      great for special occasions or really good steak.

      Me and mym mum decided to catch Shutter Island on cinema before it exits the screen and the only place I could find it still playing was Vue in Leiecester Square. As it was a Friday, we decided to make and evening of it by going for a meal first. We got there at about 4pm and had a wonder around Covent garden whilst trying to decide where to go for dinner. By 5.30, we were really hungry and decided to have a look at the Angus Steak house in the Square opposite Vue (there are 2 Angus Steak houses in close proximity of each other but the one on the square looked bigger and better staffed) The film didn't start until 8.20pm so we had plenty of time to relax and enjoy a meal with a glass of wine. The prices were quite steep but I've paid alot more for steak so we asked for a table for 2. The staff were really friendly but the tables were really packed tight to make as much room as possible so we asked to be seated elsewhere (at the time it was empty so we didn't see why we had to be sat right on top of a couple) They happily moved us downstairs which seemed a lot more cosy and the decor was nicer. The tables weren't packed as tightly either. Our waiter was really friendly and knowledgeable and we never had to wait long for his attention. He searved us really quickly with our wine (we opted for the Chardonnay which was £13.99 for a bottle) and whenever our glasses were running low, he would appear to top them up without us even asking. We decided to skip starters and head straight for the main. We both ordered the 10oz rump which was £16.95 each. I asked for mine to be well done and was informed it would take around 25 mins to prepare and cook which was fine by me. Like any good Steak house, the sides come seperate and ranged from £3.50-£4.50. I ordered the fries and my mum had the mashed potatoes. The fries were perfect and really crispy and the mash was really creamy. Not realising that the steak comes with a small portion of side salad (its not stated on the menu) I also ordered a tomato and onion salad and mym mum got a mixed salad and we shared some onion rings (again, cooked to perfection and really crispy) When it all came out (and it wasn't as long as 25 mins) there was loads! The steaks smelt and tasted great. My well done was still really tender and juicy but with the slight taste of chargrille around the edges and my mums medium rare was greatly enjoyed! Once we'd finished (and we didn't finish it all) we were well and truely stuffed! No room for deserts unfortunately but they did look really good. The service was great throughout with our waiter making sure we had everything we needed and wanted and making sure everything was ok with our meal and even though it was really busy by the time we got our meal, all the tables seemed to be getting the same level of service and the staff (of which there were many) all seemed friendly and un-rushed. When we asked for the bill again, we didn't wait more than a couple of minutes. The total was £64.95 without a service charge which I think was an acceptable amount for great food and great service and a really nice (but cheap) bottle of white wine. We left with time to spare so we had a little walk around the square to let the food go down. We didn't want to be falling asleep in the cinema! Looking at other reviews, it seems that maybe there is a staff shortage. I can only say that we ate relatively early and sat downstairs, we never noticed any staffing issues but maybe if we'd sat upstairs at a later time we would have done. With that in mind, if you decide to go, ask to be seated downstairs and get there before 7!

        The Aberdeen Angus Steakhouse is a chain of American style restaurants, the first branded restaurants in London infact in 1976. I recently visited the one in Leicester Square for something to eat before going to see Chicago at the theatre. We came across the restaurant by accident, took a look at the menu and although it seemed rather expensive decided to go in for a meal. From the moment I stepped inside I got the feeling it was rather strange, the 1970's style décor certainly didn't help. For a busy London restaurant it seemed understaffed and the tables were very cramped in order to pack as many people in as possible. Seeing as we were in a bit of a hurry to get to the show we decided to skip the starters and go straight to the main course. Both of us went for the New York Strip Steak at £18.50 each; quite expensive considering that was just for the steak. If you wanted a side order of chips or salad it cost an extra £3.00 which I thought was rather odd. You can't eat steak buy itself so we both ordered a few side dishes, chips, salad and onion rings. The food took a while to arrive, around 30 minutes and I assume this again was due to the restaurant being understaffed, but it was very nice. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the chips nice and crispy. For desert I went for the chocolate fudge cake at £4.00 which again was very nice. The bill came to around £55.00 and included a few drinks (wine and beer). In conclusion the food was lovely but because of the service and the look and feel of the restaurant I wouldn't race back to this particular restaurant but would go back to another of the chain.           The service really needs to be improved here, nice food though.

          I visited the Angus Steak house on Londons Oxford Street in December, It was relatively quiet for lunch time very near Christmas so we were seated almost straight away. Then we were thrown the menus (I am not joking, they were literally thrown across a table to us). We decided that we would have some cocktails so when the waitress came over we tried to order two woo woos, the waitress looked confused "no we don't do cocktails" really that was strange as there were cocktail menus on each table, and flashing neon cocktail sign on the wall ???. We settled on a couple of diet Cokes and ordered some Steak and chips. there was no 'Thankyou' 'have a nice meal'. When the food arrived, it was hot and very nice, the steaks were cooked perfectly and we were given a selection of sauces. We finished our meal and waited about fifteen minutes for the waitress to come and give us our bill, please bare in mind that at this time we were the only diners and there were three waitresses talking amongst themselves in a different language so I do not know what they were talking about but I felt uncomfortable. We paid in cash and were not thanked at all. needless to say we didn't leave a tip. It was such a shame as I rarely get to see my friend and It was supposed to be a really nice day with a lovely lunch, it did somewhat spoil it for us.

          As I go regularly to restaurants in central London with my wife I decided to go to one of these Angus / Aberdeen Restaurants. When we went into the restaurant they gave us a table near a place where they pile up the dirty plates. That was not only very loud but also a quite unsightly view. After they took our order we waited what seemed like ages. When the food was served by the unfriendly waitress we could finally start eating. But there were many surprises yet to come. First there was a mosquito in the salad and the pineapple juice for over £3 wasn't even natural. Later they charged us £8.90 for the salad, but on the menu it was about the half price. When we asked about this they said the gave us the "big portion". My wife said she has not ordered the "big" one. So they corrected the bill. Outside we looked at the menu again. And there was a big salad, but this one was with egg and artichoke, which wasn't included in the salad. To top it all off they have service charge and a so-called cover charge per person of 90p. (what is that?!) The next day me and my wife had some strange mucus, which took 2 days to get completely rid of. Jesus..what a place.. PS: when I mentioned this to my boss he told me he has even seen rats in another branch (Charing Cross). He said he never has seen this in a restaurant, and he has been to many places in the world.

            This is the worst place in the world. The food is awful. The drinks are awful. The staff are awful. The decor is awful. Even the toilets are awful. I hate them. The food is ridiculously overpriced. The drinks are too. The only people you ever see in them are tourists. Especially American tourists. They get fished in by the whole 'Aberdeen Angus' Scotland connection. It is embarassing how bad these resturants are. Everytime I walk past one I cringe thinking about all those people inside, eating revolting food at revolting prices, thinking this is the best that England has to offer. DO NOT GO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Oh, except maybe to try to fit through the hole outside the one at Leicester Square. Particularly fun at 11pm on Friday. After a few drinks.
