A lovely restaurant where I can stay forever

A very long time ago I was fortunate enough to stumble across The Stables Bar & Restaurant, the occasion, I am unsure of but whatever it was I thank it for introducing me to this well hidden gem.
      *~*Location*~*

The Stables Bar & Restaurant is located on the grounds of Soughton Hall. The Stables Bar & Restaurant is created from the Hall's original Stables block and has a distinctive Horsey theme!
Each table is named after a famour racehorse downstairs and upstairs each table is named after a famous racecourse.
The Stables Bar & Restaurant is located off the beaten track and therefore its quite exclusive in my opinion.
Located just down the road from Michael Owen's home in Northop this is a fantastic, quiet location where you can have a really intimate meal/celebration.
      *~*The Food*~*

The food served here is exquisite I just love it. Fine dining that isn't too faffy but just leaves you wanting a tiny bit more.
I have been here to eat several times now and I always have an enjoyable experience. We tend to eat here for special occasions and in June I am sure we will be popping there again for our 3 year wedding anniversary.

During the week they offer a 2 course menu for £14.95 which represents excellent value for money as the food is of a very high standard and many of the ingredients are locally sourced.
What I love about The Stables is they always have a course with Goats Cheese my absolute favourite .
On my last visit I had Goats Cheese and Tomato Bruschetta which was served on a bed of rocket with a honey and mustard dressing and a beetroot relish and I could have licked the plate it was that scrummy.
Although the portions themselves were not huge they were just the right size to fill you.

For my main course I opted for the Fish and Chips and wow this was amazing. The chips were served in a minature frying basket on a sheet of greaseproof newspaper and the battered haddock draped across, visually it looked fantastic and wow it tasted amazing.
It would have been nice to have some peas on the side such as a pea puree to be in keeping with the "posh" food style but overall the portion size although not huge was very satisfying.

The two course menu is only served Monday to Thursday but it really does represent great value for money especially if you have a special occasion midweek like we do :-)
There is plenty to choose from on the menu including light bites, sandwiches and main courses.

The wine list does not exist, however there is an extensive amount of wines on display and you can simply choose from the wine cellar on display which wine you would prefer. As travellers to South Africa my husband and I have a real passion for South African wine and The Stables have a great selection to choose from.
The staff are friendly and keen to please. For me this is a very important factor as I have to have good customer service as I feel it really has an impact on my enjoyment as a whole.

The stables are happy to entertain children but there is no baby changing facilities at the restaurant and they do not have highchairs available for use, something to keep in mind if you are visiting with younger children.
If you are seated downstairs however there is room to have a pram/pushchair or if you have disabled guests room for a wheelchair but there are no disabled toilets but they are located however on the ground floor.
We had a meal here on a Friday and for a party of 8 adults our bill came to just under £200 and in that we had 2 bottles of champagne, 2 course meal and a selection of soft drinks.

The atmosphere here is relaxed and each and every time we have eaten here we have never felt rushed in any way in fact its like being in your own dining room, although there are people around you, this venue has the ability to make you feel like there is nobody else around. In the evening the tables contain tea lights and pillar candles which instantly turn it into a romantic setting and upstairs there is a roaring fire to keep you warm in the winter nights.
This hidden gem truly is my favourite restaurant of all time.
