WHAT ARE THEY?
A pair of padded strap covers to provide extra comfort for your baby when they are riding in their car seat. They are made by Sunshine Kids and cost £8.99 for a pack of two.
HOW DO YOU USE THEM?
These wraps are very easy to use because you just fold them around the straps of your baby's car seat and close them using the velcro strips. You should position them near your baby's neck and face to prevent chaffing.
WHAT I THINK
I am glad I bought these because I always think newborn babies look uncomfortable with rough seatbelt material so close to their delicate skin. They are easy to attach and remove and can also be reversed if you want a change of colour. My strap wraps are black with pebble grey on the other side and they look very smart.
They are padded with memory foam but this is such a thin layer of padding that I think normal foam would have sufficed. They are suitable for washing in the washing machine, this is good because babies can become sick when they are in their car seat and the wraps will get dirty. They take a long time to dry even though they're only small so don't try to rush cleaning them just before you are due to go out.
The wraps stay in the position where I've put them and don't slide down or twist round the straps. When my daughter goes to sleep she nestles her face into the wrap on her right side and I think this is deliberate because they have a soft and smooth feel that is very much like her comfort blanket. You can see straight away that they make the straps more comfortable for her and I wander why the big car seat manufacturers don't add this sort of padding as standard.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
When I had my baby Jayden he was a very small baby so when we took him out in his buggy his harness straps always seemed too close to his face. Harness straps are not made from the softest material obviously because of what they are but I didn't like to think of them close to his head or face so for the first week I had him home I was trying to wrap a soft cloth around them every time we went out, this wasn't very practical but I had no idea these wraps excited. It was my Mum who spotted them on Amazon and ordered me some.
The Sunshine Kids Soft Wraps are designed to fit around safety harnesses in buggies or car seats, they are made from lovely soft material which has a nice plush feel to it. The wraps are approximately 12cm's long and 17cm's wide, they are slightly padded too. The wraps I have are grey in colour on one side and a creamy colour on the other, the wraps are reversible so you can have either colour showing, I'm not sure if they are available in any colours or not.
The Sunshine Kids Wraps are designed to fit any buggy or car seat harness, we have an O Baby buggy and car seat and the wraps fit fine on these.
I am really pleased with these wraps, they are simple to fit, just wrap them around the straps of the harness and the Velcro will hold them in place. They don't interfere with the harness in any way so Jayden is always secure. The wraps are lovely and soft to be against a babies delicate skin and there's no chance of the harness strap rubbing or digging into your baby. Being reversible is a great idea, not only because of the colour choice but from a practical point of view babies do tend to dribble and often bring up a little bit of milk wish wind, if this happens rather than having the wet wrap next to Jayden's skin I can just reverse the wrap which luckily are machine washable. I have been using my wraps for 6 weeks now and they have been in the washing machine many times, I just do them on a regular wash and they come up like new.
As I mentioned we had the Sunshine Kids Wraps bought for us from Amazon where they are currently selling for £5.99 a pair, this does vary depending were you buy from and the wraps are widely available online.
I would certainly recommend the Sunshine Kids Soft Wraps, they stop harness straps from rubbing against your baby's skin, they don't interfere with how the harness fits so they are perfectly safe. I like the thought of my baby's skin next to the soft material of the wraps rather than the harness strap, they were a very useful gift.
The Sunshine Kids range is well known for making useful third party attachments for strollers, car seats and prams, and as I already owned a few Sunshine Kids items and know them to be good quality, this is what attracted me to the Sunshine Kids Soft Wrap set.
My daughter's stroller (iCandy Cherry) already had two soft wraps on the shoulder / chest area but I wanted a spare pair, as when she eats something like an apple or a rusk the wraps can get quite dirty and need to go in the washer. So I decided on buying a spare set and I bought the Sunshine Kids Soft Wrap set for just under £6 on Amazon including postage and packing.
The wraps are available in black or navy blue, I went for black as my stroller is black. I have a lightweight stroller, the Mamas and Papas Trek, which is a great stroller but doesn't have any wraps at all. I would have liked a greater choice of colours so I could get one to match my purple lightweight stroller but it's not a huge problem (I can understand why they don't sell them in white!)
So, the wraps come in a box, but they're obviously very simple indeed to use, you just rip the velcro open and place around the stroller straps, and then re-velcro them with the velcro facing inward (this might seem odd but my toddler would have those wraps straight off if she could access the velcro!). They provide a comfortable cushion between baby and strap meaning there is no pressure or chafing, making for a more comfortable car or buggy ride.
Once I took the Sunshine Kids Soft Wraps off the iCandy, I put them on the lightweight stroller just so they got used and didn't get lost. I think for the money it's worth having these in even if you only use them as spares whilst you wash the originals. But even if you use them for every day use they are well made, soft, easy to wash themselves (you can just throw them in the washing machine), and dry fairly quickly too (not in the tumble dryer, however).
Overall I'll give these four out of five stars, they're well made, reasonably priced, easy to use and clean, and can be used on most if not all buggy, car seat, stroller and even high chair straps. My only small criticism is that there isn't a range of colours to choose from but it's only a small niggle. Sunshine Kids has done it again :)
The Soft Wrap from Sunshine Kids fits all carriers, car seats and strollers.
