I went to the tinseltown near Farringdon, the website looked good, the menu looked good... the staff wouldn't let us have a booth because there were only 3 of us so we sat next to an empty booth the whole evening. The menu had some great American stuff on it like the milkshakes and waffles. I tried a burger as I'm a bit of a burger connoisseur having sampled burgers from LA to Moscow. So basically, the bun was basic frozen long life cash and carry stuff, not even as good as a supermarket bakery ones. The meat had an odd taste to it but was low grade frozen crap, I've had better from a van in the street. The fires and onion rings were nothing special, the staff seemed to have trouble speaking English and loafed around chatting whilst tables sat there with half of their food. The couldn't even get 2 burgers and some cheesy fries on our table within 5 mins of each other. They had kosher bacon and ham on the menu but not in stock, it was crossed out with a biro on half of the menus. Strangely they were quite busy but with people who looked like they had never been to a real American dinner. Bottom line, better burgers at Burger King or even from the supermarket, looks good but the food is crap. Would never go there again.
DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I suffered SEVERE food poisoning after eating at the St. John's Street branch a few weeks ago. My doctor confirmed that my symptoms were consistent with eating raw chicken, and I hadn't eaten anything 6 hours prior to the incident. The chicken looked pink, but the waiter assured me it was the Cajun marinade they used, when I tried to send it back. The restaurant denied all liability and did not so much as apologize. Furthermore, after telling this to a friend, she remarked that when eating there someone in her party had found a dead fly in their burger. If food poisoning and dead insects in your food doesn't turn you off- the service is horrible, the food is tasteless and overpriced, and the neon-green, balmy basement atmosphere isn't exactly appetizing. As someone only trying to help you, STAY AWAY, your money is better spent on a root canal, or something equally unpleasant.
Their are several Tinsel towns in london, one of them being 44-46 s john street london EC1M 4DF. other Tinsel towns are Hampstead, leicster, wimbledon and Hollywood. ITs an american stlye diner and its theme is of hollywood. The best advantage about this place is that it is open 24/7 , it never closed, and no matter what time i have gone there has always been people in there, which most be good. The prices are not the cheapest, however you do get a big portion, i usualy scare mine as i can't finish it. The menu has a large veriety, it has everything from American style burgers, Chinese stir fry's and Mexican dishes. However the food is not the reason that it is so popular, it is the milkshakes and desert. Tinseltown is an American style diner very popular with celebrities, they've recently expanded the franchise to the UK, and have branches all over including Hampstead. Basically Food is over-priced and not very nice, infact my friend who ordered the italian pasta with chicken - his chicken was off and the pasta was cold. However I got the chinese dish it was warm, and tasted alright however the chicken was also off! The food and drinks are well over priced. The best thing out of the experience was the hot chocolate which was edible and actually tasty (but quite small + expensive) The place is very popular, it is also halal, and "great for tourists", all over the walls there are pictures of celebrities sometimes the pitcures include the manager/boss of tinseltown standing with the celeb. The one in central london opens 24 hours, so you can go any time. For more info visit their website tinseltown.co.uk
