Great pub in the centre of edinburgh with great food and a good atmosphere.

I have literally just got back from this bar about ten minutes ago, I love this pub. It happens to be one of the best in the centre of Edinburgh. It is located along the Cowgate which is just off the grassmarket. The atmosphere for a pub is brilliant, the three sisters is a well acclaimed sports bar within Edinburgh and it is great for the whole student experience as drinks and food are cheap with an SR Card which is available to all students in Edinburgh. The drinks are reasonably priced and for a capital city this is rare. The food is lovely and tonight they even had a carvery placed outside which when we arrived was very busy, also they have a bar outside as the inside bar gets very busy and very hectic, the outside area is a courtyard and they have large tables with large umbrellas for the when the weather is a bit rainy, like tonight, but the area was still very busy. They also have a function room which has been turned into a university union for napier university which I think is a brilliant idea as this is the university that I attended. The bar staff are really welcoming and friendly and they are always on hand to help with any problems or queries you might have. The three sisters have different events such as a pub quiz, where you can win yourself money, which is always a bonus, on top of the fun you will have. The bar is also connected to a hotel which is also run by the same management and it looks very attractive from the outside, if it is anything like the bar it will be as good inside also. The decor is very fashionable but very laid back, so there is no judgement if you dont feel like being glammed up to the nines. The bouncers are also very friendly and do their job well, I have never had any problems at this bar. The food was still being served as we left at about 12, so they are always serving until closing time if you are peckish after your late night jaunts, definitely worth a visit if you are in Edinburgh for the weekend or you live here. The atmosphere especially at big sporting events such as the six nations and the fifa world cup is amazing, the bar does its best to kit itself out and cater to every country included and this makes the pub very welcoming and a good place to mingle with other supporters and meet new people. So yeah this bar is always being mentioned between people in Edinburgh and I would definitely recommend a visit. It is open all day until 1am, so go on, you know you want too!

      WONT BE GOING BACK!

We decided to do a pub crawl in the grass market for me and my twin brother's 21st. There was a group of ten all heading down towards the 3 sisters... not all together as some of us where walking at our own pace. My brother and his girlfriend got to the gate first where they where met by 2 bouncers. one tall the black spiked hair and the other small with brown hair and bad achne scars. My brother was told to go somewhere else... Reason: you walked with an attidute! I've never heard so much rubbish in my life! My brother doesn't have a swagger or anything to mistake as an ''attidude'' in his walk. Our birthday is on turesday 12th April and this was on Sat the 9th April. My brother had a 21 birthday badge on and the bouncer even commented on how people act like 21 when it's not even their birthday! Why this had any relevence I don't know =S After a debate about why none of us could get in we left and headed to another bar before ending up back in Livingston for the rest of the night. It was humiliating being watched by everyone as we got knocked back. It has totally put me off going back into edinburgh for a night out in the future. We are from livingston and have been to various places for nights out and have never heard such an exuse to not let someone in. I will NEVER return to this bar for the sheer judgement by the bouncers. Shame we never got a foot in because the bar looked good!!!! POOR SHOW BY THE ONE SHITTY BOUNCER THAT LET IT DOWN!

So your on a visit to edinburgh? where are you going to go... well look no farther than the cowgate and The Three Sister! By far a top place to be. Having lived in edinburgh all my life i never get bored of it. The Warm Friendly edinburgh atmosphere mixed with the drink makes for an interesting evening. You begin by dressing semi-smart (Trainers sometime accepted, but hey, depends on doorman) Strict entry so if you look young bring some photo ID like a passport. You walk into the open air courtyard which on the odd occasion of a bit of sun and warmth in edinburgh can prove to be more busy than inside... tables and an outside bottle bar can be found. You walk through the glass doors to meet the first part of the bar. Just as busy with large flat screen tv's mounted on the walls and a very modern feel. Good for relaxing and chatting with a few friends. Then You move round the centre bar and find a pub with a difference, onto an Irish Feel! Always some good criac going on and plenty of dancing. After fighting your way throught the busy crowd you reach the next bar.. a slightly more gothic feel awaits but still teeming with life and fun! But the fun doesn't end... At about 10/10.30pm the top bar opens to find a large dancefloor with a low ceiling and plenty of seats and bar options. But watch, it gets busy so make sure you find yourself a good dancing space. Altogether a top evening to be had. Closes generally around 3pm although sometimes later during the festival. Many a good night has been had at the three sisters and many a good story can be told... But That is for another time!! Go there, see for yourself and have the best time.

I used to work in the Three Sisters bar while I was a student, and what memories!! It took Tailors Hall a while to open, hiding in The Cowgate for many months, next to the gloomy end of the Sheriff Court, behind wooden fences. The Edinburgh citizens got so used to seeing those wooden fences, there was nothing but pure, unprecedented interest when the hotel finally opened. If you have been to The Cowgate before the Three Sisters finally emerged you will remember a grotty street, with a main feature of a leaking George IV Bridge, and vomit in the gutters from the previously gloomy and dismal Edinburgh Nightlife. Not a pretty scene. The fences were finally lifted and the most wonderful opening night of any bar and hotel I have seen was waiting... The Three Sisters bar is the attached to Tailors Hall hotel, and attracts more than just the average hotel punter. Since opening more than two years ago the crowds have not diminished, and for a great reason. The Three Sisters (downstairs) is made up of three bars, well done! In the summer there is a bottle bar outside in the courtyard offering beer, cider, alcopops, and anything else in a bottle. There are numerous tables outside, and a wonderful atmosphere. On entering the main building there is a large 'American' bar area, with modern furniture, a video screen playing classic films, and a general feeling of elegance. During the day this area contains lots of expensive suits, whether staying within the hotel or just chilling! From there we move onto the 'Irish' bar, with more chunky wooden furniture, and some featured booths - proper booths, with a door and walls around the table! There is a large mosaic floor, which you will not be able to view during the night for feet... At the back of the Three Sisters there is the 'Gothic' area, also very well themed. Here candles light the tables, which are situated in a mini-maze of curly tables, booths an d stairs. This area also has a separate bar. All of these areas sell food well into the evening, with a wide and varied menu to suit all (serves more than vegetables to vegetarians). During the day the Three Sisters tends to cater for business types. But in the evening a tranformation happens - hen nights, stag nights, leaving do's and half of Edinburgh magically appear in this venue. There is DJ downstairs who tends to play the usual cheesey chart music. You cannot get to the bar for the million people in front of you, and don't even consider saying to a friend 'I'll meet you in there'!! Towards the weekend upstairs also opens - this is the same size as downstairs (huge!!) and has a resident DJ, who is not at all bad. There is a dancefloor, with tables, another area for sitting and relaxing, and another TWO bars. I worked there when it first opened, and can guarantee all of the bar staff are wonderful!! When there the Three Sisters employed around 70 bar staff, and there's always a job going, but be prepared for your feet falling off!! Overall I can guarantee that the Three Sisters, even for people who do not know Edinburgh, is the place to be at the weekend, if you can get to the bar!!
