I signed a six month tenancy contract with Your Move for the rent of my house to run from November 2013 to April 2014 They insisted the tenant paid six months rent upfront- and kept it! They refused point blank to hand it over to me insisting 'it's not your money,' 'we have to protect the tenant,' and 'it's only rent when it falls due' More disturbing were the landlord statements they sent me- there was no mention of the amount brought forward from the previous statement and no amount carried forward to next statement- it looked as if the rent was being paid monthly even though it was not. I kept insisting they transfer the rent monies to me and they kept refusing Apparently I 'would have received a letter explaining the retention of the rent money'- it wouldn't have required a signature to show my agreement they said! I decided not to renew the management contract with Your Move and have given them more than two months notice They now say they have a termination fee of one month's rent plus VAT- an amount of £870 They are also taking their management fees for the two remaining months They have put a 'hold' on my rent money and apportioned their £870 out of the money-basically I will get £440 out of £1450. I have received a statement showing the amount they are holding- the first time it has shown- and the breakdown of where they are going to allocate it. I have complained formally by letter in January to which I did not receive a reply and had to send a second copy by recorded post I suspect Your Move are not following the regulations regarding client money accounts- it is my understanding there should always be a 'nil balance' in client accounts- Your Move are keeping client money somewhere but it does not appears as it should on statements sent to landlords I would urge anyone considering using Your Move as a letting agent not to!! You will lose money and be ripped off
While preparing an agreement for us they did not copy the papers necessary for their 'credit check' made by their own company. As a result after 2 weeks of 'checking' us they refused to allow us to rent this property . Though they were happy to take 6 months fee in advance plus deposit for this property(!!!) Then when the agreement was signed we were told that we have to pay an extra fee for insurance of this property, again to their own company! They never told us about these extra charges before the contract was signed. The property was in the poorest condition when we moved in: dirty carpets, cigarette smell in the living room, hair in wardrobes, butts in flowerpots and dirty windows! It seems that Your Move never cared to check if renting property is clean. We made a dry cleaning of the carpets and curtains ourselves. Today there were 3 months as we live in this property and I received a phone call from a lady from this agancy proposing me to pay again for next 6 months in advance though in our contract we have rolling payment scheme. What is that???!!! A way to get rid of good faith tenants?
I was recommended your-move by a friend for rental of my house. They charged me a marketing fee and then the usual 10% which adds upto £900 a year. After 8 months they wrote to me saying the tenancy had ended and do I want to renew. I suggested that just keep it rolling and they said that s not a good idea, so I said ok go ahead and renew. Unbeknown to me that incurred an additional cost of £125! On complaining they said it was a fee that was written in to the contract and yes it is there but their staff at the dinnington branch advised me not to take a years lease at first as best to see how the new tenant goes. But this is a lie all your-move want is extra money, they even hounded me with upsell for the gas certificate among 50 other things like insurance etc. I got my plumber to do this for £50 opposed to something like £150 for their service. I declined this and they had the cheek to ring my plumber after he had provided the necessary certificate and say he was not registered with the relevant board to do so. He told them he definitely was and please don't ring me again. The tenant they found also does not like them and is happy to go direct to me because I can also print off a tenancy agreement for 2 pence and put the deposit in the protection scheme myself. Steer clear and use rentify instead of these cowboys!!
Tried to view a property 3 TIMES. The first time, the agent did not turn up or if they did they were over 30 minutes late, I gave up waiting and left. The second time the agent was 15 minutes late (no apology) and had bought the wrong keys. The third viewing the same agent was 25 minutes late (no apology again) and again had bought a wrong set of keys so we still could not view the property. Upon addressing the manager with the disgust with the problem agent, at first a response was quick and efficient and felt like we were getting somewhere. We arranged a fourth and final viewing, which was successful. I then emailed questions to the manager as the representative agent couldn't answer them. 48 hours later there is still no reply and after frequent phone calls and numerous excuses of ''She is in a meeting all day'' and ''she is unavailable at present'' I am completely fed up! I am 29 weeks pregnant and desperate to get out of our current accommodation as it is damp. You would think they would be happy to let the property to someone so keen! 72 hours later and after escalating with customer relations and the area director. Still no response from The Manager at Chesterfield branch. Absolutely inexcusable customer service, I sincerely hope their clients start advertising with a different company as they are clearly useless. They advertise their company 'dynamic and proactive estate agent. Our team combine a healthy blend of young enthusiastic sales people and experienced personnel' well I beg to differ! Also the branch itself describes 'Here at YOUR MOVE we are serious about selling and letting property, we are people focused and our customer communication is paramount' again I beg to differ. I will definitely never be using this company again.
They never get back to you. You will always be chasing them for an answer. They show up late to viewings and have an awful customer service.
I could write a book on the amount of errors made by our local Your Move branch, unfortunately many of these only started to come to light with a tenacy agreement we have as landlords when we had already put our own house on the market with them. From the outset the tenacy agreements was totally cocked up by the Your Move branch in Swinton and the head office depsite the agreement being reviewed we recieved chaser letters as did our tenant for almost 11 months beyond the date after the new 2 year lease had been set up, with the branch blaming head office and head office blaming the branch - no one wanted to accept any liability for all the cock ups. Our house sale was worse with incorrect location, selling price, desciptions, poor photos, asking us to sign agreements that we weren't given chance to read, telling us that clauses did not apply then later trying to use them against us for financial gain. These folks are a bunch of cow boys - avoid them like the plague!
