Looking for an old fashioned public house that is cosy on a cold Winters night to go to for a drink? Then this is definately the pub to go to. It is called the Eight Bells and is in Fairford, Gloucestershire. You will recognise the Eight Bells straight away on your way through Fairford as it has a sign of the Church. Yes the Eight Bells are the number of bells in the Church not the time at sea. Many expect to come and see the sign is of Bells. It has recently gone under new management and although it was good before this new owner has done well for this pub. He is very popular but runs a good pub! The Eight Bells is an Arkells pub which is the local brewery in fact some of the family live in Fairford. The pub itself is old with oak beams but it popular with the young and the old. It does have a one armed bandit but it is not positioned in such a way to be a nuisance. The food is good plain home cooking. Reasonable prices of around the £5 mark. In the winter it is warmed up by a good log fire. If you have never been in a pub with a log fire and beams you really should try one if only for the atmospher if not for the beer. In the summer you can take your drinks outside and watch the world go by on the quiet green. If your children or even you want a good local drink ask for a Henry. This is half lemonade and half orange. They make a real good Henry here.
