I was given lots of great advice from friends and family while potty training my daughter, potty training or leaving the house with a child without a nappy on can be rather stressful. A friend recommended that I buy the sunshine kids dry seat waterproof protector. I hunted the web high and low as my friend couldn't remember where she bought hers from, I found one on ebay but it was second hand and I really wanted a new one for higine reasons. I found a new one on amazon. It cost £9.00 at the time over a year ago but I had a look and they are still selling them at present. The sunshine kids dry seat waterproof protector is designed to keep your childs car seat dry from any little accidents while potty training. Its a padded cushion that slips on top of your childs car seat, it is slightly padded and is made from waterproof material. It has a small hole to slip the seatbelt harness clip through. It is a universal fit and fitted my Volkswagen childs car seat perfect. It was black and grey in colour, that was the only choice in colour at the time I purchased but I did not mind as I only used it for 4 months until my daughter was completely potty trained. It was slightly padded and felt soft to touch and kept my daughter comfortable in her seat. My daughter has a few accidents in the car mainly on long journeys, I found that it contained all the accident and never once leaked on to her car seat. If it did it would have ruined the seat as I could remover the cover to wash but would have been unable to wash the polystyrene. The sunshine kid dry seat can be washed in the washing machine at 40 degrees wash. It can not be tumble dried its best to hang on the washing line or leave on a flat surface to allow it to reshape its self. I did always go back to its original shape and a good shake helped it as well. It took the stress out of potty training and was one of many helpful aids. I used it also in my daughters buggy I did have good use out of it even for the short period of time I used it for as my daughter was quite quickly potty trained. I found it to be well worth the money and very cheap and useful to have and as any mother will know potty training is very stressful.
Potty training is the part i dreaded most about being a parent yet i was surprised how easy my girls caught on to it. Whilst i had no problems potty training in the house i was nervous taking them out of the house without a nappy on and the first few times i did i had to strip a car seat down and wash it. The flooding of car seats happened a few times before i discovered the sunshine kids dry seat protector. I found a website called kiddicare that had many cool products this is where i bought the seat protectors from. The sunshine kids dry seat protectors are for sale on amazon uk and ebay uk for around £7.99, i paid £12.99 each for ours from kiddicare.com The sunshine kids dry seat protectors come wrapped in clear plastic with a small sheet with some kind of instructions for fitting the seat protector although the instructions are not very clear and very confusing due to the product being universal and fitting car seats to pushchairs. Sunshine kids dry seat protectors are slightly padded, waterproof and measure 12 inches long and wide. The seat pad has a cut out part in the middle where the clip from the car seat can be pulled through or the clip part from the pushchair making it easy to strap the child in without having to refit the seat cover. It has a lovely soft gray cover on the seat cover feels a bit like velvet. Apart from the nice soft texture of the seat cover i could feel the water proof mat underneath this and makes a slight crinkle noise, it is just like the waterproof sheets you can get for beds. Seat cover also has a long on it says sunshine kids. When i first had a look at the product i was quite surprised how thin it was wondering how on earth is this going to keep their car seats dry. Fitting the seat pad was easy and was slightly too big for our children's car seats but it didn't really matter still worked. My daughters found the seat pads really comfy and cosy, Hannah especially liked the texture running her fingers up and down it. It took a few trips in the car before we had our first accident on the pads, when roving the pad from the seat i was very please that the car seat was dry but the pad was socking wet and had absorbed most of the wet into it like a nappy would. In a way i was happy with the car seat pad for keeping the baby car seat dry but in another way i had a wet smelly pee pee car seat pad on my hands but at least the seat was dry and Hannah could sit back down on a dry seat. I did put the mats into the washing machine and they come out like new every time with no problems, i air dry them on the washing line because it does state on the label that the product cant be put in a tumble drier. I have used the mats before in the pushchairs too, work well with them too. I do recommend the Sunshine kids dry seat mat with 3 stars only, i felt the product was a little hyped up and was surprised the mat socked up all the liquid and was still wet to touch, also recommend taking a plastic bag in the car to put the wet mat in after little accidents.
