      Very helpful

      A great little kitchen

My daughter received quite a lot of gifts for her first birthday, all of which she has enjoyed. One toy that she loves to play with everyday is this Chad Valley Little Kitchen which is quite difficult to source. My sister bought this toy for my little girl and as far as I know she picked it up in one of Argos' toy sales. You can still get them on the likes of ebay as well.

This chad valley little kitchen is a bright colourful toy which is literally a mini kitchen, therefore not taking up a lot of room, which for us is good. In fact, my daughter keeps it in the main kitchen so she can use it when I am cooking the dinner. There are quite a lot of elements of this toy all squeezed into one little kitchen and it is an all singing, button pressing kitchen.

Firstly, there is a washing machine, where you can press a button to watch the clothes in the washing machine going round and hear the beep when the cycle is done making it quite realistic. The more you press the button the more the washing goes round. There is also a whirring noise to resemble the noise of a real washing machine. It took my daughter a few weeks before she was able to really get the hang of pressing the button to keep the washing machine going round and round, and now she never stops.

Above the washing machine is a little sink, where there is a tap that has a button that can be pressed to resemble the sound of water going down the sink. THis wouldn't be as appealing to my daughter as some of the other buttons, but she still does press it.

Above the sink there are two hanging utensils - a ladle and a frying pan with bacon and eggs in it that can then be put on the hob to cook. The utensils are fairly easy for a child to get off but more difficult to get back onto the hooks.

Beside the sink is a blender and with the touch of a button it can be whizzed up. TO be honest my daughter really didn't like the noise this made at the beginning, and at times she is still reluctant to press it, so is isn't a feature she is terribly fond of.

There are two shakers sitting on a shelf above the oven and hob - one for salt and one for pepper, although very strangely there are labelled wrongly, with the S for Salt clearly being on the pepper shaker and the P for pepper being on the salt shaker. My daughter is obviously not aware of this, but I jsut find it quite strange. She does like carrying these round however but hasn't really got the concept of what they are for.

My daughters favourite feature is probably the oven and hob. There are two buttons, one for the hob, where if you press the button, a red glow appears showing that the hob is ready to cook on. The second button is for the oven, and there is a door that can be opened, and a roast chicken has been provided by Chad Valley that just fits the oven. When you press the button for the oven, after a few beeps a little song comes on, which my daughter absolutely adores and she dances around the kitchen when it playing. IN fact, she will hit the button again and again simply to hear the tune. SHe does like to put the chicken in and out of the oven as well.

All in all, this is a great little starter kitchen set for a younger child. Obviously if my daughter continues to show interest in this kind of toy I would get her a bigger more equipped kitchen, but this is ideal for her age right now, and she really does love it. I'm so glad my daughter got this as a gift as it is probably something I hadn't thought of getting, but it is well worth it!