I thought I would just let everybody who are thinking of using Your Move to manage their property to think again !! I want to share my experiences so that you may think twice about using them. We have always dealt with the head office in Southampton and have dealt with numerous maintenance managers, mostly through e-mail because we live in Australia and communication is some what difficult. We pay full management fee of 15%. We have had ongoing issues with plumbing which has resulted in repeated damages to paintwork/leaking through ceiling etc, and despite several contractors having been paid in excess of a thousand pounds for repairs, we recently received an inspection report informing us of a leak causing damage to the ceiling which needs our attention, as if they had no knowledge of the problem. There appears to be no communication within Your Move, no single person or department who takes responsibility for the property. A contractor who recently was called back to address a problem with his work stated that he would need another hundred pounds to come back to repair something which he had already been paid to repair. You would hope that the weight of a huge company dealing with so many properties might have fought our corner for us, but we were just informed that we would have to pay more money, again. There have been some occasions where, after becoming frustrated with lack of response or action from Your Move, our tenants have resorted to contacting us directly in Australia regarding problems with the property, and we have arranged for repairs to be completed and paid for ourselves from here, as it is often quicker than becoming embroiled in endless e-mailing for weeks or months to get a job done. If it were not for the benefit of the legal package and the rental guarantee we are insured for in our package, it would be very tempting to manage the property ourselves, although as we have never had to use either of these services in the time we have used Your Move, we are not in a position to state whether these would be implemented effectively if required anyway.
I am astonished at reading all of the below reviews. I thought I was going insane with the poor level of service and Management I have received with additional underhand charges from this truly incompetent company. However it seems this has been the case for a lot of their customers since at least 2010 as I cant see much positive feedback since this year. Surly all of this bad feed back would be an indication for Your Move to have a look into their practice and make improvements to become a more efficient company. Come on Your Move pull your finger out and make some changes, show that you can over come this incompetence. Your Customers are unhappy!!!
This is the worst agents ever, beware when selling they charge £300 They tell you no sale no fee but what they dont point out is that if they dont sell yourproperty and you choose to cancel them then the invoice comes.
From even before our tenancy began, they screwed us over in every way and charged us for it. They fixed nothing, they had mail sent to our flat, they charged us for work not done, they did no repairs anyway. When we moved in it was a tip, with dirt and socks under the beds. Everything was broken when we moved in, and it took months for them to sort it, even despite daily emails, calls and visits. I had a broken cupboard for 2 years (broken when I moved in) despite asking repeatedly for it to be mended. Our shower never worked properly, despite it being "replaced". I had no door handle for the last three months of the tenancy. They charge repeated and extortionate admin fees, and a horrific amount for professional cleaning - as well as a check out charge. Also, the cleaning fee they charged us had been altered on the invoice from the invoice they were sent by the cleaning company to charge us nearly £50 more. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! They will screw you over in every way they can think of. Slimy, greasy, dishonest and lazy. The worst company I have ever had the displeasure of having to deal with. I've never been so empassioned about how bad a company can be. DO NOT USE YOURMOVE.
These guys are the worst company I have had the misfortune of dealing with I was constantly ignored left with no heating for weeks contracted pneumonia and was charged upon leaving despite daily requests for works to be completed. I urge anyone thinking of dealing with this company to stay away and look elsewhere. They charged me for rubbish that a previous tenant had left and faiuled to return monies I paid to them stating it was up to the landlord despite my contract being with them. PLEASE DO NOT HAVE THE DISAPOINTMENT OF DEALING WITH THESE TERRIBLE PEOPLE.
I've bought a few properties in the UK and I've never ever endured such an experience like the one I've had with this lot but golly gosh what a learning curve it was. I was in the process of buying a house and by the time I'd realised they only used me to bid up the price of the house, it was swiftly sold to another punter. This happened even though the vendor had agreed a sale with myself and so in order to squeeze for more commission (pounds) they decided to push for a sale with someone else but was really glad having pulled out and I had the last laugh as yes you guessed it!!! I saw the property put back on the market two months later .
I have been renting for over 12 years now and used many agencies. This month I recently finished a 12 month contract with YourMove and could not be happier to leave. Not only were their fees extortionate but you get no service back from that money. We were charged on moving in, renewal and moving out and throughout the tenancy, any problems we had were ignored repeatedly by the agency. They are unprofessional and my use of them has made me realise now why so many people complain about renting in London. There are some bad companies out there making life hard for those that rent. On another note they also had very unreliable contractors that did not show up and required a lot of chasing. Overall I am out of pocket and left feeling stressed and angry that companies can get away with treating tenants like that. Do. not. use.
Awful do not go with Lettings at Your Move Filton. Only one person who is never there, never returns phone calls, lies and reduced the price of our house without our agreement! STAY AWAY!
We have had a house for sale through Yourmove for almost a year.Today we realised that it has been removed without permission or discussion from the yourmove website, though it does appear on the rightmove website. My comment is simply this: If a prospective buyer noticed a For Sale sign outside a house and looked it up on the website, and did not find it, wouldn't they believe it was no longer for sale?Does Yourmove intend house hunting to be like a quest for the Holy Grail? I seriously believed they were supposed to promote their properties, obviously they disagree. Is a For Sale board intended as a tease? Their performance so far indicates it is.
