A great all round product and an easy way to have a quick curry if you are in a rush

I recently spotted this product in my local Asda while I was looking for a couple of ideas for things to take camping; tinned food being so easy to heat up on a camping stove and to transport there in the first place, I was curious as to what veggie options there were amongst all the tinned chilli and curries. This was pretty much the only appealing veggie thing - but my what a find!

Priced at 80p a tin this has since become a regular item in my shopping trolley because it is wonderfully convenient, quick, tasty and manages to be incredibly healthy too. A tin contains two generous portions each containing only 170 calories and 0.6g of saturated fat, this equates to 3 weight watchers points per portion, very low considering how good it tastes.

Basically this is a mild to medium spiced generic curry sauce, we think that it does taste rather similar to the vegetable balti we sometimes have from our local curry house and maybe that was why I was so impressed. It seems unusual for something which tastes so authentic and enjoyable to a) come out of a tin, b) be so cheap and c) not be incredibly calorific. There is a kick to it but not an overwhelming one, it is also notably lacking in the pool of grease which often ruins a takeaway meal for me, this is an added bonus!

The curry contains chunks of potato, carrots, broccoli and green beans along with chick peas which fills it out. Served on a bed of fluffy white rice this is a perfect meal. The ingredients list shows that it is 95% recognizable spices and vegetables, the only exception is some preservative in the potatoes and some modified maize starch, everything else you could find in your cupboard at home.

Now I know it is pretty easy to make a basic curry sauce from scratch and I quite often do this, but occasionally when I havent got any fresh veg in, am too tired to do all the prep or just fancy a quick meal - this product ticks all the boxes. This is why from now on there will always be a tin of this on standby in the back of my kitchen cupboard.

Credit where credit is due, I do think Asda have produced a quality item at a bargain price here.
