The best toasted Panini sandwiches I have ever tasted are made here in The Cafe, Cirencester. Dont know what a panini sandwich is? it is an italian bread made to an authentic recipe with Olive Oil. You can have a choice of fillings such as mozzarella pesto and tomato, stilton, walnut and mushroom, cheddar, ham and tomato, brie and cranberry, red onion, cheddar and tomato or cheddar and pizza sauce plus tuna melt. The panini is toasted on a special grill which takes only a couple of minutes and mmmm they are delicious. They do cost £3.95 but it is a meal in itself and worth every penny. The Cafe also does baguettes with what ever filling you want. You can choose anything and have them made as you wait. If you are in a hurry you can either phone through an order or have an already made one. They make all their own food daily from soups, cakes, salads, quiche. Also they do flapjacks, shortbread, cider cake and they are famous for their banoffi pie. At the moment from Monday to Thursday have a free top up of coffee. They do have a couple of seats near the window if you are a smoker. This does not interfere with the non smoking part at all. The staff are very friendly and although you order at the counter they will carry your meal or drink over to you and nothing is too much trouble if you want say a salad without say the tomato, this is what you want and that is what you will get. Going back to the panini sandwiches. You can buy these machines now to make these at home (Debenhams £35) but before you buy one check out that somewhere in your town sells the bread for them as not many places do. If you are in Cirencester, pop round to 1 Brewery Court where the cafe is. You will get a good meal or snack there.
No I am not in the wrong category. This restaurant is called The Cafe. Admittedly though the cafe is downstairs and the Restaurant upstairs so you get the best of both worlds. We are not talking your usual greasy type Cafe here of greasy breakfasts but a bit posher one. Having said that though there is no dress code and you are more than welcome in your work clothes. You will find The Cafe at the Brewery in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. You may eat in the cafe or take the food away. Downstairs is the cafe upstairs is a restaurant. You might think on first glace at the prices that is is expensive but you get more, much more, than your moneys worth. Everything is very fresh. Try their bagets. They may cost £2 plus a little more all according to the filling but they cannot be beaten. If you have "odd" tastes in what you want for fillings, just ask them and they will literally put whatever you want into them. They are very filling and well worth the money. The staff there are very pleasant and helpful. You can buy bagets, cakes, soup and salads and many varieties of coffee. If you want a bit more of a substantial meal then the restaurant upstairs is the place for you. It opens at 10 am The meals are very well cooked and here too you get your moneys worth and everything is set out nice. Try the meal of the day when you go here. Service is efficient, fast with not long to wait for your meal which will be hot. They do not stand over you and give you the feeling that you must rush. If you are quite near closing time you dont have to even rush then as they will stay open till you are ready to leave. With Cirencester being the capital of the Cotswolds it has been known to see celebrities popping in here for a coffee. I would definately recommend it to anyone.
