sort of answer is expected to achieve a pass. An example of this is one of the questions asked me to 'summarise the type of properties that are ripe for development' and my assignment was returned to me for being too short. Apparently 'summarise' requires a 1000 word answer!!I won't be using Distance Learning Centre again.

reasnoble prices, excellent support and friendly staff!!

I was looking for reviews for Distance Learning Colleges this time last year and found them very hard to come by. When you are thinking of distance learning for the fist time it can be quite worrying when you cannot find any decent reviews. I started looking around at a few different distance learning providers as well as some local colleges. I felt a bit like a lot of the distance learning providers charged obscene amounts of money to send me some materials and not offer me much support. I came across the Distance Learning College and Training and spoke to a woman who put my mind at ease instantly and took me through a level of support that i hadn't come across before. I am nearly finished the course now and will be looking to complete the next level with Distance Learning College and Training. The tutors are there whenever you need them and they bend over backwards to relate specifics back to your work place which for me was a huge help. If anyone is looking into distance learning i would suggest the distance learning college and training. From some of the reviews i have read on here i think i made the right choice.

Hello, I am paying for a bookkeeping course at home learning college, in order to sit for the AAT exams. Since October i'm trying to book an exam, but nothing happened so far. I've purchase the course for 24 repayments of 129,35 pounds. This course include materials (part receive), a software ( not received yet), and exams bookings fees. I've choose an online course to increase my speed, but instead they are slowing me down. I don't know what else to do, I've contact them several times, They even sent me the date for the exams, but it was cancelled later.I think that they're trying to make the time of tuition run out. That's just to let you know who are teaching for aatThank you.

Re NECBe prepared to pay between £130 / 150 on top of the rather expansive course materials. I wouldn't recommend NEC or any other distance learning outfit. Go to your local college or don't bother! After reading the intro stuff you realise quickly thay "you are responsible for pretty much everything" to the point when you think, mmmm this book seems pretty expensive! You get appointed a tutor who returns work quite quickly with red pen correcting any grammar errors. Your local college teaches you how to construct, start and finalise essays properly. the NEC material / costs are poor in comparison.

I've just finished my AS Biology, English and Psychology Exams with NEC, having received two A's and a B grade and I am just about to start on the A2s. I have enjoyed my courses and plan to go on to do at least another AS before I go to University. I choose NEC over other companies as they send you the course materials at the start of the course in hard copy and they also give you access to them online. They were up front and honest from the start about all of the costs involved and told me lots about the up and coming changes to specifications. They did not pressure me into buying anything, unlike ICS - who still call me which is a complete nuisance.

        Oxford College: Well worth it!!

I recently finished a Level 3 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Oxford College. Within 2 months of finishing, I was back in a job after looking for over a year! The course was really good! I got loads of help from my tutor and all the stuff I needed to finish the course was easy to get to. I would highly reccomend using Oxford College to get a qualification. Even though it was a 2 year course, I could finish it when i wanted so I didn't have to worry about it all the time. It only took me 9 months! I live in ROI, but even though i was miles away from where they are, the call center was really helpful. They ansered all my emails within a day and there was always someone there to take my call. If there's anyone out there looking for a good qualification to help get a job, I'd reccomend Oxford college every time! 5/5
