      Not a hit for me

I was looking for something quick and easy for our tea one evening recently after being harassed finishing my Christmas shopping and saw this meatballs, pasta and veg in a tin, which is ready cooked and just need heating. A 800g tin cost £1.49 in Lidl. The packaging does not say that it was made for Lidl, so I suspect that it is available elsewhere.

** The Smell and The Look**
Opening the tin I am met with a delicious smelling and looking mixture and meatballs, peas, carrots and pasta spirals in a thick gravy. It smells very appetising straight from the tin and even more so once it has been heated in the microwave (or on the hob if you wish) for 8 minutes.

      **The Taste and Texture**
Well I was quite looking forward to this because it looked and smelt so good. Unfortunately I was left feeling very let down!

A forkful of pasta and peas with gravy goes in and the first thing I notice is the overwhelming saltiness of this dish. I rarely use salt in cooking or as a flavouring (other than on chips - yum) so perhaps my taste-buds are really susceptible to the flavour, but this really was far too strong. Also, the pasta was very VERY soft, which I do not enjoy either.

On a positive note, the peas and carrots are okay in texture (though still too salty). The meatballs are in fact really nice, very meaty and full of taste.

I did not finish this pasta and ended up having soup to fill my belly because I just could not stand the saltiness.

Also, this is massive in calories 108 calories per 100g and whole tin at 800g would have probably been a usual serving for me if I had enjoyed it.
I would never buy this again. If you do not like salty food this definitely is not for you. On the other hand, if you are one of those "...salt brings out the flavour..." lovers then might be worth a try. On the whole though I think it is poor
